UT -- Ruby Murray, 18 months old, parents Mitchell and Carrie Murray arrested for murder and child abuse, March 19, 2025/Related to Chad Daybell

  • #21
I'm pretty sure this is the only thread for this case now, but if I am posting in the wrong place, someone please throw something soft at me.

From this article: "“Mitchell explained what he termed ‘crib days.’ He explained that crib days were days where (Ruby) remained in her crib all day while he worked. He claimed this would occur one to two days per week,” but he claimed he would check on her two or three times during the day, the affidavit alleges."

I know the wheels of justice turn slowly, but I'm really looking forward to these parents having "crib days" of their own. Hopefully a lifetime of them.
He worked online doing what to make money?
He had a wife that worked as a nurse and more than likely she was basically the sole breadwinner.

What the heck took 8 1/2 months to arrest these evil sadists when they had the evidence from the baby monitor?
imo
Well, how long did the baby monitor store video? Was it deletable? Warrants for private video + recovering any potential deleted video could take awhile. Time for a complete autopsy to rule out any other cause and time to check for circumstantial evidence. That's what I'm hoping, anyway. More evidence, not because they didn't have enough.

Still... 8 months is a long time. Almost half of this poor child's life.

Even with all the immediate available evidence showing how Ruby was abused causing her death it still took LE almost 9 months to charge the parent with Ruby's murder so it wouldn't surprise me if ongoing internal dissension was involved because the evidence against the parents was crystal clear.
Thankfully in the end the correct legal and moral decision prevailed to charge them.

Ruby's obituary lists an extended family so was Ruby somehow isolated from them?
Did the parents not associate with family members?
Was Ruby not taken to church if/when the parents attended?

These child abuse/death tragedies bring up the question, and rightfully so, who in the family/friends saw Ruby and did anyone think/know something was wrong with her, how she looked and/or how she was treated?
Did they see that something was very concerning and said nothing or saw something and said something to a parent(s) but didn't follow through with contacting CPS/LE?

Also the Murrays have a 4 yr old son.
Where was he when CM worked?
If he was home with the sadistic father a 4 yr old can certainly do a lot of constant interrupting when daddy is gaming online, especially if being ignored.

Did CPS open an investigation on the parents after Ruby's death?
Where did CM work as a nurse?
Did she have access to hospital patients and if so "angel of mercy " comes to mind.
Was employee child care offered where she worked?

In the last 24 hours of her mostly cribbed life, Baby Ruby's parents spend only 49 seconds with her.

So awful, beyond awful.

WTF did I just read??? OMG WHY even have children? That poor sweet baby and her big brother, the 4 year old, at least he is alive I suppose but my God what kind of home was this for children, warehoused out of sight out of mind babysat by green day and fallout boy via Alexa. Jesus Wept.

The only mystery is what took so long to file charges against this pair of super parents?

Perhaps they should be left without food, water, hygiene for days at a time, and loud music played in their cells. I usually believe in rehabilitation and some degree of mercy but not in this case. Treat them the way they treated her. IMHO MOO.

Utah does not require a Grand Jury indictment to arrest someone they use probable cause including for murder
You can be arrested at the scene or soon after.

I don't know if LE knew right away there was a baby monitor in RM's room and if the parents didn't volunteer to hand it over then all that was needed, and I would assume that the death of a toddler is urgent , is for LE to write an affidavit under oath and submit it to a judge.
They could obtain a warrant for the house/electronics in a few hours or less.
No need anymore to track down a judge and do this in person, most are done electronically now.

IIRC: LE had a few days of video on the baby monitor which is what they used in their charging document and I don't know about erased or deleted footage.
Even if it was retrievable they may not have needed it.

Arrests are made all the time using videos as evidence and the charge(s) at the time can always be upgraded as other evidence is found including the autopsy.

My other concern is LE saw the condition of Ruby and the crib that she died in and there was another child in the home and it appears that these parents were given carte-blanch for 8 1/2 months.

We don't even know if CPS was called in which I think is pretty standard when a deceased child is found in a home with other children living there.

I'm going with the music that Ruby was tortured with was what MM liked to hear in the background while the evil sadistic was gaming away.

One is a group called "Fall Out Boy.
I just listened to as much as I could take of their song ironically titled

"Fall Out Boy - Sugar, We're Goin Down"

I cringed throughout and it hurt listening and seeing the video.

I suspect they had the music cranked up so they couldn't hear her cry.

Disgusting excuses for parents.

The music is great, the parents are awful monsters. Let's not lose sight of that.

Both bands listed above are particular favourites of myself and my partner.

We played Green Day for my nephews when they were preschool and infant age while we were babysitting them and they loved it, they laughed and danced with us (as well as they could as kids that young).

Anything can be a torture if it's twisted to use for harm.

MOO

And THIS is why I follow few child cases.
They seem to hurt the most, as well as any cases involving elderly or disabled --the most innocent and helpless amongst us.
Poor Ruby did not even get to live her life.
About that loud music playing constantly -- there's a documentary of prisoners of war in I think it was during the Vietnam war where prisoners were tortured with loud music so they nearly went insane and could not sleep, resulting in very poor health.
And these monsters did this to an infant. 🤬
Fingers crossed for justice to be as harsh as possible.

Rest in gentle peace, Ruby and fly with the angels, babygirl !

Agreed.
I believe you suspect correctly ! 😭

So many monsters out and about lately! It's getting overwhelming! RIP sweet girl, know you saved your big brother 💔 😢

Jesus Christ, I know hamsters who get more interaction than that literal child
My nephew is 17 months and he's 10lb heavier than Ruby's weight at autopsy. Seems like he learns a new word every day or two at this stage. He eats fruit, veg, pasta, chicken, he loves to get slices of cheddar cheese as a snack. How many of his favs did poor little Ruby ever taste? This case is just heartbreaking.

The bands used in her torture are the same bands listed as her favorites in her obituary. It’s like a lawyer wrote the obituary to get ahead of future litigation. Sickening.
