Father of missing Utah girl, 5, doesn't think her uncle would hurt her | Daily Mail Online
"....... Shelley, who claims that Jessica has refused to let him see his daughter, said: 'I seen how he was with her but, like I said Jess has ignored me for 4 years and I lost touch with Alex. A lot can happen in time. ..."
Emph. mine
Sounds as if her parents are estranged.

Yes, if her father was barred from seeing Elizabeth... many things can change.
I think W. Shelley underestimates how evil people can be.

Pretty sad for him. :(

(from above link)
".... Shelley (pictured with Elizabeth when she was a baby) also wrote that he knows 'how it feels to have her go missing in the middle of the night'. Shelley didn't elaborate on that statement ..."

Puzzling.
Wonder if she'd gone missing before, as in wandered away at night ?
Although I don't believe that is what happened, this time.

Imo.

I think it might be how they become separated, meaning mom probably took off with baby in the middle of the night. At least that is what I am coming up with, after thinking about it.

Can someone please confirm the time he arrived at his sister's house. It's my understanding that he arrived sometime in the evening and they all stayed up together. The mom stated she last saw Lizzy at 2am.

But I'm seeing posts that read as if the uncle showed up at 2am, and I think he was there much earlier. Right?

jmo

It just seems like instinctively if you were going to hurt a baby you would quietly remove said baby from mom’s earshot/space/safety etc. the further away, the more time and space you would feel you had to commit nefarious actions

Certainly how I took it. She was only an infant, so she didn’t wander off.
Oh what a big mess this is. Hopefully she is found today & justice can begin.

Yes I think I read he showed up around 9/10 and they spent time together and he asked to crash and bedtime/Lizzy check was around 2am

ETA: staying up chatting until 2am might mean they were up drinking. I believe he was intoxicated when he committed the atrocity

His eta is unclear, msm used conflicting times.
You can read links on first few pages & see what I mean.
Confusing, huh?

he knows his sister, the house, etc.
idk, maybe mom sleeps soundly, maybe she keeps a radio/tv or fan on all night. Jmo
Either way, he was able to get her out of the house w/o waking anyone.

@Dre first articles stated he arrived around 2.

Since LE still wants info about Uncles whereabouts Friday after the store photos, I wonder, did he hang in the park, maybe enjoying a drink?
Where’s his backpack? Did he have a hiding spot already & left it while he did his shopping?

Unless he killed her first.
It seems unlikely to me that he killed her in the home. As a very fit grandmother I can tell you carrying a 5 year-old that is alive and well is difficult for any lengthy distance. He is a slight man in my opinion and I would think incapable of carrying a dead 5 year old child very far. Sadly, it is not difficult to win the confidence of an innocent child who would not have feared him given he was with her family that evening. I'm sure he groomed her in the hours leading up to the abduction with lots of smiles and attention.

That could be driven by paranoia, not rational thought. Also, the scattered pattern could be places that he saw as easy spots to hide things. Assuming that he didn’t have a shovel to dig a hole, just buried things under rubble/debris.

(The fact that he casually bought beer and was just walking down a street when LE found him, seems like he wasn’t trying to hide. If he was thinking rationally he would have gone into hiding. Maybe?)

I’m guessing he was under the influence, not thinking clearly.
As far as walking along the dirt road, I think he had no place to go, and was going nowhere, looking for an opportunity, maybe. His “rush” was gone, he had accomplished what I think he anticipated for months, or longer. He was in dire need of a car, imo. Idk how much money he had on him but soon he would need food & water.

Maybe SA in the house, idk. Iirc, evidence found in the house (via SW) led LE to believe “this won’t end well.”
Info previously linked, numerous times.

OBE, I thought maybe he walked her out, but after hearing of some of the evidence, I’m not so sure. I do think (as I previously posted) she would have stayed quiet, thinking they were going to have fun, if he asked, but he also could have easily stifled her. Since the door was left open (reportedly), I do think he had his hands full. I doubt he left it open intentionally, there’d be no purpose in that. Even if he wished for it to appear a stranger abducted L, there’d be no prints on the door.
I maintain if he had not been invited in the home, he was going to gain access after the parents went to bed. Not sure of his ETA but he may have thought no one was up.
100% agree with the grooming.
All moo

I agree with both and am undecided if I think it occurred in the home or outside. I agree with OBE that it is mostly unheard of inside the home.

However, when we consider what we are led to believe, that he was on foot, possibly with no vehicle and no home to take her to, it somewhat changes the usual possibilities, if he had nowhere to take her.

This is also not a stranger abduction and it is not unheard of for a relative to molest a child in the home downstairs or down the hall while mom is sleeping, for years sometimes sadly, whether a stepfather, uncle stepbrother, etc. Killing the child at the home, however, may be more unusual.

I as someone else said above, would like to know the layout of the home. Is there an attached garage with a firewall between the garage and home (sound wise) or a finished basement? I would like to know the events the day and night before. I am not victim blaming but were all drinking and celebrating, tired, the child allowed to stay up late due to an event?

He had to carry her one way or the other or walk her or take a vehicle. Leaving the door open does make me wonder if his hands were full. Had he said to her, let's take a walk or go on an adventure and she was walking, there is actually no reason he could not have also taken his skateboard unless he knew he would be carrying her later but then why would you not just dispose of her where you took her to and then take off on your board? However, if his hands were full when he left, because it happened at the home, it may explain the door being left open and the skateboard left behind.

It also was pretty clear from the PC that there was evidence in the home tying him forensically which also lends to it happening there.

I am torn on whether in the house or outside of the home. I also just do not see him walking far in the dark carrying a body. In town or not, with streetlights or yard lights, he still has to navigate in the dark to dispose of her (i hate saying that) and go unnoticed.

Right now I guess I may lean towards in the home although I generally would not in most cases. There is evidence there because something happened there. He had to get rid of her and took her and what he could for evidence, left the door open, left his skateboard and just went to dispose of her and evidence. All videos so far as we know thus far are him seen without her.

All jmo and speculation but I can believe either scenario, inside the home our outside the home at this point.

Does anyone know who else was in the home the night she went missing?

Ita. Something “abnormal” occurred in the house for LE to
realize “this won’t end well.” So we can assume evidence of SA or death. Moo

Just to confirm what others have said and back it up, it was reported initially that he came over late Friday night, they all stayed up together for a time and the last time she was checked on/seen was at 2 a.m. Paraphrasing. It led naturally to the belief of why was she up so late and that is where some family event/occasion was speculated.

Hours later or maybe the next day other MSM reports made it sound as if he showed up at 2 as the mother, etc. was going to bed.

So both scenarios have been reported by MSM and can be seen in the first day or so of links.

No big surprise, conflicting media reports, getting quite used to it :)

Just an hour ago maybe I heard the female news person on HLN report that he had a baseball on him when arrested. Not a baseball bat... A baseball...

When I read “hoodie” on a few articles I was thinking of an actual hoodie, not an open front jacket. He is just so unsettling.

I don't believe he fantasized about Elizabeth. I think he was fueled by drugs or drink. I could be wrong, it happens frequently. I also don't think he committed his desires inside the home. Too much risk. Most pedos take them away where they have time and privacy. Again, I could be wrong. This whole mess is wrong.

I think we’ll learn much more after she’s found.
What do you think happened in the home to connect him/Lizzie that “will not end well”, I’m curious, ty.

For those of you who don't know about Utah liquor laws, the only place in Logan to purchase hard liquor in a bottle is the state liquor store on 400 n. You can only buy beer in grocery stores and gas stations.

It is interesting to me that upon AW's accosting by LE, his first utterances seemed to be concern to identify that he had drugs and paraphernalia with him. If someone had just killed a child, that isn't what I'd expect him to be concerned about. Just thoughts.

I generally see LE ask people they are arresting if they have anything drugs or anything on their person before searching them. Maybe he knew they were gonna find it so he just told them. I'd think it's much easier to admit to having weed in your pocket then it is to admit you murdered your 5 year old niece, JMO.
