IIRC = If I Remember Correctly?
I just figured out that we can't thank ourselves for our own posts...

Any mom's out there? Would you let you husband take the kids camping in the cold, especially a one year old in diapers? I would not.
I'm pretty sure I wouldn't let my one year old go camping period.. If I had one.. camper or not.. there's just too many things to keep track of when they're that age. imo..
And JP claims to have headed out to a desolate spot with a snow storm coming in....and after reading a comment at the SLtrib about easily getting stuck out there -- NO WAY in the middle of the night w/ no one knowing

There is not much to do out there with little kids in the winter. There was not enough snow for snowmobiling. Four wheelers are a possibility, but one adult managing two little kids and trying to go four wheeling sounds a bit insane. All of the access roads are dirt, it was cold and muddy, a storm is coming in and you can easily get stuck out there in bad weather, even with a 4x4.

Is there another kind?

I'm a dad, but I wouldn't do it either. Not in that cold, not with those little kids, and not without support from Mrs. Adnoid!
We used to go hiking in the winter when the kids were very young, though we never camped overnight. We had a kid backpack for carrying the toddler, so he didn't have to walk through the snow. He thought it was great.
I really think the family is just playing along with him to keep him talking to them. I believe he has quit talking to the police now.
Can someone lead me in the direction of the blanket being bought? I am trying to find that.
Monday afternoon at three, she spoke with Josh by phone.
She said he was driving around with the kids.
Hellewell told him about Susan and that he needed to come home.

That is a strange thing for him to say.
I don't know anything about a blanket, but this article talks about a new quilt
