Um silly question here, what does IIRC stand for? i just can't figure that acronym out. Thanks :)

IIRC = If I Remember Correctly?

I just figured out that we can't thank ourselves for our own posts...

Any mom's out there? Would you let you husband take the kids camping in the cold, especially a one year old in diapers? I would not.

No effing way. AND, I don't know any fathers who would be willing to take 2 children that young on such an adventure by himself. Not even under more logical circumstances. Nope.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't let my one year old go camping period.. If I had one.. camper or not.. there's just too many things to keep track of when they're that age. imo..

And JP claims to have headed out to a desolate spot with a snow storm coming in....and after reading a comment at the SLtrib about easily getting stuck out there -- NO WAY in the middle of the night w/ no one knowing

There is not much to do out there with little kids in the winter. There was not enough snow for snowmobiling. Four wheelers are a possibility, but one adult managing two little kids and trying to go four wheeling sounds a bit insane. All of the access roads are dirt, it was cold and muddy, a storm is coming in and you can easily get stuck out there in bad weather, even with a 4x4.

You know, if this part actually is true - LE should arrest him on child endangerment charges.

We used to go hiking in the winter when the kids were very young, though we never camped overnight. We had a kid backpack for carrying the toddler, so he didn't have to walk through the snow. He thought it was great.

Fran,
Please add to list...........
left sick wife alone, never to check on her and she had NO CAR to go to doctor!

I'm a dad, but I wouldn't do it either. Not in that cold, not with those little kids, and not without support from Mrs. Adnoid!

My hubby just agreed with you, said the kids would be a handful!
No way would he take 2 kids by himself even in the summer,
in good weather alone and never at 12:30 am.

So....family....what other scenarios do you think happened? She took off with a lover? She let someone in the house and was kidnapped? She left on her own without her purse or phone, on foot? She is hiding somewhere with a friend or family member?

In the middle of the night? On a Sunday/Monday?

I am glad to hear he had his cell phone with him. That should tell the story.

I really think the family is just playing along with him to keep him talking to them. I believe he has quit talking to the police now.

Hoping this is the case. But meanwhile, Susan is out there somewhere and it's soooooo cold. :furious:

Can someone lead me in the direction of the blanket being bought? I am trying to find that.

Monday afternoon at three, she spoke with Josh by phone.

She said he was driving around with the kids.

Hellewell told him about Susan and that he needed to come home.

That is a strange thing for him to say.

Hmmm. Now I thought that originally, the whole family was thought to be missing. Yet Hellewell, when she did get Josh on the phone, told him just about Susan and told him he needed to come home?

Well, that has my hinky meter up! It will all come out. In time.

Family of missing woman's husband speaks; friends hand out posters

Friends and family of a 28-year-old mother who disappeared nearly a week ago under what police are calling suspicious circumstances are fasting and praying for her safe return as volunteers post thousands of fliers with her image on it.

"I think it's pointless. I think maybe worse than pointless. I think it's destructive and damaging to what's going on," said Graves. "There has been so much speculation that we just need to put it to rest."

Some of that speculation comes from Josh's story he told to investigators. He claims he took his young sons camping in the freezing cold of the West Desert on the night Susan disappeared from their West Valley home.

...

When asked if Josh Powell had been to the scene to help police, Graves said he didn't know. Even with Powell standing next to him, Graves said there are some things his brother-in-law doesn't want to talk about.

"Josh is just here mostly to let everybody know that he's here and that he cares," said Graves. "What little detail facts I have, the police have asked us to not be open with them, to kind of keep quiet on what little we know that isn't well published. Our next step is to make sure everybody stays focused on Susan."

West Valley City Police Capt. Tom McLachlan said police don't have a description of the clothing Susan was wearing when her husband last saw her early Monday. (ummmm - way to go w/ cooperating fully, Josh)

Susan Powell's friend, Kiirsi Hellewell, said she saw her Sunday afternoon walking home from church, which Josh Powell did not attend. JoVonna Owings said she had dinner with the couple and their children around 4 p.m. and that Susan Powell was wearing a long-sleeve black shirt and black pants.

now we're hearing that Kiirsi saw Susan walking home from church on Sunday....I have tried to find a church w/i walking distance in the WVC stake whose hours for Sunday School, worship service etc would have her seen in her neighborhood walking from 12-12:30...I can only find churches that are 2mi or so...maybe she got a ride w/ another neighbor & was walking from a neighbor's house to her house.

and there's some interesting comments starting here, including the word 'sociopath'- FWIW

this is Mark Hacking part 2. He knows exactly what he did and any tears he shows will be fear of getting caught. He used to be my neighbor
