I'm still praying for Susan and most of all for her children. They need their mama.
I'll be flying into Salt Lake City Sunday night to spend my birthday and Christmas with my family. My 8 month old son will be meeting them for the first time. I REALLY hope they have found Susan (Hopefully alive) by then. I've been SO busy trying to get ready for my trip, I really haven't been able to keep up with these threads. Can anyone tell me if there have been any organized searches? Or if there are plans for any?
I'd like to try to participate while I'm in town next week if I can find the time.

Also, does anyone know if the family has contacted Texas Equusearch?

NewMomy... have a fun and safe trip!

BBM
No searches.
I don't believe they contacted Texas Equusearch do to the
fact that they have no clue where to search.

At the link above it has a timeline.

11 a.m., Dec. 8 » Charles Cox received a telephone call from Joshua Powell,
who informed him Susan was missing and that he was about to be
interviewed by police again.

This is not the actions of a husband with a missing wife.
IF he thought she was really missing why not call her father and ask
"have you seen or heard from Susan"

IMO this is a BIG RED FLAG!

Snipped/bolded by me:

I don't understand... Sledding would be his alibi? He left for sledding at 5:30 PM Sunday night. If sledding was going to be his alibi and she would have been missing when he returned that evening, why would he not report her missing til the late the next day? I guess I just don't understand why he would wait til the next day after both of them had to be at work to report her.

I think I'm misunderstanding/overlooking part of this theory. Not trying to knock it, just don't think I'm getting it. No matter which theory the closest (and maybe none of them are) Susan's fate doesn't change. :(
I think it would have been, yes. HOWEVER, family called the cops right away and he did not plan on that. It threw a wrench into his story.

If he would have been able to get back home and clean up the house... I bet he would have been the one to call her in missing.. I think the quick actions of family members threw all kinds of wrenchs into his plan/story.

Children can be coerced to say just about anything.

I have seen this done, as to even put ideas on kids heads that have not even happened.

Maybe they went camping, but... did they really go to Tooele to camp?

Maybe he didn't, and instead of going Southwest he went Northeast?

Did he camp in Tooele, or Sugar House Park?

The 4 year old kid wouldn't know.

FWIW, a commenter at deseretnews.com says Josh was 'let go' from his job due to attendance issues....sounds like he didn't bother to call in to let employer know he needed time off?? (conjecture on my part, if the post is true.)

The pressure must be building for sure. I wonder how he's gonna pay for an atty if he has no job (if in fact losing his job isn't just rumor).

I agree with the kids being coerced.
They could have been asleep in the van while he was driving
and if they woke up he could have said "we are going camping"
and IMO the wouldn't know the difference.

I don't think he went camping at all.
I think he was driving to wherever he dumped her body
and then drove home.
Maybe pulled over and acted like they were "camping" for
the sake of the boys but that’s all.

I don't think you can camp in Sugar House Park.

With the press conference, the forensic people at the house, the job,
his family having doubts… sounds like they are putting pressure on him.
Hope it works!

Story on Jane V-M right now

  • #690
FYI: Jane with Issues on HLN's is covering the case tonight!

ETA: Didn't see your post SusanB! We both posted about HLN's.

ITA: With you all that this breaks Josh to confess or something, but for some reason he reminds me of the same personality as Scott Peterson had! :shakehead: :furious:

Who in their right mind gets what day it is confused...he didn't realize it was Sunday...... that's a bunch of bull :curses:!!!

Police Capt on phone. Josh said he went to "Simpson Springs". Where is that, you guys who R from there?
Capt says JP not willing to answer questions. Asked about the story of camping by Jane - has he confiscated the vehicle? Capt says it was gone over, processed, and given back. Why? Capt said he cannot reply D/T evidence confidentiality
Nothing new there.
Seems like they gave back the van really soon - wonder if that means that they did not find anything? I would think if they did, they would have kept it for further testing.:waitasec:

Was using Sugar House park as an example.
:innocent:

Anyway, I see what you say. He said he hadn't slept in 17 hours (or at least he was quoted saying that.) So, he probably didn't even stop, or maybe for an hour or two (wherever he was, which most possibly wasn't Tooele.)

Capt says the children were interviewed - but he cannot reveal due to being careful with Utah law and child testimony.
Jovanna says Josh knew it was Sunday. Jane's panel does not buy that JP thought it was Sat
Josh returned back to house according to Jane between 5-6PM. Panel stating that he is fabricating, they think he needs "intensive LE interrogation!" (joking)

2nd search warrant issued at Powell home
December 17th, 2009 @ 5:10pm
<snipped>
Police in West Valley City have served a second search warrant at the home of Josh Powell, the husband of missing woman Susan Powell.

Detectives finished serving the warrant late Thursday afternoon. West Valley police Capt. Tom McLachlan said he doesn't know what prompted investigators to go back to the home, but they recovered a few items that they believe will help in this case.

McLachlan did say that Josh Powell's status as a person of interest has not changed; he is not considered a suspect at this time.

Forgive me if this has been discussed but something Fran posted caught my eye;

A friend saw her walking home from church on Sunday afternoon. Another friend came over for dinner. It's said they ate dinner at about 4:00. However, Susan wasn't feeling well and it's been said Josh fixed dinner, which is very unusual.

Could Josh have poisoned her? I'm sure I am about 3 days behind all of you but just wanted to throw that out there to see what you all have to say.

Have they done a search of gas stations? Are not many surveillance cameras in area. Don't know if cameras looked at. Jane - he had to get gas somewhere! Panel says they already have GPS and cell phone pings.
Friend says she did not like JP, he was controlling.
She did not like the way he treated her at all, she says.
Well, only thing we got here was another opinion from a friend who I've not seen before, who corroborates with others who said Josh was controlling and did not like him. The consensus was that he is lying, but not enough evidence yet.:snooty:

O I forgot they mentioned her diary, and reiterated that just then fact that she kept it at work is telling. I totally agree. Anyone know about that "Simpson Springs?"

"Person of Interest" is the term for suspect because defense lawyers will accuse the police of honing in on their client. Semantics, how ridiculous. I guess that's where things stand in our society. :twocents:

BTW, it's 9 degrees here in Rochester. Does anyone have a good smores recipe? I'm gonna go camping at midnight. Today is Saturday, right? :waitasec:
