Puyallup, WA: Chuck and Judy Cox, the parents of missing Utah mother Susan Powell, will attend the annual Washington State Santa Cops delivery event tonight. Each year, a few days before Christmas, dozens of off-duty law enforcement officers from the Pierce County area meet at a secret warehouse, load their patrol cars with new clothes, new toys and groceries and deliver them to unsuspecting families in need.

Washington State Santa Cops was started by Puyallup Police Officers Michael Gifford and Gary Shilley in 1993 and has grown from serving 12 families the first year to over 150pear year on average, with some years reaching into the mid-200 range. Chuck and Judy Cox and all their girls have worked with Santa Cops over the years. This year, Chuck and Judy have decided that attending delivery night to load up groceries and brightly wrapped packages will help them focus on the positive things in the world.

Delivery will occur at 6 PM this evening at the old Chrysler building in the 400 block of River Road in downtown Puyallup. We invite members of the media every year to ride along with a police officer while they make a delivery and encourage the same response this year. The past 60 days have been tragic for the law enforcement community in Western Washington and we hope tonight will be a night of finding joy in the service of others.

Nothing new and exciting. Same thing, no one believes the alibi.
Passion, your list is fantastic - I'm going to copy it because I have some friends who may be able to consider some of the factors on here.
Thanks so much all who have contributed to the forum here - I am sure these posts have enlightened a lot of people.:o

I haven't been able to find the reason that her dad bought the phone for her.

It was stated in an article this was "in case of emergencies," and so Susan would always feel that she could reach out to them.

Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

I starte an abuse thread for all those that would like to add to it.
This is a bad time of year for allot of people.
Let's hope we can help someone out there.

An anonymous donor is now offering a 10K reward for Susan!

I tell yah, this case is being handled somewhat different than similar disappearances.

For once, there hasn't been any searches.

Police say they don't know where to look.

What? In most cases like this police don't always know where to look, yet they still do.

I hope that at least they checked the garbage pickup in the area, just in case.

No reward for her whereabouts up until now?!

Very interesting article! Now I guess the words out about their relationship. the words used in the article regarding the couple are very descriptive. Joshy must know by now that the gig's up - everyone knows that their marriage was not fine, that he was a control freak, that she was planning on getting a divorce, and that there IS motive for him to kill her knowing his sick twisted personality and abuse.:yuck:

Michael Gifford was one of the founding members. That is a great cause, how heartwarming.

Also I find it curious. Michael went to SLC with Chuck but stayed off the news, out of camera view.... and I wonder what he advised Chuck, knowing what he had to "know" being a cop and all.

Well, that's to be expected of Steven Powell. I'd be surprised if he said anything else.:innocent:

I wonder if that same sort of abuse was a pattern with Steven and Terri's marriage too. She got out safely... or did she? She moved far away from Steven... all the way to SLC.

Not really asking, it is just interesting.

I just watched that video that omegagal linked -- I think his behavior at the vigil is pretty twisted....did you see Josh's "supporters" encircling him like he needed to be protected?

For crying out loud this was supposed to be a candlelight vigil for Susan & their candles were hidden -- completely ignoriing the symbolism.

Why even bother? (well, except for the fact that he could show Mr. Cox that he could - and would - do whatever he wanted, when he wanted.)
