For some reason (maybe it's my OCD wanting things to be in neat little boxes), the finding of her car has bothered me. Can someone please help me understand the timeline of that? Please tell me if this is somewhat correct:

On Tuesday night at around 8pm, a family friend finds the car parked in the Carmike theater parking lot (http://www.blueridgelife.com/2013/0...teen-was-driving-alexis-murphy-still-missing/)

OR

Sometime that night a "tipster" (which wasn't being reported as a friend of the family) called into authorities that they had found the car (http://www.wset.com/story/23062096/search-for-alexis-murphy-continues)

That same night at around 9pm, authorities rush to the scene.

Around 10:30 that same night, K-9 dogs pick up a scent that leads them to Arden Place Apartments (http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_...in-movie-theater-parking-lot-authorities-say/)

Around 11:30 that same night, the car is towed away from the premises http://www.newsplex.com/home/headli...-Car-Found-in-Albemarle-County-218610961.html)

A little before midnight that same night, investigators leave for the night and will resume the search the next morning.

I have not understood this protocol yet and hope that some of you can ease my mind. I don't understand why, when there was a scent detected, every single apartment, nook and cranny in that complex as well as the one behind it (and even the ones behind THAT one) weren't searched. The media (which is all that I have to go on) made it sound like the scent stopped so they just packed it up to go home. I read that her Nelson county family didn't know about the car being found as they found out later through social media (http://www.wset.com/story/23073596/...on-third-full-day-of-search-for-alexis-murphy), but what does everyone think they did as far as her uncle being RIGHT there where it was found. Did they tell him and the grandmother? I just don't understand authorities' protocol. I guess I thought if they had a scent they would stay out there more hours than they did to try to find out more (knock on doors, etc).

They are both right imo. It just happens that a reporter spoke with the person who found the car and they identified themself as a friend of the family but didn't want their name released. The family found out the same time we all did via SM and they called the police to verify per articles I have read.

I have read two stories about when the car was parked.
One said it was found on Monday
The other said someone stated it wasn't there til Tues morning

Does anyone know which it is?
Was it there all along or did it arrive on Tues?

upstream:

walker noticed it monday at 10am on his daily walk but didn't report it until after the fact

reported by a tip on tuesday and found by LE tuesday night

Two things are not nagging at me... In the two pics that LE released, I see she is holding her key fob in her right hand and the cell phone in her left hand.

I don't see a gray on dark gray PURSE! Is it visible inside the car in pics unreleased?

And, there was a Ask. fm comment telling AM that if she came to the Villee he/she would get her high for real. Her response was like... I'm already there. That was a recent post.

Crap. I think I may have overthunk this as I tend to do sometimes. I don't feel like the modeling angle is possible for two reasons:

1. Her phone was more than likely last on at or around the Liberty gas station.

2. I feel confident that someone - perhaps mom/grandma/close friend - would have been told about this. This is something that clearly would have excited her and I doubt she would have hidden it from others.

I feel like whatever started this chain of events occurred at or near that gas station. I'm not as confident that she was in the car or nearby when it was ultimately abandoned. Though I will say that it being in relatively close proximity to both her workplace and some extended family members is a bit concerning.

Dear Nurse...Do you know if the thumbtack on the map for her car is where it was found? Because I decided that the 20 yards comment probably meant that the actual location of the car was in the parking lot south of the theater. It's still the theater's parking lot. But it's much closer to the apartments. But I haven't seen any MSM information to pinpoint exactly where her car was.

Wow, this girl has a very large Internet presence. I'm 23, so social media was just becoming extremely popular as I was going into high school and I don't know anyone who participates so heavily in that many social media sites. The 11,000 followers more than likely came from sites where you can be on a "train" that features your Twitter name for a small fee or a mention or retweet. Followers also come a lot from others retweeting what she writes, then others' followers see it and follow Alexis, etc.

I believe it might not have been someone she personally knew, but someone she communicated with on one of her social media accounts. Anyone who wanted to target her could've easily put a few puzzle pieces together with the information she shared publicly and found her. She seems very naive and attention craving, but also quite aware of creeps on the Internet and pretty well educated also, despite the naivety of posting what she has posted.

The 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 account is creepy to me, whether it's relevant to her disappearance or not. The "coming to see you for the first time" and a few other questions caught my eyes. Men these days make me ill to read what some of them write on people's accounts.

Also, I'm probably over thinking this...but is the silver SUV in the background of the gas station photo a Range Rover? I can't tell if it is or if it is a different type that resembles one. Because her most recent question answered said she really wanted one. I, for one, LOVE Range Rovers and every single one catches my eye. Possibly the driver was chatting her up and said hey let's meet somewhere? Not likely, just a small detail I noticed.

I am really hoping she's found alive and well, I follow the Lauren Spierer case closely as I'm a local in that case, so young girl cases like this always worry me. Hopefully we find out more information soon. I'm not thinking good things as someone else mentioned, ALL of her social media and communication stopped suddenly, which is very out of character, so I have a bad feeling. Hoping for the best though! Come home Alexis <3

I guess LE has already checked out all the employees of that particular gas station, but the fact that some person commented on her social media that they had seen her there just recently and she did not know who that person was does make me want to focus on the station and the closest surrounding homes/apartments. JMO. Hopefully they've already traced the IP addresses of the people who posted the creepiest comments and noted if any of them came from that general area... :twocents:

The quality of the surveillance video is so poor that it looks like she does have on a maroon long sleeved shirt and leopard print pants. I guess if someone only had that footage to go on they might give out a bad description initially, as happened here.

Makes me think they had this footage from day one. IMO

I do think in this photo it looks more like a leopard print on her leggings, but I think in the other photo where she's inside the gas station, they look more busy, such as a heavily floraled print. I don't find her shirt to be maroon though, I'd consider it just red. Maybe a tad dark.

According to this article they are researching an area near the gas station for the cell phone. ""ABC 13 is also learning new information about FBI agents looking for Alexis' cellphone at a house off of Cannery Loop, which is only a few miles north of that Liberty Gas Station in Lovingston.

Willis Little is the property owner and says that house was searched earlier on in week. He says FBI agents told him they had reason to believe the cell phone of Alexis Murphy may have been in that area since that piece of property is right off Route 29. Little says that it's his understanding that nothing was found on his property."

Are there any RSO on Canary Loop or in that area?

Im going to ask again (in case anyone has the info and missed my other post):

What is her Tumblr link?
*I did look for her but could not find her - I'm pretty sure she has a tumblr

how many twitter followers does she have compared to how many does she follow back?

Does she have a youtube channel?
*I ask this because several people do - and there's this network of e-celebs that are youtube channel holders. Right now is Vidcon and many people have come to the states for it. It's far from VA. But, she has about the same #'s as people who are social media notorious.

With people "faking her" it seems that she's rather well known and her photos are often stolen. AKA catfishing.

TIA

BTW: I know there is zero indication that she's been involved in sex trafficking or a sex crime, but I went ahead and posted her missing persons flyer to a SWOP branch in that area. It never hurts.

There is one RSO that lives on Thomas Nelson Highway and that is 0.5 miles maybe less from the Liberty gas station. I hope that LE has checked that.

  • #654
IMO opinion looking at the surveillance pictures, LE would have been able to see which way she turned. You can kind of see the road in the background of her pics. Just my opinion though.

Interesting. Also from the article:

Stevens also says that Alexis is a regular customer and to her knowledge, Alexis appeared to be alone that night.

Of particular note is that Cannery Loop is just north of the Liberty - on the way to Charlottesville and NOT on the way to Lynchburg. So either she left and headed that way on her own and something happened to her, or someone was in her car that the clerk didn't see. Or worse, and what I am starting to consider, is that someone got in her car while she was inside/on her way inside.

The only other scenario I can think of is that she voluntarily left and slung her phone out the window. I don't think this occurred because:

1. She would likely have left an electronic trace of this - either via texting/phone call/social media. If she made 'secret' plans, I am confident there would be a record of this.

2. Cannery Loop is on the other side (southbound) of the divided four lane highway 29.

What? They checked a house because they thought her phone might be there? There's something up with that. And I just now finally got to looking at RSOs in Shipman. There are four or five in that tiny little community.

I pulled up just two with the Lovingston zip code of 22949, and found one with an address on Thomas Nelson Hwy. White male, age 24. I am not sure if I am allowed to list the personal information per the social media rules.

has anyone done a case map yet? I have some time to research all the addresses and I can throw one together

As always...

You rock, Nursie!

OK. Another possibility:

She made numerous references to smoking a little weed and also had pics online of her seemingly smoking it, so I think it's fair to posit this. What if she left the Liberty to go to a dealer's house - who lives on or near Cannery Loop - before she was to head south to L-burg?
