Jaime, I don't really know what was going on with the sailor that night. He kept referring to the hotel as a brothel, but it really wasn't a brothel. It was an old hotel. Curacao is known for it's brothels and several of them are huge. There's one by the airport that's a camp. If he was looking for a prostitute, he should have gone to one of the regular brothels for a choice and a set price.
I wonder if he went into the hotel because of the bar. It was an important spot in that area. It was also off limits to Naval personnel. I'm sure there were lots of problems. Ships pull up to the Otrobanda streets along the canal, and maybe he went to the bar because of the location.
He never said that Amy or the girl she was sitting with were being pimped out. He never said that either of them approached him for sex. Amy's handlers obviously didn't want her talking to anyone because they sent her upstairs as soon as she spoke to the guy. How would they be pimping Amy if they didn't want her to talk? He wasn't very clear with his description of the other woman, either, so I don't know if he even had any contact with her.
I have wondered if this old hotel was a cheap and obscure place for Amy and her handlers to stay while they were doing business. Maybe it was where Amy lived.
