MISSING: Deputies search for Tazewell man

Officials are looking for help from the community to find a man who has been missing for nearly a week. Arthur Muncy, 47, also known as "Achie" disappeared on Feb. 21, 2019.

Mr. Muncy was last seen on Stony Ridge. That is near north Tazewell, Virginia. According to the Aware Foundation, the family believes the disappearance is suspicious. Deputies with the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office said they have an active investigation.

Muncy is a white man who stands 6-feet 2-inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has brown hair and green eyes. He has a Tasmanian Devil tattoo on his upper arm and barbed wire tattoos around his biceps.

The AWARE Foundation is reporting he was found deceased, but I am having a hard time finding a MSM report. RIP.

Body of Tazewell County man found after missing for several days

The body of a Tazewell County man was found after he was reported missing for more than a week.

Sheriff Brian Hieatt told 59 News the body was identified as 47-year-old Arthur Muncy of Stoney Ridge, and was found on a hill in the woods near his home Saturday evening.

Hieatt said the body was sent to the medical examiner, but the investigation is still ongoing.

After following several leads, a geographical search was started in the Stoney Ridge area Saturday morning. The search was then lead by Rescue 7 Wilderness Search and Rescue.

Other agencies assisting in the search included the Sheriff’s Office, Black Diamond Search and Rescue and their K-9 team, Blacksburg Rescue, Southwest Mountain Search and Rescue, Christian Aid Ministries, Blue and Gray Search and Rescue, and the Virginia Department of Emergency Services.

The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the events leading up to Muncy going to the woods and any individuals involved.
