At the time, according to the article, law enforcement suspected the unknown man was associated with some men who had flown into the area and gotten arrested with a large amount of marijuana. The arrested men were from Ft Lauderdale, Florida, West Palm Beach, Florida, and Louisville, Kentucky. I wonder if any of them ever did say whether he was with them or if he matches any missing person cases in Florida or Kentucky, where these men were from.

Quick recon of Ashland Doe. I think this more accurately reflects his appearance than the PM photo on NAMUS.

Richard Allen Rhyne - Texas Missing Person Directory

Noting if missing/discovered date/time is accurate for both Mr. Rhyne (2:35 PM Texas time) and John Doe (and about 2 AM Eastern time per the article), this would be approximately 11 hours difference between missing/discovery land approximately 1400 miles.

Yes, you are right. Likely that Richard Rhyne is not a candidate for our John Doe. Thank you for scrubbing that critical detail. I appreciate that very much.

Welcome. Not impossible of course, and so much that is documented is inaccurate, just something to be considered :)

So I started looking into this John Doe. I found Michael Harp, who went missing from New Mexico on March 23, 197.
Michael was last seen at a hospital located in the vicinity of the 2400 block of S. Telshor Blvd. in Las Cruces, NM. He was sighted a short time later hitchhiking along I-25 near the hospital. He was possibly picked up by a truck driver who indicated he dropped Michael off S. of Albuquerque, NM.

Could he have ended up in VA 4 days later? If he was hitchhiking and with a truck driver it's a possibility.
Here is a side by side. Now that I put the two next to each other, I think the noses look different, along with the eye brows.

If I am reading correctly, Mr. Harp was listed as missing on the same date the John Doe is listed is being found.

Oh yes, you are correct. When I was comparing I had the date wrong for the John Doe by a few days.

Looks like Chillie Falls is alive and well and a cruise ship enthusiast.

Bumping case up. At least they continue to work on it.

Too many young men went missing in the '70s. I am sure he was missed. Maybe reported missing in another state, or his relatives didn't think about making a report, if he left voluntarily.
