He assaulted his child's mother in Georgia with a candlestick. He was on probation and also beat up a man.

Ah good Lord, the information coming out about Brandon Lockett just keeps getting worse and worse.

It's too bad nurishment can't be withheld from him until he fesses up where he dumped this childs body. :furious:

This at least gives us some idea where they have searched so far. I figured once they had done some preliminary (sp?) background checking on him, there would be things that would come out. I know LE is doing all they can but it's so hard not knowing where Aveion is and having some closure on this. As angry as this whole thing has made the community it may be that he won't be able to get a fair trial in Roanoke.

Is it possible that his description of the guys hangin around is a sideways confession that he handed the angel Aveion off to someone? Dang, I keep seeing him in that stroller in Salem, happy and content as a baby should be. (tears) dangit !

If this was already asked, forgive me. Does anyone know when trash day was; as this home is so close to the container?

[Roanoke police Capt. Curtis Davis] believes that there are people who have information, or who could get information, that could lead police to Aveion's body. He urged them to call police at 853-2212.

Seems like they believe he had help?

Also, I don't think we should assume this baby died the afternoon of the faked 'abduction'. Have the police confirmed the last time Aveion was seen alive, and on the statement of someone other than mom / stepdad?

Probably awaiting a lawyer and probably awaiting a plea deal...

I don't believe a criminal defense lawyer would recommend their client withhold such information, or try to bargain a lesser charge in exchange for this. I think this is all Lockett here.

I hate to say this, but I'm beginning to suspect the manner in which Lockett killed Aveion and how he disposed of his body is the reason he won't cooperate. I'm afraid he won't be found *simply* dumped somewhere, or even in a shallow grave.

You could very well be right.

I'm pretty much convinced that Aveion is nowhere around Jamestown Place. I believe with all of those searchers they would have found him by now.

MBLover I have been sitting here thinking the same thing!!! I don't know the name of the road that goes up beside Food Lion but I have been on that road at night trying to help an abused female friend I worked with find a house that was for rent back up in that section. We turned on some road back in the country part and it was deserted looking. What you're saying makes sense...they said they had covered a two mile radius. There are quite a few different directions to go from that area. Since you and I are locals maybe we ought to get together and do some snooping and searching on our own. I'm really good at snooping around!!

That is Rt. 116 and also known as Mt. Pleasant Blvd. Even just as you get onto this road there is dense woods on the right hand side - there's even a cemetery there that can't be seen because it's so overgrown - and if you didn't know it was there you would never see it. But this area would more than likely be in that 2 square mile area the searchers have been searching.

Mill Mountain really would be one heck of a place to hide someone and is a relatively quick access from Jamestown Place. Riverland Road to a left on Ivy to a left to a left on J P Fishburn Parkway. This road takes one to Mill Mtn Zoo and also the Blue Ridge Parkway - which has lots of overlooks and trails.

I would love to do some snooping around - but the weather is going to be a great hinderance as well as picking a spot to begin.

Calliope brought up a thought that this child may never be found because we don't know exactly when Aveion died. BL may have had lots of time to decide where to put this child. BL apparently had lots of time to come up with that very detailed story...IMO I just don't think this was all thrown together in a couple of hours. I also believe BL probably had help in all of this as well - moreso than just the mother if she was in on it.

News7 has discovered the child was just returned to the family less than a year ago. Child Protective Services had taken Aveion Lewis from his home and placed him with a foster family from May 2008 to April 2009.

When Aveion Lewis entered foster care, he was 15-months old and severely underweight, weighing just eight pounds. After a year of foster care, he was another child.

"He gained weight, he became developmentally on target, and we celebrated his success," said Robin Haldiman.

Haldiman is the CEO of the Child Health Investment Partnership of Roanoke Valley, or CHIP.

She and her agency work with low-income families, and worked with Aveion Lewis before and after his time in foster care. She says his death could have been avoided.

"That was our recommendation that he not go back to the biological parents, the parents, because he was thriving so much in foster care," said Haldiman.

Haldiman and her staff are broken hearted.

"And he just gets into your heart. He had so much potential," said Haldiman. "We have to remain ever vigilante for our children and continue to advocate for them."

Whomever signed the order to send that precious baby back to those "people" should be on trial as well. These people need to be held responsible!

I believe it was to be determined Tues or Wed. I think there was some question because Mon was a holiday, so the thought was that the pick up would be pushed back a day.

I'll see if I can find the link.

VaGal - Maybe you can answer this question. Does the City of Roanoke pick up trash at the housing units or is this done by a private contractor?

When was the last time someone other than mom, stepdad and siblings saw Aveion?

I haven't heard that stated by anyone involved with this case.

Police are investigating the death of Roanoke toddler Aveion Lewis as a homicide, and he was living in an unstable home life that at one time prompted authorities to put the child in foster care, according to details in a search warrant unsealed today.

The search warrant, filed Wednesday in Roanoke City Circuit Court, says that Aveion was born with a medical problem that required surgery to remove part of his intestines. As a result, he had a strict feeding schedule and needed medication.

When he was 14 months old, he weighed less than nine pounds, and authorities found that his parents were not following the medical instructions for his care, the search warrant says.

Aveion was removed from his home for 16 months, in which time he doubled his weight, according to the document.
