I'm watching Prime News on HLN...Michelle Sigona said pretty much what's posted on her site:

Around 3:30 p.m. this afternoon, I spoke with Robin Haldiman, CEO of the Child Health Investment Partnership (CHIPS) of Roanoke Valley. She told me their agency was involved with Aveion and his family from an early age. CHIPS makes monthly visits to families to help teach them parenting skills, coordinate health care, and to make sure the child is developing appropriately for their age. They currently have a waiting list, and are helping about 1,100 children per year. The agency is filled with mandated reporters who are required to report abuse and child neglect to Child Protective Services (CPS) if they see issues in the home. If a report is made, CPS will conduct a separate investigation, and if it is necessary they will remove the child. Sadly, this is exactly what the agency had to do with Aveion. Robin says the child was taken out of his home with his mother and placed with a loving foster family from May 2008 – April 2009. Child Protective Services put Aveion back with his mother and when CHIPS came back to the home to do monthly visits, Robin says they were turned away. This service is voluntary, not mandatory. Robin confirms that when Aveion was 15-months-old he was underweight, and when he was placed with his foster family, he began to become healthy again. Robin and the members of her staff who worked with Aveion from early on are heart broken about the loss of this child, and as you can imagine, they grew close with the toddler since he was born.

"That was our recommendation that he not go back to the biological parents, the parents, because he was thriving so much in foster care," said Haldiman.

Haldiman and her staff are broken hearted.

people were trying to save little Aveion - how sad that someone didn't listen :(

respectfully snipped.

Then this childs blood is on the hands of the judge that took him from a loving caring foster home where he was thriving and ordered him back to the Locketts. ESPECIALLY KNOWING THIS CHILD WAS ONLY 8 LBS AT 15 MONTHS OF AGE! :furious: :furious: :furious:

I'd love to know who the judge is that ordered that happen. I think the citizens of Roanoke County deserve to know too. Especially if s/he was elected. The man or woman should be removed from the bench and removed from EVER making a decision about a childs welfare again.

This is a quote from someone on facebook..."My sister in law works with a close friend of the grandmother, who has been given Aveion's 3 siblings for the time being, and she can not get into the house to get their clothes, diapers, wipes, anything, so we are trying to get either donations, or names of places she can go to get these things for free. She is financially unable to buy all these... See More ... See Morethings new, and will accept anything and everything. The sizes are 4t, 24 mo, and 18-24 mos. If you know of anywhere she can go, or have some things to donate, I can arrange for pickup, just send me a message on facebook"...

The grandmother has the children and someone asked the question where is the mother, the person replied she doesn't know where the mother is...they are trying to help these kids and the grandmother.

So in other words the follow up with CHIPS was voluntary? Where was the mandatory required follow up that was explained to us last night? When mom refused access wasn't anyone concerned?

IMO, the 'mandatory' followup would have been by CPS....so -- were they doing their job???

Right, Cubby!!! Why wasn't this a red flag if access was refused? Wouldn't that make somebody wonder what was going on?

If you can get a message to them...

Ram House may be able to help as well as the Presbyterian Community Center there near 13th Street SE

Until further information is released I just don't know if the best place for them is with the grandmother. Also, I'd be VERY LEARY of anyone claiming to be asking for donations for these children. As active as the two uncles have been, I think I would wonder about them being able to help temporarily first.

I just think some unscrupulous people might be out there wishing to take advantage of kind hearted people.

ETA: This is not directed to you beachlvr, but what makes me suspicious of this facebook message you found is that it does not indicate whether they need boys or girls clothes. My immediate reaction is someone wants to collect clothes and go sell them on ebay or something. If this family REALLY needs help with those kids, LE is able to provide the family with resources on where to get those things. Plus I am sure there will be an upcoming custody hearing regarding where the kids should be placed. I believe Grandma wouldn't even have them yet, unless she was already granted temporary custody through the courts......... that facebook message has my hinky meter up. Sorry, but I have just seen too much, and too many people out there who would jump at the chance to take advantage of this tragedy.

CHIPS is different than CPS. CHIPS is a voluntary program. CHIPS can report to CPS if they feel the parents are not doing what has been mandated...but CHIPS is not CPS.

I think I have that correct.

You are so right on this. I would think that the organization that placed the other children with the grandmother would help them with the necessities.

The police's investigation has indicated that Aveion recently suffered burns on both legs from a home heater, the search warrant says. The toddler did not receive medical treatment because of his prior history with the Department of Social Services. The search warrant says Aveion was described as having a "high threshold for pain."

Police searched the Lockett's home and took a number of items including cell phones, a handwritten letter, children's clothing, a pillow, a mattress, a green leafy substance, baby bottles, and prescription medicine.

I don't think I am going to be able to cry until they find Aveions remains... I just don't. Every time I think I am ready to I just get angry again. Too many people failed this little boy. My God did he even see a pediatrician after he was given back to the Locketts? Pediatricians are mandatory reporters. If Mom and the 🤬🤬🤬 stopped showing up for appointments and NO ONE CALLED to have little Aveions medical records transfered wasn't that a red flag? Clearly at least the pediatrician or doctors office would have known this child needed regular medical attention.

When was the last time anyone saw him? Did his extended family even see him for Christmas? What was his health like then?

This child fell through TOO MANY CRACKS.

:( Aveion, I wish I could have taken you away from all this. You deserved to grow up, to go to school, to play with friends. I hope you are playing in heaven little man!

Thank you, Cubby! There was information listed a little later on with the sizes of clothing and someone mentioned RAM house. I would love to help out and actually give diaper, etc if needed but I'm very leary too about ever giving money to anyone when I don't know where the money is going.

BBM. That he did not receive medical treatment because of his prior history with the dept of social services makes no sense.. unless that means BL refused to seek medical treatment because he was AFRAID of the their prior history with the department of social services. :furious:

Hmmm... wonder what that could be. ~rolls eyes~ Well we know what mom and dad were spending their money on instead of FOOD for their kids.

:furious: :furious: :furious:

I didn't think it could get worse and it KEEPS getting worse. I'm afraid it is going to continue to get worse as we learn more and when his remains are found. I still believe his remains will be recovered. I think this BL is such an inhumane MONSTER there is NO WAY anyone is gonna give up on finding this boys body. and I hope this guy gets the death penatly, and I hope mom is locked up too. She KNEW what her 'husband' was doing to her children. They are BOTH RESPONSIBLE.

My suggestion if you, or anyone else is looking into the legitimacy of anyone soliciting donations for needs on behalf of these children would be to contact LE and ask if that is true.... and if so, what organization can you make donations too.

Here, for example, when the women go to a DV shelter with kids, they are given vouchers to go to approved resale shops and get the items they need. I'm going to guess something similiar occurs in other areas as well.

Just look at what BL was arrested for in Georgia...cocaine...green leafy substance goes right along with it.

This is so sad to know that he suffered so much...

Just watched wsls news and they had some other pictures of Aveion on there. He looked happy in them. They must have been taken at his foster family's place.

This breaks my heart. I love my two grandbabies so much and it hurts to know that lil Aveion will never know love ever again. It's at least comforting to know that the foster parents loved him.
