What I just don't get is why kill the baby?
I can understand that he many have been a 'high-maintainance' baby, what with the feeding issues, buying special food (if they did), repeat doctor visits, etc.
What I can't understand is why kill him? Why not give him to a family member to raise, and barring that, take him to a police/fire station or hospital and drop him off? The bad news is that, in Virginia, the Into Safe Arms law only allows a baby up to 2 weeks old and unharmed to be dropped off. But still, run up, knock and run away!
As a side-topic (being not quite off-topic!), I was shocked while searching for the dropping off baby laws to find this
http://tinyurl.com/yfybszj It is a pro-adoption website that is adament that Safe Haven Laws be stopped, because that provides less children to be available for adoption! Sounds awfully self-serving to me ... shouldn't it be about the child's safety and well-being?!
Or, was Aveion THE child that was 'hated' and abused in the family. If any of you can stomach it, please read the book "The Boy Named It" by Dave Pelzer (along with his follow-up book). It is his autobiography, detailing the obscene abuse he had from his mother, while his father stood by and did nothing. There were other children in the home, and he never quite understood why he was the one designated as "It."
