When he arrived on scene, Fields was in handcuffs sitting on the side of the road where he was pulled over. Kirschnick described Fields as calm and wide-eyed. He was also sweating profusely and cooperative.

Kirschnick said Fields had a stain on his shirt and a light smell of ammonia. He also said Fields said he felt light-headed and asked to sit down at the police department.
