I have my doubts about the Mom as well. She definitely must have been aware of his abusive personality and temper if he had hurt her before. I wouldn't leave my child with someone like that for a second, father of the child or not. I think there's more to this story and I understand that people in the community are talking, to be honest.

Five days later, Cory’s mother Samantha Warden, started receiving phone calls about the tent being gone and multiple balloons appearing to have been stabbed by a sharp object. Warden went out to the memorial Friday and noticed the teddy bear she left with a special message to her son had been taken, including other items.

She says most of the teddy bears and candles were knocked down and balloons were deflated. She says her family searched for the tent far into the woods, but there was no sign of it.

18 months we have been trying unsuccessfully to have a baby, we would love a boy.

I am sorry. I really wish people like this would just give their baby up. There are so many couples like you out there that would not only take the baby in with out thinking but also give it a better home then most.

My DD was in an abusive relationship - she dared to leave - he beat her so badly she was hospitalised.

HE was given the children to take care of until she was conscious and gave his name as her attacker.

He STILL has contact with the children (apparently, he abused the mother, but not the children, social services don't feel they are in danger)

I'm going to go a little easy on the Mum here.

Mother of baby Cory Samuel Cole has been arrested and charged with felony child neglect! Guess that's why she was quiet!!!

Samantha Warden, the mother of a 5-month-old boy who was found dead, was arrested Wednesday night on a warrant for felony child neglect.

The cause of his death has not been released by authorities. Roche has said that when the medical examiner’s autopsy report is complete, it could prompt additional charges.

When asked if she noticed anything different about Cole the night Cory went missing, Warden said, “On that night that he took Cory I was here (visiting her uncle, C.J. Eaton, and current boyfriend, Mike Altizer); I left my son with Cole and Lauren (Warden) and my brother (Richard Warden). He (Cole) lived there with us but he was never left alone at the house,” but Warden said she did not have any reason to feel uncomfortable about leaving Cory with Cole.

Just a couple of hours ago, Samantha Warden, the baby's mother, was arrested at a Campbell County home for a warrant out of Pulaski County.
Pulaski Police say Warden is charged with class four felony child neglect.

She files a police report saying Cory was picked up out of his crib and thrown 4ft onto another bed. Then claims he never abused any of the kids! Then claims he had been reported before because he left bruises on Cory's face when a few days old.

“He was never mean or harmed any child, period,” Warden said. “He was never mean to Cory.”

The affidavit appears to conflict with statements Warden made Feb. 5 to The Roanoke Times. Warden said then that she was having a hard time comprehending the allegations against Cole because she said she had never seen him abuse her children. In addition to Cory, Warden and Cole have a 3-year-old daughter together, and Warden has a 6-year-old daughter with her ex-husband.

“My son was crying howard got aggravated with my son crying & he picked him up from his crib held him in the air & said shut the fock [sic] up & threw him down on the bed across the room 4ft,” according to the affidavit.

Well I was waiting for tears, and cries up being upset. No emotion at all. Speaking at the vigil, and then speaking about someone vandalizing the memorial....attention seeking behaviors! It's sickening that this child had noone protecting him! And I hope they reinvestigate the other baby that died as well!

"My intentions were just to help her and as the stories were changing that's when I felt like I had to do something. I had to say something," said Craft.
Noticing the amount of luggage Warden brought Craft became concerned she was about to leave the state.
So he called Pulaski investigators - who that same afternoon had filed the neglect charge against Warden.

"Any innocent person when you get arrested you are going to have some type of shock. And she did not show any emotion at all," said Craft.

Samantha Warden, whose legal name is Samantha Taylor, is still being held in the Campbell County Jail waiting to be taken back to Pulaski.
