On May 29, 2017, police were called to Cox Landing Drive, where they found Denzel Labiche with a gunshot wound. He died shortly after.
In June, Shanon Hodges was wanted in connection with his death.
Since then, Hodges was brought from Hawaii back to Newport News and is charged with second-degree murder, abduction, discharging a firearm in an occupied building and using a firearm in a felony.
