Actually, he was spotted a few days before the sighting was reported. I suspect that whoever spotted the possible "Sketch" guy wasn't certain but decided to report it after the Hannah Graham case gained more publicity. So, if it was him, he was there between Friday and Sunday.

 I will think of that any time I see JVM (or NG) and her panelists! Ha ha.

I'm among the group that was watching and just had to turn it off. I am glad her face is out there and I hope that enough others saw it flipping through that maybe it'll help.

Did I miss if she mentioned the similarities with Lauren S? I hope her parents are able to piggyback off this to perhaps get it back in the media in their area, especially.

And I hope that more people start talking about the issues of college kids going missing while leaving somewhere intoxicated and while alone
. We can't keep having more of these when it's something so preventable in so many cases!

I so agree. Nobody, especially young women, should go out drinking alone. It is so dangerous. It makes me sad to see her walking alone down that hallway on her way out, all dressed up, but by her self. It is not safe. I wish it was different as I am all for women feeling independent and empowered, but it is what it is. Too many sex offenders and miscreants around to mess with the vulnerable. And being drunk and alone makes one very vulnerable. Male or female.

That is my main rule for my daughter. She and her friends must STAY TOGETHER when they are out at parties or clubs. And I send her links to these cases to try and make her understand this.

I dont understand why they havent seen Hannah on any surveillance cams.

That's not very constructive or nice. If you don't have plans to do anything but criticize or mock, then please move on.

That's so strange about LE rescinding on the contents/intent of the text. How would autocorrect lead to street names that are verifiably known to Hannah, and close to where she was last seen? Unless the issue is the word "lost," but I just played around with my phone for a bit and it's hard to see what else that could've been. The "lots of things happen when texts get sent" comment kind of sounds like backtracking, IMO— directed at a POI (whether known or unknown). Sort of reminds me of Willow Long's case in which LE already had their eyes on the suspect because of his behavior when she was first reported missing, but they still made statements to the effect of "we think she is reenacting a princess adventure in a cornfield." :(

Sorry if this has been discussed (I hate pretending I know what I'm talking about when I talk about "pings"..) but what geographical information can be gleaned from a sent iMessage/text message? If it's discovered the message came from nowhere near the mentioned areas, that would be a good reason to detract.. and offer autocorrect as a crappy excuse.

I'm just too on the fence about whether or not a perp could've sent that. In Kelly Bordeaux's case, the fabricated text legitimately bought Nick time, unfortunately. "I think I'm just gonna grab a cab and crash" or "I just ran into some people and think I'll stay out with them, sorry to bail" etc etc would've made way more sense than a message that immediately confused/alarmed her friends — the perp COULDN'T have ruled out that she didn't know the area. I'm thinking about my own university town — if it were someone older, perhaps affiliated with the school/city, even they couldn't rule out that she knew the area if it's near or on the way to campus/other student housing. If the area COULD contain student housing etc, it's still a gamble. If the area contains neither, why would a student be stumbling around there? Cause for immediate concern on behalf of whoever received the text.

If a perp sent it, he's not local, and picked a random intersection. One that is very far from where he actually went with her.

If she sent it.. she must've been impaired in a very strange way beyond just being drunk. Specific location, general coherency, but nonsensical conclusion. I've been drunk and lost before in college (shame/regret, trust me) and immediately called friends/boyfriend to stay on the phone with me and give me directions based on landmarks. Being drunk enough to make a decision so silly that late at night, I was barely able to describe the football stadium as I passed by. Texting someone cross streets..? If I could identify those I'd be using a map app on my phone.

Okay, back to the perp-sent-it side of the fence.

I also think the dogs must have traced her sent to where she would've gotten in a car. If the scent continued in a more ambiguous way, a general street/direction, I can't see LE not releasing that information, to increase tips/sightings etc. They must know a whole lot more, possibly making it look to a POI like they don't even know she was ever in a car.
All MOO.

I agree! I'm not sure why this keeps getting mentioned. Alexis Murphy wasnt white and her case became 'famous' right away. We have more important things to worry about here.

from my limited knowledge, I don't see a problem with the time of the text vs what else we were told with where she was.

The McGrady's Irish Pub is less than a mile from the intersection of 14th and Wertland. Even though she was seen via the pub camera leaving in an easterly direction (and 14th and Wertland is in the WEST direction), it is very possible with the timeline (12:45 at the pub, 1:20 text) that she got really confused and doubled back via another adjacent street. When you are lost, you often go around in circles.

Just a sidenote but every single time I go to Cville I get lost. Its not the easiest city to navigate sober but I am directionally challenged.

Hey, we only want objective thinkers here. Move along please.

I agree.

Anyone remember, was it when Lauren first went missing that we had a local who went all around and photographed where all the cameras were in the area she had been in?

I think it was that one and then they all got marked on a map and we were trying to use it to see where she would or would not have been able to pass by based on the cameras (and which other places should be asked to look)

It'd be great if it could be done again with this one!

Is there anyone on here who has good knowledge about bloodhounds? I would be interested to know if they tend to go in the direction of the freshest scent... therefor the last place she would have been detected?

Your post made me laugh. I am also directionally challenged and get lost in Cville. It is not easy to get around there by car, let alone by foot!

I wonder how legitimate the W&L sighting is. It's possibly people around campuses are more alert and edgy and that this suspect has just been re publicized with this new attention.

I live in Orange and have second hand connections to both Hannah and Morgan so this case is extra upsetting to me.

So sorry Blueberry. I also wonder about the W&L sighting too. But it is right off of 81/64 not far from UVa. IF this sighting is true, we have three universities in the area where the MH suspect has been seen.

Ch. 29 news
"The search shifted Tuesday due to surveillance footage that showed Graham in front of McGrady's Irish Pub the night she was last seen. Search teams continued to look in the area of 14th and Wertland streets, but also moved east along Preston Avenue, near McGrady's. At one point Tuesday morning, police cordoned off and searched the area of Roosevelt Brown Boulevard and King Street, near UVA Medical Center. Several of the search teams intend to continue through the night."

I used to live in the Charlottesville area, around where HG was last seen. Stayed at a friend's house a few times on Albemarle St, right next to Preson Ave E. I would hang out at the downtown mall and then walk home at night along Preston, always got the creeps walking there. There is a shopping center that goes dark at night near there and there is a train overpass that freaked me out at night. Where Albemarle St dead ends into Preston, there are no homes and there were always shady characters hanging out there late at night when I would walk home (post-midnight). I've attached a picture of the area (doesn't look bad during the day) Likely no bearing on this case, but it wouldn't take much to grab a drunk girl there and make off with her.

But he was spotted today, so he must have a name.

I think that post was a little misleading. Someone matching his description was spotted. It wasn't necessarily him, but could have been. Probably after Hannah was reported missing, people were being super vigilant about noticing anything or anyone. It could also be someone being a jerk and just reporting they saw him to stir the pot.

Why is MH mentioned in almost every case of a young female? And, why is RAT being brought up? He's in prison.

Welcome to Websleuths!

Thank you! I've been here before, during the Alexis Murphy time, but I lost my log in info. I'm so sick about this. Morgan, Alexis, Sage, Hannah.....so many other before that. :(
