Defence attorneys love high profile cases like this I believe attorneys who are on this board have said the same. He is likely going to be represented pro bono. The publicity is priceless especially if he gets reduced charges, a not guilty or dropped charges, but really if he just looks good. Plus his name will get out there, very important in getting well heeled clientale in trouble.

I think so. JM arrived at police station with a list of lawyers he wanted them to call. According to Longo, they called the first one and he came down, I'm presuming it was JM's first preference. This has not been clarified officially though

He was a Commonwealth attorney (prosecutor). Most criminal defense attorneys were once prosecutors.

I meant before that. Although it could be his military stint put him behind in starting college.

But your assertion that there is no reason for the family to hire an attorney for themselves is based on assumptions that may or may not be true.

Didnt say that...just that this type of attorney is not really needed for anything the family may or not be having to deal with. Of course, that's assuming they are not harboring and abetting.

Hello, everyone. This is my first post, but have been reading since the MH case about five years ago. I love all of the input from people on this board!

The strangest thing to me right now is the fact that there were no pleas to the public during the press conference yesterday to be careful because a dangerous person was at large. Coupled with the "we just want to talk to him" lines from LE, it just strikes me as so counter to the messaging we normaly get when there is a confirmed suspect in a case like this. I don't know what to make of it, but it certainly doesn't seem like LE is as vocal in their concern for his whereabouts for public safety purposes. What to make of this?

It seems he had a fair bit of interaction with his family prior to his first meeting with the LEOs. I can't help but wonder if they helped assemble the list. Or maybe he opened the Yellow Pages...

If the attorney knows where JM is and is keeping him under wraps, could he be in trouble if that word got back to LE? Now that JM has been announced as a suspect, could the attorney be in trouble for something similar to obstruction of justice?

No it isn't. However, the chief did say that LE interviewed friends who interacted with JM before he was seen on the mall video. It appears he is wearing the same white shorts and crew socks and black shoes that were seen in the video.

We have several defense attorneys in Richmond who are similar to this guy. Respectable win record, penchant for taking on cases and defending people many lawyers would never touch.

Some of them have illustrious records working as a prosecuting attorney just like Camblos. Im sure I am not alone in wondering what causes someone like them to start defending the suspects they used to prosecute.

When you walk into the courtroom with one of these guys, people pretty much assume you are guilty but they are often good enough to get scum like this off, many times on a technicality....and for a price...of course.

Makes JLM look even more guilty...at least in my eyes.

Camblos has never beat the FBI and State for that matter. he has a local win record and in that area. Big time lol he is far from Big, Camblos wont win. Its stupid to take the case and ruin your own lawyer name taking on the State and FBI. They(fbi and state) have 98% win rate the other 2% loss come from the guilty taking deals. Trust me..I have done it( took on the fi and state) & I have lost. Its impossible to win for starters and second they bring guys you never heard of to take you on.

Only 2 lawyers from Richmond have won a case versus the state and FBI. Its not hard to beat the VA state by it self ok , but the FBI/DEA. that's hard. They have their own group of people some never heard of. They are real damn good, have you second guessing your self. You can sleep eat, and breath law know all the books in and out by heart and will learn something new in that court session .

He is might is going to retire soon, he just doing for the pay day, maybe the challenge. he has had a good career. He has really lost nothing if he lose. Which is sure to happen. Only a mafia lawyer or over seas lawyer can beat the State and FBI.

As you acknowledge, a fellow student offered to walk Hannah home. She declined. Hannah is an adult and her decisions must be respected; Hannah is responsible for her own actions, not the other students. Everyone knows that college students are going to drink, always have and always will -- no matter what the law states. Pushing the drinking age to 21 only gives society the means to give otherwise law abiding young adults a criminal record early in life. Parents should teach their children to make good decisions and to not take unnecessary risks. I for one do not want any action taken against the other students -- they feel bad enough. Even if a fellow student walked Hannah home, what would stop her from going out again. Please do not blame the other students. I do not want to see her classmates tarnished by this event.

Very true. The only exception I would make to this would be a situation involving pledging a sorority.
