CNN just announced that there will be a 3:00 press conference.
Are Sunday press conferences typical? I've only followed a few very specific cases here, don't really know standard LE procedure for pressers.

I am unsure what LE can do with a match for DNA if they did not have a warrant to obtain it...Gitana, are you here?

Eh, not unheard of. Especially after a weekend search.

that's not true. if you have nothing to hide, you lawyer up. there are many many ways things can go wrong, and many ways your words can be twisted. you need to protect yourself. cops are legally allowed to lie to you to get you to say a certain thing. talk to a lawyer. they've seen everything and will tell you how it is. you don't talk to LE without a lawyer when you're very associated with a case. period.

LE can be very intimidating sometimes. One night I had the FBI (the FBI!!) charge up to my house with strobe lights and all (on our dark, private street), asking me questions about my husband, who was out of town on a hunting trip. They would NOT tell me why they were asking me this stuff, although I repeatedly asked why. I was terrified but I cooperated (never even thought of calling a lawyer), and they finally did tell me that he had witnessed a huge bank robbery earlier in the day in Reno.

OTOH, if they are on an urgent manhunt, waiting for a person to call a lawyer before answering any questions could sure delay their progress.

Seems to me that if LE has discovered that that HG indeed WAS in his car AND he has directly told LE that she was NOT, then they would be much closer to considering him to be a suspect. For now, he is a POI. We heard on Friday, that they really want to talk to him. Perhaps they have, by now. But a DailyMail report about his granny saying that she heard from his mother that he said HG was not in his car, is not quite the same as HIM saying that to investigators............so let's just see what the press conference reveals. JMO

Nothing illegal about having her in his car with him so leaving with him alone will not make him a suspect. There needs to be evidence of a crime. I believe that the police obtained a warrant for the car first and, based upon what they found, they obtained a warrant for the apartment. We don't know what else they have, additional video? Long story short, I do not believe that LE would take the steps that they have taken unless they have evidence that she left with him.

Wow 408 browsing this thread... so many guests....
Seems I leave a post and when I come back there's a new thread.
Yet, nothing really new as evident by the news thread that's rather small:
http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...Media-Maps-Photos-etc-**NO-DISCUSSION**/page2

My thoughts - the POI is a big guy, what is he 6 + and 270 lbs! Wow, one scary dude - would you get in a car with him?
But if he seemed okay, she might have wanted to walk with him, feeling protected... but then she's left out in the open.. so that doesn't make sense...

Okay, see you next thread... ha!

I posted this on the media thread but I am posting here again. JM has been confirmed as the taxi driver.

Can you remind me why this is of interest? I've seen the link posted, but I've never gotten the connection.

I'm way behind, but she thought she was going one direction on Main, when in fact she was going the opposite direction on Preston. Arrows show direction she was moving, or thought she was moving.

It isn't that it is off on locations, but the walking path was confusing by the green Line that you have cutting across. There is another map with a more accurate walking path.

There was a lot of discussion about LE possibly seeing something in the car to develop the additional search warrants. According to this, that is not how it happened. Hope this helps clarify.

"The first warrant was a search and seizure warrant for a vehicle that was executed shortly after midnight. When police arrived at the apartment building and seized the car, a person connected to the car was in his apartment with two others. Police identified those individuals, but the officer did not feel he had the grounds to detain the individuals, Longo said.

After seizing the car and taking it to an undisclosed location for the full search, investigators developed probable cause and sought approvals for the two other warrants. Police arrived back at the apartment shortly after 10 a.m. and the three individuals were no longer inside, Longo said."

So, where is JM now? Does LE know or is he in hiding?

I haven't seen any evidence that LE has spoken to him more than during the initial seizure of the car, or that he's lawyered up.

I was wondering that too but I've heard of them getting it off a cup or glass before after following them on surveillance before- And successfully using it to arrest a person if there's a match.
If they had a warrant for his house then it seems to me they could get it from a toothbrush? Hmmmm?

Some runners (myself included) have a horrible sense of direction. I almost missed a graduate school interview because I went on a run and got confused in a warren den of streets within a few blocks of where I was staying. When I was in college, the area I used to run to from my apartment was in a different direction from downtown and I basically went some variation (shorter or longer loop) of the same route each time to avoid getting lost. It takes me years to develop a good mental map of an area, and my expertise is in memory -- you'd think I'd figure out a way! I agree that she wasn't lost every single moment, but I think she could have been having that experience of thinking she knew where she was going, then realizing she wasn't where she thought, then doubling back a little, then getting confused again.

LOL I actually have a great sense of direction.......but I have nightmares about getting lost all the time. OT JMO

As a runner myself, I have to agree with all of this. I run a trail system that loops around and forks off, connects with highways and streets. It has taken me four years to really be confident in directions there. I tend to zone out a little while running and not pay attention to landmarks. Whoops. Not good, but I'm trying to do better.

It may or may not be of interest in this case. I was just clarifying that it was him since people were wondering about it on another thread.

On the other hand, his being a taxi driver most likely means he is very familiar with the area. Which may or may not be of interest.

Oh my goodness, he definitely resembles the picture of the suspect they released with MH's investigation in the taxi photo.

Thank you! Yet, I was reminded last night that this wasn't MH's thread. Mind you, it wasn't a mod. :) smh
