Thanks to everyone for the good company and comments!
Will be interesting to see what happens with the pledged donations and whether there will be any legal repercussions, potential perjury in UK court, breach of promise etc. I bet JD foresaw the situation when he attempted to make payments directly.
His attempt to pay directly was a strategic master fencing stroke, showing that he knows her and knows she has no intention of paying, lol.
the best part about it was, with the exception of her $350,000… he was right!
at the time I remember thinking, ‘I bet his accountant derived a great deal of pleasure from writing that cover letter and check, haha.’
Whaaa? What mountain of evidence?! Was she even at the same trial?!
Her response is bordering on defamatory. She better be tread lightly.
As previously stated, Vinnie P. really did not like her first paragraph… He said it was treading ‘dangerously close’ to the language from the just-slapped op Ed…
It's not as easy to discern what is opinion and fact in online media. I don't know the year of the study referenced below below but I'd guess newspaper subscribers numbers have dropped even more since then.
The study, titled
Americans and the News Media: What they do — and don’t — understand about each other, found that 75% of the general public said it was “very” or “somewhat” easy to distinguish news articles from opinion pieces in the news outlet they rely on most often. But only 43% said they could easily tell the difference on Twitter or Facebook.
Those who subscribe to a newspaper seem more knowledgeable than nonsubscribers: The study reported that 70% of subscribers to local papers said they could easily tell the difference between news and opinion, while fewer than half (49%) of nonsubscribers said they were able to do so.
Nearly 8 in 10 journalists say their employers should make the difference between news and opinion pieces more distinct.

CNN does this in particular online and it‘s SO sus, IMO… all they’re counting on, is a large proportion of people simply reading the headlines, and assuming all this specious scurrilously termed junk is in fact factual, instead of someone‘s opinion… personally if it’s their opinion/an editorial, I’d only give 5 percent more credence to a Chris Cilizza than I would, like, to Kelly Ripa… reporting on the basis of something someone else has written, doesn’t make you an expert.
"The question is if she says, 'Look, I don't have it. It's not there — you can look in my bank accounts,' then we can talk about things like garnishing her wages," said CBS News legal contributor Jessica Levinson.
Heard also has the option of filing for bankruptcy, which would eliminate the $10 million in compensatory damages, Spurgeon said. But she'd still be on the hook for the $350,000 in punitive damages, which generally can't be discharged in a bankruptcy.
Depp could also decide not to execute the judgment, in effect waiving the monetary damages, Spurgeon said.
… be pretty poetic if he asked for all that in discovery, got it, exposed it and then said ‘nevermind’, wouldn’t it?
The merchandise cut wasn’t affected?
…do you know, he didn’t say…. It probably was, his main point was IMO, Disney is happy to still sell the stuff, take the profits, and didn’t discontinue it.
I was mostly trying to point out that he was masterfully and deservedly compensated on his contracts; and also that he’s lucky he IS the commodity. He doesn’t need money or anything tangible to make money… just his incredibly fertile brain, lol.
