You are so right. But, I just don't see AH getting approval for an appeal.
no need to petition for an appeal in VA- you just file

Under S.B. 1261, civil litigants will now have the right to appeal final judgments to the Court of Appeals of Virginia, beginning on January 1, 2022. This legislation will have a substantial impact on civil litigation practice in Virginia, the last state to allow an appeal as of right in civil cases.Oct 1, 2021

@Mominmi You picked a fascinating trial to follow! This was like a movie in so many ways. The nuances were vast and each with a history of their own! I will never forget it!
It was great to follow along with the best posters. I learned so much from y'all.

Nothing to lose except jail-time. No money will pass from my pocket.

The 36-year-old actress is “really excited” about the potential new work as sources told OK! magazine Heard has “nothing to lose” now that the proceedings are over in the highly publicised dispute.

I do not think these "sources" understand how the world works... though on the bright side, this phrasing may mean that she has already decided she won't try to appeal, which would go a long way towards ending the long national nightmare.

Im probably not doing this right. But if she owes him $8 mil and she has to pay 6% of that, it would be $480,000 she needs to come up with to appeal?

She has no money!!! ( Per EB statement)
She cannot pay her lawyers! ( Per EB statement)

She has to shop at...gasp!...TJMax!!! ( Per TMZ)

IMO, she will not file an appeal.

No, Angenette said the full amount plus 6 percent interest per year so, almost 9 million to appeal

Im glad JD didn't let her off the hook. I believe she can file bankruptcy on the award for defamation but not the punitive damages. Again. I may be wrong about that too. If she is planning on writing a tell all to raise money, I dont think it will be as easy as she may think. Finding a publisher may be impossible. They know no one will buy a book of lies. Her PR team probably were the ones that put that out there. Maybe it was a ploy thinking JD would drop the judgment to shut her up. jmo.
