Was anything about a sexual assault mentioned by AH in the UK trial? I haven't even looked at that aspect.

No doubt everything will get uglier as this trial progresses, and probably the ugliest will be AH on the stand. jmo

I'm pretty sure I read that the SA is new for this trial and was never mentioned at the UK trial.

The court reporter is late
Little update on why we're a bit behind schedule today - apparently the word in court is that the court reporter is stuck in traffic...

Let's face it, we've all been there. I'm sure we'll be starting any minute!

The cross examination of Depp by Heard's team now continues.

Heard's lawyer asks Depp if he agrees whether abuse can come in different forms - including physical, emotional, verbal and psychological.

Depp, agrees adding "sometimes they can flow into one another".

An audio recording is played in which we can hear Heard and Depp arguing and Heard can be heard criticising the action of one person "putting a cigarette out" on someone else. Depp can be heard replying to her and saying, "shut up fat arse".

A second recording is then played with the couple arguing again and Heard seeming to tell Depp off for "not coming to say goodbye".

Excerpts from a third clip are played, and we are told this is longer (hence only being played parts of it). Heard's team say they are currently trying to verify whether "a third person is included in it".

In it we can hear Depp saying: "Walking away is necessary... Otherwise it's just going to be a bloodbath... Like it was on the island... It's just not worth it".

Heard replies: "No one in their right mind is going to chose bloodbath over walking away". She goes on to say it's not a "discernible choice" like that. She goes on "I'm not asking you to have a bloodbath over walking away, I'm asking you to work it out over prolonging it and making it bigger".

It appears that Rottenborn had a busy weekend…

More clips are played to the court, again seeming to be recordings of arguments between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.

The couple were in the habit of recording some of their disputes for use in couples therapy. While both were aware of some of the recordings, Depp has previously said that Heard would sometimes record their disputes without his knowledge.

In one clip Heard can be heard seeming to compare her relationship to Depp with former relationships, to which Depp yells back: "Because you're a f****** c***".

Another clip includes angry shouting from both parties, and Depp yelling at the top of his voice: "This is not helping, you stupid f***".

A third clip seems to include Heard saying: "Get off me" and they couple then continuing to shout at one another as Depp sounds like he gets up to leave, repeating "I'll talk to you later, I'll talk to you later".

All of the clips we're being played show the relationship was clearly very volatile at points, however as they are just audio recordings it's sometimes hard to understand exactly what was going on at the time.

Ouch Johnny bit snarky this morning.

Good morning! After waiting for 30 minutes to finally start, we get audio excerpts of AH and JD's arguments.
Many many divorced couples have them. These are recorded, however. I so dislike the "C" word used, but it seems the defense is highlighting that to inflame the jury. We have seen it and heard it multiple times throughout this trial. The verbal abuse by both of them was noted.

All this bleeped cherry picking (a trial tactic, though they can’t do much about the bleeps) aren’t really helping, and don’t really indicate what happened in a conversation.

also, nothing in their syntax that we have heard, commits to ‘blood bath’ being in any way literal, instead of metaphorical.

JD: they are similar words with different meanings (re: the term "hit the wall")

Context is everything.

lol, it’s clearly a statement about meeting up against an impenetrable barrier/roadblock; and Rottenborn is clearly super vested in making us believe some sort of weird literal interpretation where they (at minimum) slammed each other into walls.

Rottenborn tried to get a text between JD and Ryan Adams admitted. Objected by JD's team. Judge said no. ( Ryan Adams was accused of DV by his partner years ago )

There it is again..... the 'C' word.....
Fact: JD used the 'C' word.....
Fact: JD abused drugs and alcohol
Moving on.....

TY Shotgun09. I thought they said Bryan Adams and was waiting for a "cuts like a knife" meme to show up.

The court is now being shown a text sent by Johnny Depp to his agent, Bruce Witkin in 2015. In it Depp writes: "Amber and I hit the wall. HARD!!!"

Heard's lawyer says Depp often used the phrase "hitting the wall" in different communications about Heard.

We now look at a text Depp sent to Depp's bodyguard Malcolm Connolly in February 2016. In it Depp writes: "I will never mention this C**** name again!!! EVER AGAIN!!!". Depp seems to be lamenting his relationship with Heard. Heard's lawyer says this text was sent around the same period a video was shot by Heard showing Depp slamming kitchen cupboards and shouting. The court has previously been shown this video.

I suspect the jury has the ability to see right through Rottenborn's tactics.
