Asked if there was a name she used when referring to Depp's different self, she says: "We called it the monster".

Mr Chew asks Ms Pennington to clarify who she means by "we" and she goes on to say the term was used by herself, Heard, Depp and those in their inner circle.

The lawyer asks: "You heard Johnny refer to this other version of himself as the monster directly?"

"Either heard or saw it written in a text," Ms Pennington responds.

Ms Pennington begins to tear up as she describes the relationship Heard and Depp shared, saying: "I was sad for her and I was also sad for Johnny because he is my friend too and I really wanted them to be able to get it together."

Asked about the type of harm she was worried about for Heard, Ms Pennington continues: "In the beginning I wasn't worried.

"Towards the end when the physical abuse was more evident I was worried. I was worried for her physical safety, I was worried that when he turned he might do something that was worse than he intended."

I don't buy it for a moment that the make-up artist AH was so darned good, she was able to flawlessly cover up black eyes and a possibly broken nose, before AH appeared on the James Corden show. The only other explanation that makes any sense, is that the "injuries" weren't real in the first place.
