Phew. This witness is a dick. This would not go over well with me if I was a juror.

I completely disagree. I think he just put off the entire jury. And the country, lol.
i don't know how this will play out but I think first time I have seen one questioned...I always thought it was agreed upon in general...it may work for JD team

I'm behind - he said there was no glass in the wound, but didn't the security guard and a nurse try to clean up the wound before JD went to the hospital?

So basically this expert witness in IPV, is actually, not at all an expert on IPV.
Good to know.
:)

This witness is expressing too much sarcasm in my opinion …

This psychiatrist is a narcissist

This witness is getting kind of... what's the word I'm looking for? Indignant? Ticked off he's having his credentials questioned?
Outrageously pompous?
My impression, exactly. Arrogant man.

Incredible outcome of that questioning! He's very clearly an expert in all things psychiatry and certainly deals with people who have been severely traumatised -but- that was really quite a thing, he's not got much credentials with IPV

Witness is coming across as very obnoxious and arrogant

I can't imagine AH's team isn't regretting finding this guy to testify.
I mean, if I were her laywer, I'd sure be regretting it right about now.

Not only is he NOT an expert in the field they claim he is, he's just rude as heck.
o_O

He reminds me of AH when she was on the stand actually. Very similar vibe. MOO

just saw AH's attire today. She is going for the Colonel Sanders' look??? She is a beautiful woman that almost seems to be trying to look as bad a possible some days. Not sure I get it but all part of the plan I guess.
JD’s first wedding

Nice plug for his book. Red flag?
this will be a very tough direct for EB....non stop objections and sidebars...all calculated and at this stage of the trial probably not well received by the jury. I have to think they just want to get the case. I think this Dr. has a poor attitude and will be really worked over by the cross. Another fail for AH team.

This psychiatrist is a narcissist

Old white men who are at the top of their career ladder in such a western medical model, embedded deep in academia and the patriarchy, are generally like this. He's 'of his time' I would say, a dying breed. Narc traits are bound to be high as these types are always so certain and self-assured and no-one's ever challenged their status, altho doubt he's got actual NPD IMO, he's just defensive.

Smug little grin on this Drs face towards the jury when he said he asked to interview Mr Depp twice and was denied.
I don't like this guy.

Intimate partner violence (IPV)

Expert witness, psychiatrist David R Spiegel tells the court he has published two articles on trauma, and within those articles he wrote about intimate partner violence (IPV).

He says it's important for the jury to understand that IPV can be physical, phycological and sexual, and that it can be carried out for different reasons including maintaining power, control or authority. He says while the abuse itself is obviously a key factor, the motivation behind it is also important to understanding each situation.

He is a witness for Amber Heard's team, but before he is fully questioned Johnny Depp's team are disputing his qualifications. They are raising the fact that he has nothing specifically about IPV on his CV; has not written anything specifically with IPV in the title; and while he has written articles and parts of a book about trauma, he has not specifically written about the subset of IPV.

Dr Spiegel disagrees, saying IPV is part of trauma, and so he has written about IPV at length. The questioning becomes a little testy, and after Dr Spiegel is asked to elaborate about the book he published, he fires back to Heard's lawyer: "Thanks for the book plug". The dispute continues, and will be noted in the judges records, but now he will continue being questioned by Heard's team.

If Depp is supposed to be the third witness they call…he’ll be on next

All his IPV opinions have been shot out of the water. Likewise that he hasn't interviewed JD.

He might be of more use when it comes to substance use effects.

So, basically, he's here to declare JD an addict. Well, I think we all know that now. Not all addicts behave the same, not all are violent, not all are rapists, not all are thieves etc. So he's gona get shot down.

"repetitive behaviours for means of control"--yes, it sounds like AH
