Amber Heard hashtags analysis disputed

Social media and internet analytics expert Doug Bania is being asked for his opinion on testimony given by Ron Schnell, another social media expert, and entertainment expert Kathryn Arnold earlier in the trial.

Mr Bania tells the court that "generally... Mr Schnell provided no evidence" of a correlation between statements made by Johnny Depp's lawyer Adam Waldman about Amber Heard and hashtags that were written about her on Twitter.

Earlier in the trial, Mr Schnell told the court about some of the negative hashtags he found about Heard between April 2020 and January 2021. They included:

#WeJustDontLikeYouAmber
#AmberTurd
#AmberHeardIsAnAbuser

Mr Schnell said the majority of messages also contained the words "hoax, fraud, fake" - similar to words used by Mr Waldman.

Mr Bania says he also analysed the same data to see if the tweets "contained the Waldman statements".

A reminder - the Waldman statements are three quotes published in the Daily Mail in April 2020 and June 2020, which form the basis of Heard's counterclaim for libel against Depp. She says these statements damaged her career.

Mr Bania tells the court his analysis shows that 35% of the negative tweets were prior to the Waldman statements being made. Just 2% of the tweets were posted during the period in which the statements were published, between April 2020 and June 2020, he says.

I love the way this witness speaks at the right speed, not too slow and not too fast, and he is explaining everything carefully to us with these charts.

He is an amazing expert witness. Clear, concise, simple but thorough and very likeable demeanour.

How is the AH team going to rebut these figures ?

I think they will be having a tense lunch.

Amber Heard's 'chemistry' - or lack of - with Jason Momoa in Aquaman films

Walter Hamada, president of DC-based film production for Warner Bros, tells the court that Amber Heard was never released from her Aquaman contract or rehired.

She did not receive a pay increase for Aquaman 2 after appearing in the first film, Mr Hamada says, answering questions from Johnny Depp's lawyer. He says producers were trying to stop renegotiations on every deal.

Heard plays Mera in the films, which star Jason Momoa and Patrick Wilson.

Her role in the film was determined in the early development of the script, which would have happened in 2018, he says, saying that her role was never reduced.

The movie was built around the characters played by Momoa and Wilson, who were the "co-leads", Mr Hamada says, and tells the court that Heard's role was never affected by anything to do with Depp.

He says there was a delay of "probably weeks" in casting Heard in the sequel, saying there were conversations about potentially recasting.

There were concerns brought up following the "wrap" of the first film, over Heard's "chemistry" with Momoa. However, Warner Bros did not audition other actresses for the role, he tells the court, and eventually went with Heard.

Asked if Warner Bros was ever considering paying Heard more for the sequel than the original film, Mr Hamada says no.

I always thought that was a pretty weak argument on the part of Heard. The above makes complete sense and, more specifically, in a Hollywood bottom-line sense.

Thanks, BTW, for your 'bulletins', they're really helpful in providing a concise, objective gist of what's what on a daily basis.

A dream today versus yesterday. He’s got to be the best or one of the best so far.

I think if talent and natural chemistry was the deciding factor for success in Hollywood many many highly successful actors would be out of work. To me Jason Momoa or The Rock are not talented actors. They just market themselves well and are liked by being in certain successful franchises. There are so many movies that get miscast or where Hollywood forces the general public to like a certain actor that is just not good/talented. An example, Hollywood is selling (hard!) Adam Driver as a sex symbol and just STOP, please! Lol.

So in that vein, Amber Heard is not delusional to expect an upward trajectory after the success of Aquaman. I think a lot of that also happens through marketing, which in this case she was thwarted from successfully marketing herself after Aquaman 1 due to all the negative press.

I think this is all reasonable. The issue for her is she can’t connect that directly to Waldman statements. I think the audios and other stuff that came out of the UK trial didn’t help. Although I think certainly Waldman instigated a lot of it!
Agree re Waldman.

Agree also re Momoa. He's problematic imo. For anyone interested, scroll down to the second heading to see what might have generated the chemistry fail between him and AH on Aquaman:

During this lunch break, Law & Crime legal analysts just said AH's team were indeed planning to call JD to stand, but had to scrap that plan due to limited remaining court time they have left for themselves .

AH, IMO, has falsely accused someone of SA. Ripping out the pages of her book was an annoying, juvenile prank at worst. I can't get het up about it, considering. I can't see how it would be the cause of a lack of chemistry.

Also, AH doesn't believe they have bad chemistry. She thinks it's an excuse to cut her role. So from her POV there is no chemistry issue.

Whew! I finally caught up on every post after I left the discussion at 5:00 yesterday. I couldn't listen to the "Hollywood expert" drone on any longer. I had an appointment this morning after which DH and I went out for a nice breakfast. I will be following along with the trial following the lunch break and have no daytime plans for the remainder of the week.
