I am looking forward to reading how the jury is responding this morning. There are a few members of the "law tube" community who are present in the courtroom today.

They have beat this crap to death. Do jurors really like to hear these expert witnesses over and over? Most talk over a lay persons head anyway.

I think Dr. Hughes comes across well. Confident and unflappable. She did really well on cross last time IMO. I think both women are highly credentialed.

The issue is Amber is not credible so Hughes is not credible.

I found her rude and confrontational on cross last time. JMO

Speaking as someone who has been empaneled on a jury four times, I have to say that Dr. Hughes' manner of expression comes across as someone who is "selling" a testimony. That is, she is in the salesman mode, as opposed to the soft spoken, measured Dr. Curry. In the cases I was a sitting juror, no other juror (in any of the cases) responded positively to the "salesman" types. Just my observation.

Why do all of AH’s witnesses make everything sound so complicated ……. and defensive IMO

And she is behaving the same right now. She also called Dr. Curry by her first name? Rude.

I think it’s understandable that Dr. Hughes is feeling defensive about Dr. Curry’s criticism. She’s here to rebut that testimony so I think her demeanor is appropriate. IMO

I also agree with her that having PTSD doesn’t always mean you’re just disabled and unfunctioning in life. I was side eyeing Curry on that yesterday.

You explained that perfectly …. I have felt this way about most, if not all, of AH’s witnesses

Remember the ' beating a dead horse' emoji we had here once upon a time? LOL

I agree with you. She is selling. She comes off fake and untrustworthy - which is a shame. MOO

I suspect part of this defensiveness may be coming from a lingering doubt that AH may have in fact, effectively pulled the wool right over her eyes.

Not a good look, given her profession.

IMO, no. Disclaimer: My opinion was formed by watching a zillion episodes of Law & Order. They always called it "the battle of the experts" and said the jury tended to tune them out after a while.

Next witness...

Clinical and forensic psychologist Dawn Hughes, who is returning to the stand for the second time, is offering a rebuttal testimony to that given by Dr Shannon Curry yesterday.

Dr Hughes says she does not agree with Dr Curry's theory that she used "improper methods" when assessing Amber Heard.

'People struggling with trauma and PTSD are very strong, courageous, resilient people'

Psychologist and expert witness Dr Dawn Hughes is disputing testimony given by Dr Shannon Curry yesterday.

Both women assessed Amber Heard ahead of this trial.

Dr Hughes determined the actress suffers from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), while Dr Curry says she has exaggerated symptoms of this and actually suffers from personality disorders.

Dr Hughes tells the court that Heard did not exaggerate on one test that she used to assess her for PTSD, as Dr Curry suggested.

Dr Curry also said that Dr Hughes misinterpreted her test results. Dr Hughes disputes this and says it was actually Dr Curry who misinterpreted them.

Dr Hughes also dismisses Dr Curry's testimony that victims of PTSD are "effectively unable to function", as Heard's lawyer Elaine Bredehoft describes it.

Dr Hughes says this is a common "myth and misconception" and adds: "People who are struggling with trauma and PTSD are very strong, courageous, resilient people, even though they are struggling," she says.

I am so confused. JD rested but I never saw the flight attendant testify for him. Did they decide not to call her or did I miss it because it was so brief??
