VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Beach Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit along with the James City County Police Department are searching for a missing woman.

The National Center for Missing and Endangered, Inc. says Juliann Crystal Hobbs, 38, has not been heard from since March 11 when she had a friend carry her to Norge, Virginia, in James City County. They say this is when her cell phone and all communications stopped.

It is believed that Juliann is suffering from a diagnosed Cognitive Impairment in which causes her to become very confused and often times this condition gets her in trouble. She refuses to take medications for this condition.

I don’t quite understand why she had to be “carried”. Is she disabled? TIA.

I think that means she was taken there in a vehicle. Virginia Beach to Norge is about 70 miles: Google Maps

"Carry" is an unusual wording.

A new tip late last month has prompted James City County Police to make a public request for assistance in finding a woman missing since at least April.

...SBM

James City County Police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams said Hobbs suffers from a cognitive condition that poses a credible threat to her health and safety.

Williams said Hobbs was not dropped off at a residence on Sycamore Landing Road, just at the end of the street.

The road runs along the York River above York River State Park and is surrounded by woods, creeks and marsh, according to a satellite view on Google Maps.

The “acquaintance” that dropped Hobbs off called her family in late July to tell them he dropped her off. The family then sent the tip to county police, who worked to confirm various details of the case with Virginia Beach Police.

On Tuesday, James City County Police confirmed Hobbs was dropped off in the county.

“It’s been challenging to — with multiple acquaintances and the family being far away — to put all the pieces together,” Williams said.

The red marker in the map is at the dead-end of Sycamore Landing Road. The body of water in the upper right is the York River. The route is from Norge, VA (where LE previous thought Juliann was) to the end of Sycamore Landing Road:

I wonder if the person told LE why they dropped Juliann off at the dead-end, and not at a residence. This doesn't sound hopeful for Juliann, but I'm glad LE got the more accurate information.

Her mother said 38-year-old Juliann, also known as "Booger," left the family home near Melbourne, Florida, on February 5. She flew into Richmond, then set out to Virginia Beach to stay with friends for several weeks.

Her mother says while Juliann was in Virginia Beach, she called home every day. The last time she called was on March 11 around 10 p.m., and on March 12 all cell phone communication stopped.

Around that same date, James City County Police got a tip that someone took Juliann to the Williamsburg area.

Investigators received information that an acquaintance dropped Juliann off at the end of Sycamore Landing Road in James City County at approximately 1:30 p.m. on March 11.

That's the last time she was seen.

Julie supposedly wanted to get out and refused to get back in the car. Maybe she was mad. I know her personally. Anyhow, she should never have been left there. Under no circumstances should she have been left. It doesn’t add up. I hope her cell phone records can show who she called after being dropped off. She was supposedly dropped off at 1:30pm March 11th, but her mom says she last heard from Julie 10:30pm March 11th.

Juliann's mother got a call from Juliann 8.5 hours after she was dropped off at the end of Sycamore Landing Road?

(All bolding in the qoute and in my post was done by me for clarity)

According to the WTKR article, yes. That is assuming that it is true that she was dropped off at 1:30pm. But Julie’s mom talked to her at 10pm, I guess. The “acquaintance” was just giving her a ride from Virginia Beach to Richmond.

Yes, I saw that in the article. Just wondering how her death happened--exposure, drowning, purposeful suicide or ???

That info has not been released as far as I can tell. They may not know yet. Toxicology tests can take a long time to come back. Or they may be choosing not to release the cause of death. If it's suicide or an accident (medical event), then LE may withhold COD out of respect for her family's wishes about what is released. If foul play is suspected, then they may not want to tip off a suspect while they investigate.
