I wonder about her dog being recovered... nothing said about circumstances surrounding that..

We had a flurry of activity here a couple of days ago, giving some hope there'd be a break in the case, but now all is quiet :bump:

Thanks for the thread :bump: OldSteve!

Who is the man in the sketch???

What will it take to solve this mystery??

Where is Kathleen Hailey?

Why would anyone hurt her?

How did her dog get to TN?

All I know for certain is SOMEONE has all the answers.

I'm Kathy's brother in law.

Thank you for joining us. My heart goes out to you, your wife, and your family.

I have followed Kathleen's case since the beginning because of the picture of her with Molly. At the time when Kathleen first went missing & I read about it on WS, I had no children and my dogs were my "children" (they are still my babies but now I have a two-legged baby as well). I could relate to being a private person & having a fur baby.

I'm sending you & your family positive thoughts. I am glad you all were able to find Molly- I'm sure Kathleen would be so happy that Molly is with her "aunt" & "uncle." I hope that Kathleen can return to you all as well.

I have been away for a while and am happy to see the posts. I am also thrilled to learn that Kathleen's dog was found.

I hope you post again, ms roman. I would like to know if you are the brother-in-law who went to Kathleen's apartment when she had not been heard from? The only reason I am asking is that if you are, perhaps you could factually answer questions about the condition of her apartment when you entered. Maybe a mod could weigh in on this? In any case, we would need permission from an administrator, I would imagine.

Sorry for the long post, it's just that I have been following this case for a long time.

Regarding what was mentioned ^^ about her dog being found out of state - do we have a link to MSM?

I have kept a close eye on this case and never saw any report about Molly the dog being found. If she was found in Tennessee, that might indicate that Kathleen might be found there too. I did a NAMUS search for unidentified remains recovered in Tennessee but found nothing to match Kathleen so far.

I have a lot of questions.

Just another bump for Kathleen.

What a sad, horrific case. Bumping for you, Kathleen.

The sketch could be a military man. Any Navy personnel in Newport News might be assigned to a ship in the Huntington shipyard and would probably be there less than 18 months. But any military person would likely have moved on in 3 years, regardless of where he was stationed. That's why this article might need more widespread distribution.

I check back in on Kathleen periodically. At one point, somewhere back on the threads here, there was posting about a person on her facebook....specifically a photo that bore a great resemblance to the sketch. Does anyone know where that went?

Also, about the dog being found. Umm, not so sure...I just read this story (see link) from Feb of this year, and they don't mention the dog being found. Anyone have different info?

Bumping for Haley anyhow!

Some posts were deleted, likely because of the mentioning and/or linking to names and pages of people that have not been identified as POI or suspects by LE. I have not looked back over the thread recently, but I do recall the FB friend whom you may be referring.

FWIW, I took a cursory glimpse into that person's social pages a while back and did notice a few things that sent up red flags.

---IIRC, that particular friend of Kathleen's had been in the VA area up until the timeframe of her disappearance. However, on the day of her disappearance, a peculiar post by that friend suggested they were in a whole different city. It really felt (to me) like someone setting up an alibi. . . something to the effect of 'hanging at (some named place) today with "so and so" - got here at (some given time) AM and still here'. I think the "so and so" friend he was with may have possibly been a relative, providing the "so and so" person and their FB page is actually a person and not just a fake acct.

---I also found it odd that when that particular friend of Kathleen's provided pics of their dog on SM, it was strikingly similar in markings and was of the same breed as Kathleen's. That said, though they looked alike, the markings were not exactly alike, yet something . . maybe the comments on FB . . led me to believe the two dogs may have been of the same litter.

---Finally, I personally found it strange this particular friend of Kathleen's deleted a lot of the communication he and Kathleen had on social media at some point. I know people delete things on SM all the time and it means little to nothing, but I do remember something about it standing out.

BTW - I'm not sure if I come across this friend of Kathleen's via her FB or via a relative of hers. I'm thinking he first came to my attention through her sister or BILs page. (I often check close relative's pages since perps are known to sometimes befriend family on SM in order to stay in the loop of an investigation)

There's not much more info I recall about that particular friend of Kathleen's other than what was/is socially available. Since he's never been publically named, I didn't cross from curiosity into investigative sleuthing. (I do hope NNPD has looked into him. . but I doubt it)

If Molly was found (and I have no reason to doubt what her BIL said) in Tennessee then that might once again point to someone in the military. Maybe they are from TN and their next visit home brought Molly with them. I hope Molly was found and that she's ok. I want Kathleen to be found and ok too.

Bumping for Kathleen.

This another case I keep coming back to. No updates since February of this year by WVEC and even that is a rehash of what has already been published.

Kathleen is one of the missing women that touched something within me. Perhaps it was her age being close to mine and having her dog go missing.

I hope that she is found soon. I am nationally certified SAR Tech and state certified in wilderness first-aid and EMR. That's all in addition to the state and regional trainings to just keep savvy. Maybe in the spring I'll go up with part of my team and have a mini-vaca-search if I can get info and the OK from LE. I have time on my hands and love VA. Probably pipe dreams and I'll do something local but I can at least read back through to get an idea of feasibility.
