Larry Dalton Hinchee was last seen leaving his job at Eastman Chemical after his shift, between 1:10 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. on Saturday. After leaving work, the 54-year-old returned to his home on Wren Court in the city. Hinchee’s wife noticed him missing about 4 a.m. Saturday when she woke up, even though his car was parked in the driveway.

He may be wearing camouflage pants, steel-toed work boots, a short-sleeved Eastman or Suntek shirt, a long-sleeved shirt, and a green khaki camouflage field jacket with Hinchee over the pocket and U.S. Navy.said she noticed him missing about 4 a.m. Saturday when she woke up, even though his car was parked in the driveway.

Larry Hinchee, age 53, was last seen leaving work at Eastman Chemical Company located in the Patriot Centre in Martinsville, VA around 1:10 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018. It is believed he arrived to his home in the 300 block of Wren Ct. in Martinsville around 1:25 a.m. When his wife woke up in the morning, she found his car in the driveway, but Larry was nowhere to be found. His phone, wallet, keys and personal belongings were left in their usual spot inside the house. Larry was trying to quit smoking, but it’s possible he went outside to smoke a cigarette and then disappeared. Larry is described as 5'7", 175 lbs., with close-cropped graying brown hair, a mustache, brown eyes and wears glasses. He is a member of the US Navy Reserve and his disappearance is described as very out of character.

Hope he is ok. Wondering if self harm or if he was taking a walk to maybe smoke and he had a medical issue (heart attack etc)

It always concerns me when the wallet, phone and keys are left behind. :(

So, he made it into the house, then disappeared into thin air? May have gone out for a smoke, but is trying to quit smoking so may not have gone out to smoke. I don't know about this. Will have to take it under advisement until we know more. Sit on hands in meantime.

The neighborhood looks very nice and safe. Peaceful and quiet. He disappears in the wee, wee hours of the morning on Saturday, March 24, 2018, if I am not mistaken. His wife awakens at approximately 4:30 a.m. and finds that he is not home, but his vehicle and belongings (including phone) are at home. She notifies PD later that day. At what time, precisely, did she notify PD? As I asked before, who else lives in the home? How long has he been married? How long has he resided at this particular address? Does he have friends in the neighborhood?

Yes. That scenario, to me, speaks of LE needing to get a search warrant for the home ASAP. These factors (i.e., all of his personal belongings being at the home, without him) constitute "Probable Cause" for a search warrant. Don't stand on ceremony, LE, get to it! With all due respect.

This case really bothers me. I made the mistake of going to his FB page the other day and watching his videos and now his face/voice have been in my mind. He seems like such a nice guy, I really hope nothing violent/tragic has happened to him. It’s cases like this that almost make me hope he ran off to Hawaii or something crazy like that.

I hear you. But he's not the type (in my opinion). I fear that he is a victim.

This past weekend that area was bombarded with snow. The race in Martinsville was cancelled. At 4 am, I don't know if the snow had started yet.

I know Martinsville is a bit better crime wise than it was when I was in school in the late ‘90s, but I had several friends from the area who said drugs and theft were awful. The region is fairly depressed economy and I try to avoid stopping there at night if I’m driving through with my kids. I’m worried he stepped out for a smoke, someone tried to rob him or he caught someone doing something nefarious and tried to stop it.

I wonder if he was taking something to quit smoking. Sometimes those drugs can make people act in ways not normal to them. I hope they check hospitals.

Yes. I know that the prescription medication can oftentimes make a person manic. But I doubt that he was taking a Rx medication. (MOO)

Hubby did pass out on the quit smoking patch many years ago.
