I have written a partial case write-up with the current public information released. Here it is:
We are reaching out to the community for help identifying a young boy who was found in Massey Creek, below the Old Colchester Road bridge in Lorton, Fairfax County. The boy is described as approximately 3 to 6 years old, African American/Black, with black hair and brown eyes. He was about 4 feet tall, weighed around 50 pounds, and was likely born between 1966 and 1969. He was circumcised, a procedure typically performed at birth.
He was discovered on June 13, 1972, in an area that suggests someone may have attempted to keep him hidden. Investigators believe he had been deceased for 1-2 days before his recovery, placing his death between June 11 and June 12, 1972. He had sustained severe head injuries caused by a blunt object, and his death has been ruled a homicide. His body was also unclothed.
This child may have attended a local school or early childhood center, played in neighborhood parks, or been involved in community activities. It’s likely he had a typical daily routine, interacting with other children and adults in the community. If any of these details seem familiar, think back to any young boy who may have suddenly stopped appearing at school, in the neighborhood, or at community events before June 13, 1972.
Take a Moment to Reflect:
- Do you remember seeing a boy who looked like this at a school event, playground, or family gathering?
- Is there a family you know who recently moved or a child who has been absent without explanation?
- Does this description remind you of anyone in your extended social circles, even if the memory is faint?
Consider looking through photo albums and family memories—are there any young boys you haven’t seen in a long time, without explanation?
If you think you might know who this boy is, even if only vaguely, please reach out to the Fairfax County Police Department at (703) 691-2131. Even the smallest detail could help bring closure to this case and reconnect him with loved ones who may not yet know what happened.

Also, I have not mentioned that his body showed chronic signs of abuse or that he had a full stomach on the day of his murder, as the article detailing this has been taken down. Although, I do not doubt the accuracy of the chronic abuse as beating someone to death is extremely personal.
That being said, 2025 should be the year that this young boy gets his name back, and those responsible for his death face justice.
