The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is currently searching the Hamilton area for a missing man from Fairfax County.

Loudoun Deputies responded to the area of Piggott Bottom Road and Swanbourne Drive shortly before 10:46 p.m. on August 29 for a suspicious vehicle determined to belong to the missing man. He is believed to have left on foot.

The subject was last seen in the area of Fairfax by his family members.

A search of the area was conducted with the Fairfax County Police Department helicopter and K9 Unit but the man was not located.

Members of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team are currently searching the area on foot and also utilizing the agency's small Unmanned Aircraft System, commonly referred to as a drone.

Sheriff's Office Using Drone to Search for Missing Man

Authorities have not released the man's name, but they believe he was on foot when he left his vehicle.

No further information has been released.

Last year, the sheriff's office used their police droneto find a 92-year-old hunter who had gone missing in a heavily wooded area in Virginia. The sheriff's office said it was the first successful use of the new drone, which is equipped with infrared and high resolution cameras.

I also find it strange they did not release his name. Your first link (Loudoun County Sheriff's Office) shows an update that he has been found and is safe.

"UPDATE: The missing Fairfax County man has been located safe in Frederick County (VA)."

DOJ drone helps locate missing Osseo man

A special agent used the drone to search the fields near the missing person's home Tuesday night. The agent was able to see the man walking in the field and directed law enforcement to the location.

Deputies searched the field but because it was dark and there was fog, the man was not initially found. The search resumed in the morning and the man was located.
