Before I begin this, I hope I dont rip this marine up by saying these things. If he is not guilty (which I doubt), then he will live with this stigma for the rest of his life.
On the other hand, if he IS guilty, may he rot in hell for not only molesting that sweet baby, but killing her also.UGHH :behindbar

I even wish we had a name for him instead of 🤬🤬🤬.

Is it possible that Meghan maybe babysat for the woman next door and didn't want to seem "crazy" or show she was frightened? In this day and age, there aren't that many women who don't work outside the home and one of the biggest reasons to be there during the day is they have small children.

I wouldn't even consider he was in the home and she knew it when she went to ask for Mac and cheese next door. He was there to kill her and there was no way he would have allowed her to draw attention to him.

DeltaDawn, good posts with thoughts!

I keep going back with Meghans behavior with school friends and then her behavior with her neighbor.

I feel very uncomfortable about this. Could it be possible, that when Meghan got home the perp was in the house? If so, maybe she had prepared herself for this day in case it happened, and somehow was able to get out of the house and get to the neighbors asking for macaroni and cheese (OF COURSE, hoping the neighbor gets the picture that SOMETHING is not right).

I know this sounds far fetched................but I'm trying to reconcile the two different extreme emotions that Meghan had given that day. (i.e. nervous, etc. to school friends before getting home, vs. everything is great when she gets to the neighbors house).

SS: I'm sure you can help me out!

Hi Littledear, Im not SS, but I cab help her answer this (not as well as her, but I will try..hehe)

Lets start out that I have 1 13 yr old, a 10 yr old and a 16 yr old step. At this age, they seem to overdramatize things (not to say she wasnt ligit scared from something else).
When she got to the neighbors, maybe she didnt want to frighten her and let beleive she was scared. Kinda like she was a big girl and could handle it. If she told the neighbor, then she would tell mom and then all heck would break loose.

Im sure that her mom and step knew she had a trial the following am. I cant see my daughter calling me from school or home, and me not rushing out of the office to help/comfort her.

LD- I have often wondered this same ?, and this is the only logical explanation to this- Maybe Im way off base-

Also, LE and NCIS BOTH had to do know that there was an obvious POI. They just dont waste that $ and manpower in case its the wrong perp.

HELP SS- Im stuck!!!

Thanks for the welcome, hope my name doesn't give anyone the munchies too bad, it's just what I was eating/thinking when I registered :)

Could they have tossed it out of a car window perhaps or was it in a place where the car could have been at a stop light or stop sign so not to have been as noticable?

It is frightening to think it could be a teen, isn't it? However, we just saw the situation where 6 girls beat up the one girl for something said on myspace. You never know anymore. :(

To throw something out of a car window moving - into a storm drain would take a lot of luck, stopping to drop it they might have been noticed. I don't want to say people in this area are nosey, because that's not the case, they're more alert though to people that aren't normally there. We all kinda watch each others homes and property. I guess one of the reasons that I wouldn't discount a teen at all is that they're there, and we kinda ignore/dismiss them walking through a neighborhood since everyone kind of expects to see them out and wandering around in nicer weather.

One thing no one mentioned about the way she was acting is she might have been just relieved to talk to the neighbor. I know I've been in situations before (job interviews, traffic courts and things like that) where I've been nervous as can be, then someone will talk to me just about nothing and it changes everything.

I didnt read the link, I know- bad girl, but did someone see anyone drop it down the drain, or did they just 'discover' it. The reason I am asking, I live in a moderately sized city and I have yet once to see any men opening up manholes.

I understand they were doing a sweep of the area, but what made them point to one down the street??

MmmmBrownies~ You blew my diet, Buddy! LOL

Interesting take on things, Brownies. It makes sense that people would be more dismissive of teens running around especially since we know that school was out early! You could be onto something there.

Thanks, Chico...but I don't know I am that much help to anyone. LOL I seem to come up with some pretty farout theories and ideas which sometimes I even think are absurd. :) Hahahahaha~

I could be mistaken, but I think the type of storm drain we are talking about are the open ones on the sides of curbs which usually have a grate with an open area above not the manholes you find in the center of the streets. :)

Chico:

I have 5 children who range from 23 to 36, so it's not like I've seen the "teenage" years recently.

Maybe I need to spend some more time on the "timeline". School was dismissed early at 10:55 a.m. that day (iirc) and Meghan was at her neighbors asking for Mac and Cheese at 4:00 p.m.

So that's a 5 hour span.......... If I have missed something......please let me know before I say anything more. :blowkiss:

Woah! She was at her neighbor's house at noon. Her stepfather found her body at 4:00pm. That would make the timeline a bit tighter. (We don't know about the mac and cheese...if she fixed it, ate it, etc. which would tell us how much time passed after noon.)

I vaguely remember reading something about a phonecall she made after noon as well. I think it 1:30 - 2pm as it was written, so it seems to be about a 1-2 hour span. It's after she talked to her neighbor about mac and cheese that things get sketchy.

The storm drains are like SS is describing. Incidentally in that clip there's a detective that lifted that grate and dropped it back in place which is quite a feat in of itself, those things are heavy!

You are more help than you think my dear friend. We would sorely miss your outside of the box thinking and free spirited posting!

I fear I may be responsible for "hogging" her, but if there's any consolation I believe I requested her to this blog- has her name on it :blowkiss:

One of the earlier post with the link of the neighbor being interviewed also show a man commenting to. Don't know if it was neighbor's hubby/bf or want. The neighbor said she didn't think much about it when she didn't return.

I have been thinking of the contradiction of her friends saying she was scared/nervous that day and how the neighbor and the phone call to her mom she seemed and sounded fine.

Maybe once she got home and saw that no one was there, the just being home,a place where you usually feel safe, she calmed down. What happened to her happened after she got back from the neighbors.Maybe she was being watched and when she went to get the mac and cheese she left the door unlocked because she was only going next door and would not be gone long and thats when the 🤬🤬🤬 got in.Or once she got back she was more focused on fixing her something to eat that she didn't lock the door behind her.

Dunno.I just hope they get this 🤬🤬🤬 soon!

SS, I remember on the news that was a police officer squating in a yard, opening a round metal lid. That's where the city water connection is. I wonder if that's where they found the evidence or if like you said it was the type of storm drain by the curb. Maybe that officer was just looking for something and that's not where they actually found it.

If that is where they found it then someone had to take the time to lift that cover, drop whatever, and then put the cover back. It's sounds silly but I wonder if the person was dressed as a city worker and therefore no one noticed him.

Oh yeah. Portsmouth is pretty small really. I guess you can divide it into Portsmouth Proper and Churchland, since Portsmouth absorbed Churchland a number of years ago. Not to mention the geographical size, itsself it's a pretty small community, I can't go anywhere without running into someone I know or have met.

There was something found yesterday in a stormdrain. It was to the interior of the neighborhood rather than toward the main road. So, hard to say what it was or what it actually means, but hopefully it'll be soon that they find whomever is responsible.

I'll also add that being a parent myself, when they find whomever it was, he pays and pays dearly.

Mmmbrownies, I live in P-town too. Not too far from where Meghan lived.

I get the impression that she was trying to hide her fear/anxiety from her parents. I would not be surprised to hear that she may have been threatened or warned by some form and did not share that with them. Maybe that was part of the threat- that he would harm her family?

she was at the neighbors house by the news around11am and talked for 20 min. said she might come back and the neighbor never saw her again after that. That was on the report from new 13.
