I did read that when the offense took place, he lived on base. I have also read that with all of the publicity, he moved off base, therefore the joint task force with NCIS and SWAT. I will try and find the links.

Good luck, I think they will help us- I would be surprised if there were any publicity on his case though, Meghan was an alleged molestation victim and a minor- they would never print her identity (oops, did I say never about the press..my bad.) As far as I know, I dont think the military comments to press about an open case?

How about that- if what your saying is true, we got an alleged SO kicked off base and into our neighborhood without warning anyone- anybody else calling ADT??

Im guessing that they perhpap hit on an area of a sink or toilet with a positive read for blood on a swab, or found aomething in the draincatch in the house. If I am not mistaken, the "frenzy" of the CSI started in the house and migrated to the storm drain- is that correct?

I said it the other day- if this molestation case was truly a factor, it very well may fall under the crawford ruling allowing the perp the right to cross exam, without a witness , that can't happen and the case could be dismissed. However, I am not a JAG or do I know the boundaries of military law. I would think the only way this stayed in tribunal is if the offense occurred on base-does anyone know if when they picked up the unsub if he lived on base or his address? We can look it up through property records

Mary Kay Mallone reported it as they were at the house, and there were still more checking the storm drains and whatnot in the neighborhood, they found something and ran back to the house to get a forensics technician and another detective. They then popped the storm drain's grate and pulled whatever out of it. The envelop also didn't bend and it's been pretty windy here, so possibility of it being the weapon strongly exists.

The person that they questioned was not living on a Naval Base, I didn't recognize the neighborhood where it was but they said it was in Norfolk. If he was accused of a crime on base in a military court I'm pretty sure that they would have held him at least restricted to the base, though if you don't live on base, you still fall under the UCMJ, but civilian authorities have first shot at you. It depends on the Commanding Officer of the base but normally they charge you additionally with an Unauthorized Absence, that time is added to your enlistment as well as any time that you serve in military custody. Typically what we were seeing when I was in the military is someone would do something, serve time, be tried in a military court serve time there and then be discharged with an "Other Than Honorable" or "Dishonorable Discharge" depending on what it was that the convening military court decided.

Officer Chris Amos, a Norfolk police spokesman, said officers assisted the Naval Criminal Investigative Service in staking out the address on Kirby Crescent off Thole Street, just off Tidewater Drive.

Latest news. You'll have to click on the picture of Meghan on the video player on the right hand side of the screen.

They say they have no suspects. They also mention about her friends blogging and what they are saying happened to Meghan. The police said they never release information on sexual assaults (so are they saying she was this time or is it because of the first time she was assaulted?), and that if they told the circumstances of her death it would jeopardize the investigation.

I think they are waiting for results from whatever was found in the storm drain. I think they found it on a normal sweep, too. It would make sense for them to start in the home and work out from there to find evidence. While it may not even be related to this case, it does take time to get it processed to determine if there is a connection.

LE is doing what they always do. They won't comment. However, I think her friends might very well know what happened in the past to Meghan and are speaking out on it. Good for them, if it is true! However, if it is proven later on not to be the case...then we will all have to take our lumps over the assumption a molestation occurred. No Suspects. No names. Only a person that NCIS and LE staked out his house, took into custody for questioning, and then released. It was confirmed this person is active military.

This is what Steve had in his blog. It is interesting to me that she could have been bound. Another huge thing we have obviously overlooked is her myspace saying she was "in a relationship". For her age group...while they may spoof their age...this answer usually means something to them and she wouldn't randomly put it there if she did not feel it was true.

Was she dating? Who was she dating? Why haven't we heard of this guy through her friends and blogs? Was he older? Was he in her school peer group? People should know if she was "in a relationship". Maybe the locals can help us out on this.

Yeah. I just thought since someone posted that they weren't familiar with that neighborhood (I think mmmbrownies) I would post a picture of the type of house there (sometimes that helps in giving an idea of what type of neighborhood it is).

The last comment on Steve's blog you linked to suggests the boyfriend (real or perceived) is in HS. I think that would still qualify him in her peer group, but I dont really see anywhere that she went on dates, etc, so it may be more of a crush. My parents were the parental mafia- I didnt go on "car dates" until I actually had my own license at 17.5. (side note think it only fair to say I intend to employ the same tactic with my own d)

I do not believe there is anything random about this crime and I think it is horrific. I agree SS, the bound scenario, if it's true, screams more than I wish to write here. What is the military base tied with the Naval Military Sealift Support Command? Can anyone either PM or state the name of the bio dad and his general residence area? If your a local and lurking, it would be great if you register and share your thoughts, this blog is about as anonymous as you can get.

Lastly- this scenario wreaks of 5 day old military cover up, or at least a hush hush- if that is the case and this little girl paid for it WS'ers are going to find it; I guarantee the original POI has an iron clad alibi, and I suspect the real perp is military as well.

ETA: If he was moved from the base as someone earlier stated, he has a great deal of public access such as web, wifi, etc- That would make his activity alot harder to trace as opposed to him being on base.

ETA2: I can confirm her boyfriend is near her age, and there is no evidence to suggest that he was anything but a sweet young man and they had a "regular" teenage relationship, I hesitate to post his name out of respect for his privacy.

From what I can tell the only other mention of a Landowski is her brother.
Looks like they kept the entire bio dad's info out.

I hope that's an indication of the type of home life that Meghan had. In a few posts I've seen it seems as though they did have a loving home.

Maybe they hold her biological father responsible for what happened to her since the rumor is that the one that hurt her before was one of his friends.
