The person they questioned was in the Marine Corps, which is run by the Department of the Navy. So anytime you see a Marine in any trouble, you'll see a bunch of marines and alot of high ranking Naval Officers.

Could this have been a robbery gone wrong? I know LE seems to think it wasn't random, but I keep thinking about her being "bound". I could be off track, but would a perp set on killing her due to preventing her testimony take the time to do this? Her being bound before she was murdered means he needed to subue her for a time. Why?

Do we know if she was sexually assaulted before murdered? If the killer was an sex offender, then that may have been why she was bound. Either that or the killer was trying to scare her and get information out of her about who knows what and then killed her. Those are the 2 scenarios i can come up with for binding her (and later killing her anyway).

assume she was sexually assaulted, and bound, with respect to anyone that is reading this- indicating absolutely a non-random act. This was personal, imo, but I feel it strongly- I am not familiar with any random act where the victim had advanced knowledge or conern.. I seriously hate this dude.

I apologize in advance for making anyone look this up, but I cant find any links that say she was bound and sexually assaulted. I have only heard about the molestation last year?

No one has confirmed she was bound, sexually assaulted, or even molested last year. Being possibly bound was a tip sent to Steve Huff:

Tips sent to The True Crime Weblog indicate that there is local talk about how Meghan died, and the possible killer. She may have been bound and cut with a sharp instrument. It has also been suggested that Meghan was assaulted in the past, but no further details are available at this time.

I still haven't heard anything about her brother or sister (I wonder if that was her sister standing looking at her photo at the memorial?). I am very curious as to where her siblings were after school. School let out early for Meghan, but not her sister...there was no mention of her brother which I find odd.

I don't think it would be out of the realm of possibilities that someone came into the house in order to rob it and maybe when she returned so quickly from the neighbor's it was unexpected. She surprised him and he bound her before deciding to kill her to keep her from IDing him.

It also could be for a sexual assault. Since LE is not releasing that information, we can only speculate...but it could be another reason to have her bound and under his control.

Time is usually a reason for a person to be bound first. He wasn't finished with what he was doing, imo. If he came there specifically to kill her...he could have easily overpowered her for that without it.

Meghan's brother is younger than she is. I don't know for sure but I think he might not be in high school yet. I think that only the high schools were getting out early that day because of exams. Most kids in this area go to W. E. Waters Jr. High. If he did he would have to ride the bus home. Jr. High Schools get out at 2:40. The bus ride home depends on how many stops it has to make. I would think he would be home by 4:00 though unless he stayed after school for some reason.

Someone asked if the man mentioned in the obituary was her step-dad or bio-dad. It's her step-dad.

SS- I almost always agree- but in this case, I don't agree that the "bounding has anything to do with time, given the evidence and crime scene, real and "speculated", I believe it has solely to do with control, oronstraining a vic. This was a mission to this perp.

Given the rumored stabbing and binding, it was also very personal. It takes a great deal of rage and force to plan, bind and stab someone.

Binding someone, who you intend to stab to death anyway, is intensely personal, it suggests an element of torture- or trying to secure otherswise un- aquired info.. The timing, the pending case, the initial with an iron clad alibi- they are waiting for those of us to give up and take an explanation

SS I think they know exactly who is involved: two things:
the perp is familiar and is smart about evidence.
the perp is protected by rules against outside info by active military.

Torture - true.

It also prevents them from fighting back. Initial intent may not have been torture, it does say that it was either planned, and whomever completely controlled the entire event or that whomever got into a fight with her, gained the upper hand and prevented any further retalliation (which would have also escalated the violence after that point because of the anger involved). There's seemingly an element of premeditation, but there's also the what if to it as well. Whatever happened it was someone that knew her, and was incredibly angry. It could have been the alleged molestor, in which case I'm sure it was planned. It could also have been something closer to home (unrequited teen romantic interest ect...). It could have been that sinister "I'll shut her up" but it could also have been an arguement that escalated to this extremely fast and was completely out of control. Statistically homicides are people that are close to the victims many are relatives, close friends and jilted romantic interests that can't accept "no". Which in the latter of those instances is why I'd not rule out a younger person, since it suggests lack of maturity.

I'm questioning the alleged molestor theory more and more because NCIS has been nowhere to be seen since the first night, right after the initial suspect was questioned, which means they're either keeping a real low key, or they're satisfied that person had nothing to do with it.

The allegations of molestation and testifying at a trial are rumors. There's been no confirmation or declination of either, so logically and working only on facts, I can't count them into thinking.

Living here there was also a rumor that she was shot early on. Though to me it seemed unlikely because there were people home, and guns are just plain loud.

The problem I'm having is that none of this has been confirmed by LE. (I definitely don't trust other blogs/forums that are based on hearsay.)

There are few confirmed facts about this case.
Fact- a 16 year old was murdered at her home and was found by her stepfather.
Fact-The stepfather called 911 and the house was declared a crime scene.
That's essentially all I know that is confirmed.

Have you noticed that there is little about this case on local news stations?
I read today in one of the local papers that the cops know the COD but are not releasing it. I undersand that.
But why haven't we heard anything about the perp?
IF she was bound with duct tape, duct tape holds fingerprints...unless the perp wore gloves. Surely there was forensic evidence in the home.
What about the front porch, the steps, were there footprints on the outside of the house/ inside.

IMO the perp wasn't waiting in the house for Meghan...he came to the house after she borrowed mac and cheese from the neighor.

Wonder if anyone close by saw a strange car, or even a familiar car near her house. Did anyone see a man walking down the street or the sidewalk after the high school kids got home from school that day?

The person of interest that everyone talks about being the alleged molestor was released, that person also voluntarily went to be questioned, that was confirmed.

After that it's speculation and conjecture.
