I found this forum in searching for more answers to the case on Meghan. (Actually hoping to find out if someone was arrested for her murder.)
I live in Portsmouth (p-town) and used to live in the Simonsdale neighborhood/Maurice Ave. I did not know Meghan, but we attended the same church, Pinecrest Baptist.
*warning, slightly graphic*
I have heard lots of rumors of her death, but the main thing that remains the same is the fact that she was stabbed over 40 times, so bad that her head was almost detached due to the multiple stabbings in the neck. This young girl was not only vulnerable due to her age and height, but she also had a hormone dificiency that made her look like she was around 12 yrs old. The sad thing is that the girl attended an after school program at the local martial arts studio, but that day went home (as early release for exams) instead of going to the studio. (My guess would be she was hungry as the mac n cheese discussion on the news reflected.)
I am not one to spread gossip or rumors, especially in this case as I had a sister who was murdered at 16 yrs, so I know all to well how rumors fly around. I have friends who knew Meghan first hand and they are reliable friends. I have also heard of details, from unreliable sources, regarding some graphic details beyond the stabbings, but I do not know they are true, therefore I do not want to be part of the rumor mill. kwim?
I don't know about you locals, but after hearing about how she died, I can't stop myself from thinking what her final seconds in life was like? Imaging her step-dad being the first person to see what had become of his precious step-daughter? The mom reliving the final moments she spent with her daughter before she went to work? Or the last phone call Meghan ever made to her Mom. I am a Mom of a 2 yo girl and I keep thinking "What would I do if it were my daughter?"
I hope they find this person(s) as soon as possible, so the family can start to find some type of closure. As for my 16 yr old sister who was murdered, they did find the murderer and he served 20 years for her murder. To me, that was not enough time, because he raped my sister, who was not mentally up to par as she just came out of a coma and was going through therapy. Then he freaked out and strangled her death, and finally left her in a field in Suffolk for wild animals to clean up. Luckily, a farmer found her.
Anyway, I have written a whole book by now, but I just wanted to say, I was very saddened at the fact that our community lost a wonderful girl who had started to make a positive impact on the world.
