Well said CP, it is my experience, that when this much time passes without an update or suspect or arrest, without any comments from LE, that we are no closer than we were in the beginning, I pray that is not the case.

Not a day goes by that I don't think about Meghan and hope that I'll hear on the news the person who did this has been arrested.

While driving home last night I was wondering if maybe IF there is a person in the military who assaulted Meghan before, and she were going to testify against them, that they hired someone to do this.

I know the Navy Lt. was said not to be a suspect but that might be because he has an airtight alibi but it doesn't mean that he couldn't have paid someone else to do it. He probably would have the means, money and knowing people all over the country/world. Maybe LE hasn't been able to trace the guy for that reason and hasn't been able to link the Lt. to her murder...yet. Then there's the way that she was killed. I don't think a contract killer would have that much anger towards a little girl. I don't know.

I'm disheartened, P***ed, and angry that no one has been arrested.

I agree Lizzybeth...
Not a day goes by that I am not consumed by this. I have had to stop myself from driving by her house the last 2 days on the way home from getting my daughter. Of course, yesterday, I saw forensics at the 7 eleven on the corner of Portsmouth Blvd and City Park, getting a slurpee. Made me wonder what else they were trying to obtain that they did not get previously. I did not feel very hopeful.

I live in a nice area, but last night, my dogs wanted to go outside and I was terrified of letting them out for fear that when I opened the back door, somebody(s) would be hiding in my back yard waiting for me to open the door and bust in and do the horrible killing to my family. Needless to say, I woke my hubby up and explained why I was afraid to let the dogs out. For some reason, I seem to think there are a group of thrill killers out there who got there first crime under their belt and are looking for more. I derive this therory from something I heard again, might be roomer, but apparently the killer(s) wrote her friends names on the wall in her blood. This reminds me of the Charles Manson murders. They did not stop at one. I hate this fear. I have been praying not only for the killer to be found, the family to be able to find some type of relief was the killer is found, but I also pray that I will release my fear. I hate living in this fear of the fact that I could be next? kwim?

Gayle,
I understand what you're feeling. You want this person found so they can be punished and you want this person found because you feel like your and your families life could be in jeopardy until he's off the streets.

I hadn't hear the rumor about her friends names being on the wall. It does make it even more frightening. Maybe the person did it as a threat to the friends that if they said anything to anyone the same could happen to them.

When I let my dog out I'm nervous too. I tell myself that he would bark if anyone were around the house but I still worry.

You know there are a lot of unsavory people that hang out at the 7-Eleven if it's the one I think you're talking about (City Park Avenue?). I don't go there and I tell my kids not to either. It's been a few years but an older man was murdered there. I can't remember if he was shot or beaten to death. As far as I know they've never arrested anyone for that either.

I hate to even remotely buy into the rumors of it at all. Since all I hear is she was molested and was going to trial -

Anyone know if the person questioned was married/in a committed relationship?

Nothing else has happened to anyone in this neighborhood at all, nor to anyone connected with this girl so I'm still staying with "t'weren't random".

You're probably right mmmbrownies. I guess if there were threats or any danger for her friends we would have heard about it. I haven't heard that anyone has been afraid of going to school or anything.

Like I've said before, I hope they know who it is and are just getting more evidence before they arrest them.

I don't think there's any danger of anyone else being murdered in relation to this, unless of course someone is cornered, that could of course cause it, but more than likely not.

If the rumors are true about the molestation and the testifying in court are true, then who would stand to lose the most by that person going to jail? Of course that person, but if he's alibi'd then the next person in line would be?

His wife/girlfriend if he had one. It would account for the overkill, the rage and also the binding (seeing as how a woman would more than likely be not as physically strong as a man - not saying that there aren't some that aren't but... ). Especially since the significant others of those accused tend to defend them regardless of whatever evidence there is. "Love" is a really freaky thing, I've read some psychologists liken it to an obsessive addiction, and they have alot of empirical data to back their claims up. Hell hath no fury... any divorced man can tell you that's far from an understatement.

I would think though that if it had been an arguement gone awry then they would have worked it out by now, that and guilt of having done something would have come into play.

Of course this thinking is only "IF" the rumors are true.

If this is true, you need to contact your local paper anonomously and let them know- You may very well have a seriel killer and they wont put the pieces together until its too late like in Reno with Brianna-

Locals of Portsmouth- Dont let this die down- Contact your local LE and papers- demand they report more on this- Its a trajedy her case hasnt received more coverage, IMO.!! I havent heard one word her on my news, only here at WS and true crime sites- Very odd!:furious:

Whoa! Let's not get carried away. The notion that it's a serial has to be bolstered by many things. The single most important thing that sticks out in my mind for that is - there has to be more than one.

Let's look at it for what it is and what we know.

It is a terrible and by all accounts brutal murder of a young girl. It is an extraordinarily sad thing that happened to (by all accounts since I don't know them personally, though I have no reason to doubt they're any different than myself and my family) a good family in a nice neighborhood. She was a minor and that is undoubtedly the reason there has been no further word on anything from the police. It smacks of a rage killing moreso than anything else, and rage killings are directed at someone and there is a reason for them happening. It doesn't appear random at all, the neighborhood is relatively quiet, there's not many police running here (at least not more than you would expect when something like this occurs). There are sex offenders in the neighborhood, but I don't know of many areas that have a population over 75,000 people that don't have at least one. We have more since the jail is nearby as well. The sex offenders in this area have been convicted of non violent crimes, heinous as a sex offense is, I didn't read one that was of a violent nature (and I've read them all, I make a point to every 6 months or so because I do have a young'un).

Serial murders, while grisly, have certain elements to them. I haven't even heard in rumor anything that would suggest that to me. Going by the definition of serial murder, as Robert Ressler defined it (he's the originator of the term based on very specific criteria) the manson murders were spree murders not serial killings. Incidentally he is a terribly fascinating man, and I highly recommend all of his books.

I thought this was interesting myself. When I saw it on the news Thursday night they had not confirmed that this guy was military. Then all day yesterday I kept watching the news and reading online but they still were not confirming it.The first report I saw they were saying that someone got out of a SUV and walked up and shot this guy 5 times. Then in another report they did not say that but did say a SUV was seen driving away from the scene.Sounded like a hit to me.

I could not help but wonder if the two cases are related.

Thank you for posting the link lizzybeth.

I'm confused. Why would it be interesting about Lt. Cox's murder?

Are you suggesting that Lt. Cox knew the murderer? I highly doubt that Lt. Cox was the murderer of Meghan and someone in her family or friend decided to take the law in their own hands...........

If I didn't ask the questions right..........sorry..............in a little pain right now and just hurrying through to type.

Hm. This is pretty interesting. :waitasec:
I agree...very interesting. It isn't every day someone approaches a man in such a manner and wacks them. No robbery, no carjacking, and nothing to point to a motive for the killing at all. It does sound like a hit.

I'm honestly not suggesting anything at the moment, and there's probably a 99% chance (or more) that it has nothing to do with this at all ...

I'm calling it intriguing and letting it at that.

SS:

No theory on it?? Do you think it relates to Meghans case at all??

No doubt it was a "hit". Don't need to be a "mobster" to make a hit these days. Just someone you can pay some bucks to who could care less about the killing but needs the money to support whatever habit they have or whatever.

Aside from that, a "hit" can also be someone who is avenging something that happened to someone else.

golly there is so much violence in that area! and this heartless 🤬🤬🤬 ( i just learned what that means) didn't attempt to spare the children. so, is somebody going to make a seperate discussion about the sidewalk killing or do we just keep it to the side here?

  • #398
NoZme, if you keep reading these boards you'll realize that violence is everywhere. It's not confined to one area of the country/state/city.

There's less here in these cities than any others I've been in and I've been in many. It's not a violent area, it's not even a high crime area, I'm not even sure I'd call it a medium crime area.

mmmm: i apologize... my statement was insensitive... didn't mean to slam your town. scanning the local media for updates on meghan's murder seems i have seen at least one killing a day... elderly couple at beach, pizza driver, sidewalk shooting, etc. the truth is, i do not know the per capita crime rate in your town or my own. i live in a smallish town and population numbers make all the difference.

i enjoy reading your posts. you show feeling but try to be fair and your comments are well thought out. i believe we joined websleuths about the same time and according to the number of posts i see beside some names... we are newbies!

and about your name... couldn't you have chosen something like llll-licorice or something else that i do not like? i have to fight the urge to jump up, run to the kitchen, mix up some cocoa, sugar, flour, butter ..... mmmm warm brownies and cold milk!
