I don't now or ever will I blame people in law enforcement for what their shortcomings are unless it's appropriate (meaning the officer actually did something wrong). When I look at things, operation, time frames on investigations and things like that I tend to look past that and look to what limits people from doing what they're supposed to do. More times than not, I end ultimately placing blame on politicians rather than the people doing the job. The police are overworked, underpaid and underfunded (in all cities, not just this one) so logically you have to look to who determines pay, funding and workload or more appropriately the people that do the budgeting and approving of policies and budgets. I have nothing but respect for police officers, however, I have nothing but disdain for most politicians (not to mention alot of not really nicely worded questions).
The people that I know in this neighborhood are alot like me blue collar, middle (ish) income folks. I know that it hasn't been forgotten, I know that people are generally wondering why it's taking so long, what happened, and things of the like, but we all tend to soldier on, grumbling under our breath about what's wrong

I don't see an overall terrified outlook on things either (from me or anyone else I know here).
It does sound like they're onto something that looks to produce some sort of resolution. I hope they button it up tight enough so that
if this is the guy, then there's no way he'll walk away from it (literally, face up on a gurney is completely acceptable).
