The U.S. Coast Guard is assisting in search and rescue efforts. A 29-foot response boat from Station Cape Charles and an MH-60 helicopter from Air Station are actively involved in the search.

Deputies with the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office said a body found in the water near the South Branch Onancock Creek was identified as a missing 22-year-old from New Church, Virginia.

Deputies said Miles McIntyre, 22, was last seen at midnight on Sunday walking into the gravel transshipment point between the Onancock Wharf and King Street. Personal belongings of McIntyre were found near the area, resulting in a water search.
