The family of Morgan Harrington has announced a memorial mass will be celebrated in memory of her life on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Roanoke. A reception will follow at the Hotel Roanoke.

Tomorrow's issue of C-VILLE will feature an up-to-date account of the Harrington case so far. A call to Albemarle County Police regarding two reported assaults within miles of Anchorage Farm during weeks leading up to Harrington's discovery was not returned by the time the paper went to press; however, Lieutenant Todd Hopwood tells C-VILLE that arrests were made in both assault cases.

Geller says police have reviewed hours of surveillance footage from the Arena and from area businesses yet have found no images of Morgan. But according to the owner of the closest convenience store to John Paul Jones Arena, the 7-11 on Ivy Road, it was several days before investigators reviewed her store’s tapes.

I *thought* it was mentioned in one of these threads that there was surveillance of her entering and maybe leaving the arena? Don't quote me on that though, as I'm not sure if there was actual confirmation. I do remember it being mentioned though.

I find it impossible to believe there are no tapes of her attempting to get back in. Unable to isolate her in the crowd entering before the show? Ok, I can buy that. But not her leaving/attempting to re-enter.

I have believed it from the moment they made the release that she was hitchhiking. I think they know A LOT more than we know and I think they probably have a suspect.

In fact, I think they have always had a suspect which is why they could afford to control the release of information without worrying that the public was in danger.

I suspect this was not a random attack and there will be a dotted line that connects Morgan and the perp without a lot of convoluted routes.

An employee of nearby BB&T bank declined comment on investigators reviewing surveillance at the bank, and the manager of the Cavalier Inn Best Western on Emmet Street did not return the Hook’s call by posting time.

I think there is a lot going on behind the scenes that we aren’t privy to. That’s the way it’s supposed to be. The professionials are at work…at least lets hope so.

If you look at the map where Morgan was found using the satellite image you will see tons of trees down. The farmer would need to hire or let people come cut up the trees to remove them from the pasture land. Often times these are not landscapers like I think of landscapers but small groups or individuals that come in to cut the wood for firewood to resale it or maybe loggers. I think landscapers were referred to in one of the articles but there was also all the trees down that were mentioned at the same time.moo

I’m a Hook reporter covering this story. There’s a smoking area inside JPJ; the official story has always been that she told her friends she was going to the bathroom. And there has never been any information about Morgan being seen on surveillance at JPJ or anywhere else. In fact, that’s one of the many odd things in this case: police have been very clear– in multiple conversations I’ve had with them– that they have no video or photos of Morgan from that night.

i have to agree not random i feel was planned.i also believe arrest will be made shortly.

Are you sure it's downed trees, and not simply the shadows cast by bare trees on the ground?

These two news story, are just as confusing as the information about who rode where..
I still say, someone should have had a photo of them arriving..getting ready, taking pics of the trip...I hope the camera shows up..it could be near 15st street.
It may be worth checking, salvation army stores, or thrift shops in that area.
Salvation Army stores, because someone could have found it and if it was in good shape donated it..not having any idea who it belonged to.

I have a hard time believing Morgan was left in the field the night of the concert. In the pitch blackness of that night I imagine it would be extremely difficult to navigate your way on rough terrain in and out of the field and to a spot where discovery is unlikely. If Morgan got in a car/truck with someone she knew it doesn't mean things quickly went bad and she was murdered. IMHO this wasn't a random act by a stranger. There were a number of supposed sightings of Morgan past the 9:30 pm mark that might be more credible if you go with the theory that she hung out with someone she knew after being stuck outside during the concert. (the newspaper lady at 3am, Sunday morning at the Sheets in Orange, Christmas eve at a Sheets in West Virginia, and supposedly at a club in Charlestown W Va--can't find that link right now). So she was possibly alive and well for a while after her disappearance. Which would mean she knew who placed her in that field and that person knew the property well.
