How could she just go missing without a trace? Without someone knowing something? Without ANY clues?

This case reminds me so much of the Britanee Drexel case!

Is there any way these could be connected? How wonderful it would be to find both girls alive - being held captive, (like Jaycee Durgard - sorry sp?)

The best outcome would be for both girls to have taken off on their own to start a new life for whatever reason. The second best option as bad as it seems would be a Jaycee Dugard or Elizabeth Smart situation. The only thing is Jaycee and Elizabeth were so young, appeared virginal, and easy to control and brainwash by their older male capture/predator. I'm not sure older girls would be as attractive for the kind of predator that took Jaycee and Elizabeth.

I'm starting to think LE didn't just throw out the hitching story to the public as a head-fake.
It's possible they are being truthful and she was last spotting hitching a ride. Maybe she got into a car with someone who was watching the area for a victim, a predator like a serial raptist or a serial killer, and unfortunately Morgan was in the wrong place at the the wrong time.

It's also possible the person who picked her up hitching was someone who was not a predator per se, but someone with a history of disrespect or abuse of women (past/current wife or girlfriend). They could have assumed she "wanted it" because she was friendly and hitching and they tried something with her like grabbing her knee/leg once she was in their vehicle for a bit. Maybe then MH freaked out and hit the person or started screaming. This could have made them very angry and they hurt her in a panic to the point of having to silence her for good. A situation that was not intended to happen, but quickly escalated and got out of control?
idk I'm just throwing out possible scenarios.

Regarding the FB post and Morgan’s cell phone ringing when it was allegedly turned off; with today’s technology cell phones might indeed ring several times before going to voice mail, even if they are turn off. She could have called Morgan’s cell phone and heard it ring turned off or without a battery.

Cell networks have a timer. It is called the T3212. Explained simply, this is a function that allows the wireless network to stay in touch with your cell phone. It sets a time parameter between two periodic updates. Typical value of the T3212 duration between updates is between 4 and 24 hours. What this means is that even if your phone is off it will ring until the value of the T3212 duration period has expired. Until it expires the network does not know if your phone is off and it still rings. After the expiration the phone will be recognized as off by the network and go straight to voicemail. There is a huge misconception that phones turned off go straight to voice mail. Ask any private detective working on a cheating spouse case, law enforcement officer or your local cell phone store; they’ll tell you that is not the case. The can ring when off for a certain amount of time.

Here is a link that breaks it down somewhat simply; Just Google T3212 to get a much more complex explanation.

Ghostmaster that's possible, but I never heard of a phone ringing when it's turned off or the battery has been removed or dead. It usually goes straight to voice mail. Are all cell phones equipped with the T3212 timing program? I know that I have in the past tried my phone out by calling it when it was on to test it's ring, then turned it off and called to test it's voicemail. It always immediately went to vm as soon as it was turned off.

Mine does the same thing as well, would it depend on the cell phone service provider company?

When was this? Is this the body with the tattoo?
I don't think MH has a tattoo.

The dental records and the dna sample her parents took to LE is also what leads me to think LE are serious about her hitching and being picked up and possibly transported out of town. I think LE want to enter MH's information into the database used nationwide by LE for when they have an unidentified body, and they can compare the unidentified body's dna and teeth (if available) to all the missing person cases to see if they get a hit/match.

I think the 9 tickets is mere speculation. I haven't seen in print anywhere just how many tickets there were.

We know there was at least 4 tickets - one for MH, one for Amy, one for Rachel and one for the mystery guy who is supposedly the bf of a friend.

Rachel? Don't you mean Sarah Snead?

I wouldn't think that Metallica would appeal to all of her friends IMO or maybe they had other things they had to do and wouldn't be able to attend or maybe those other friends felt like they couldn't make plans that far in advance - since we know the tickets were bought approx. 6 months in advance of the concert.

The "9" that some posters have been referring to are that whole set of friends and possibly that is where the thought of 9 tickets came into play.

Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - VA-Morgan Dana Harrington, 20, Charlottesville

Quote from the above link:
[KayLynn Couture:] After watching Nancy Grace tonight, Morgans mother (Gil Harrington) stated that the group of girls that Morgan went to the concert with were "all like sisters" to Morgan. She says they have known each other since highschool or before, and were all girls that she was very familiar with, had in her home many times, and would do anything for each other.

The group were all like sisters?????? Huh?

Missed the Nancy Grace interview, but that interview may be the source of the possible confusion. We know that only two young women attended the concert with MH, and possibly one young man. Only one of the women had been a member of the "9."

On the first two pages of our thread #7, the possibility that MH had 9 tickets in her possession is discussed. Her father supposedly paid for these tickets; however, no authoritative source is cited. Does anyone have a reliable source?

Thank you, this makes most sense to me. LE never said the battery was missing just removed. Maybe they charged to see what if any messages were on the phone.

I thought a phone battery was one of the items searchers were told to hunt for the weekend of the big search around JPJ.

This is the only definite thing I could find with a good link. you can google "Dan Harrington bought tickets". However as you note it says,, and as do all the other articles I have found that won't turn up asterisks, he bought for Morgan and friends... No specific number of tickets or friends.

Dan Harrington, Morgan’s father said he had bought tickets for Morgan and her group months before the show.

“Metallica wasn’t necessarily her type of band, but she likes all types of music, and that was a band she wanted to see,” Harrington said.

Wow! I'm impressed - speaking as someone who still manages to put my phone on 'speaker-phone' without meaning to, and then don't know how to make it switch off again, letting the whole world in on my calls! Thanks to you, I've just learned another useful bit of knowledge. Hopefully I won't forget it before it may chance to come up in conversation. Sorry to drift off topic. :innocent:

Actually, most missing persons cases turn out well. There are dozens of cases every day that are not posted here b/c the missing person is located within hours or a day or two. What you see at WS are the ones that go beyond a couple of days, and many of them turn out badly.

I don't have stats in front of me about the number of missing persons who are found safe and those who are not, but I do know the majority are found safe.

Hoppy

hoppy I know it seems like I just like to pick on you but I promise that not so.

It is so weird I have noticed how many found deceased there have been lately in the missing section too. Maybe its just a coincidence but I have been thinking that the past week or so too.

when there were pages and pages about the nine tickets I was wondering where that came from. i just dont believe she said she would get a ride home unless she said she would with so and so. i mean no keys, that distance.

secret_agent_mom might know. I only recall hearing the battery was not in her phone. I don't recall hearing it was gone/missing. The LE could have retrieved another battery for the phone and charged it to hear if any messages were on it.
Either way, it was just a discussion about some fb comment, no biggie.

Another reason for LE to turn the phone on would be to see who would call MH the next day, either out of concern or trying to set up an alibi.

Same...same as other posts

Sorry for my last post. I should have researched a little first. It would appear none of the closed down Virginia rest areas are very close to the JPJ arena. Just hoping and praying for Morgan and her family and friends.

Actually, the one in Goochland, just before Richmond going east on I-64, is closed. About 60 miles away.

We were told to search for a cell phone battery - no description...just a cell phone battery.

We were also told to look for items that were missing from her purse - no description - just items and jewelry - the only description was the necklasce that has now been shown. And of course, her clothing or her. (Ugh, I hate typing that!)

I was wondering if we know what time the pruse was found and what time the calls were made. The purse was found by a maintenance man - what if he took the battery when he found the phone and purse? Then the phone would have rang until whatever time the purse was turned in. :waitasec:
