I have a couple of questions....First if you leave a concert you can't get back in. I'm wondering why the friend that she called did not go and open the door? The bridge sighting? Is that a fact? TIA

Morgan couldn't get back in because there is a no-reentry policy (even with a ticket stub). So - the friends could not have helped her by opening a door. They could have perhaps taken her the car keys though.

LE has reported that Morgan was seen on both sides of the bridge and has confirmed that she was hitch hiking on said bridge. One source of the information: http://www.wbtv.com/Global/story.asp?S=11500726

Thank You for the information. I can't imagine that her friends just let her go find her own way home before the band even got on stage. So,so sad. Thank you again for taking the time to answer my questions. I have been over on the SD link and I think I'm very out of touch with others.

That kind of validates those that say she never even was at the concert. I always suspected her journey ended when she made that phone call to her father to say she had arrived safely in town. I think the friends traveled on alone. Perhaps in her car.

Did she call her Father?

Don't even get me started on the CYA!!!! I will climb up on my giant soapbox and rant and rave for days! I have witnessed this before when the serial rapist was attacking young women and I believe the CYA is happening all over again. It infuriates me!! When were on campus a week after Morgan went missing it was dark and we saw many many young women all over the campus walking alone in desolate areas. I was shocked to say the least. My fear is that the CYA is causing this not to be investigated as it should be and that Morgan will never be found.

Who are CYA?
Did they ever catch that serial rapist?

It does seem pretty dark and desolate in certain areas there that would be good oppurtunities for a predator to strike.

I'm going to go with the opinion that the lighting is bad, as from the pictures i've seen, that is just what it appears to be. Poorly lit in some sections, and dark.

Hi again everyone. Today I drove from Harrisonburg to Richmond and did a lot of thinking and observing of the area. Interestingly enough there was an accident that shut both lanes of I-64 for a bit and while standing outside my vehicle I had time to appreciate how completely isolated the majority of the interstate is.

On the return trip I counted the number of exits between Charlottesville and the I-64/I-81 interchange and there are 5 between mile marker 118 and 87. The first exit (heading west) is between Charlottesville and the open rest area. The second is between the rest area and the foot of Afton Mountain. The third is on top of the mountain. The fourth is Fishersville on the west side of Afton. The fifth is where I-64 meets I-81.

I also noticed how absolutely dark this stretch of the interstate is. While I-81 passes through towns here and there, the towns off I-64 are far enough away that no light reaches the road.

I can't imagine how frightening it would be to be on such an isolated road, at night, and potentially with a stranger.

As far as the blue light boxes on campus, I've always wondered what good they would actually do. JMU has them as well, but if you were being followed by someone how much time would you have to explain this to someone on a phone?

I found a website (don't know how reputable) that ranks college safety. UVA received an A-. For comparison JMU received an A+ and VA Tech a B+.
http://collegeprowler.com/university-of-virginia/safety--and--security/

I do think it would be good if LE did (more?) investigating in the area west of Charlottesville and around Harrisonburg, since that was Morgan's presumed direction of travel and destination.

If this reporter really did speak with Snead, she appears to have lied to him for some reason..

"Another discrepancy between what police and the family seem to know revolves around the vehicle that transported the young woman and three other concert-goers to Charlottesville."
http://www.readthehook.com/blog/ind...tips-flood-in-but-still-no-morgan-harrington/

What would be reasons that Snead might lie about the number of people being 3, when it was really 4? :waitasec:

Two-Car Theory:

Amy (Morgan's roommate at Blacksburg) and Morgan drove up to JMU in Harrisonburg. There, they met up with her old friend, Sarah, and the Guy. Let's say that the Guy drove his own car.

Car #1 (Morgan's Honda) has Sarah, Amy & Morgan; Car #2 has the guy. Or Morgan may have preferred to ride in the Guy's car; in this case, someone else was the third person in Car #1. We can call this person Companion #5. Additionally, we cannot yet rule out other companions in Car #2.

Plus, we only know that Sarah was in Car #1; Amy might have been Car #2. Sarah left later on that evening in Car #1, with one of the companions.

Say the Guy was Morgan's BF. If he were to leave for some reason, she would be motivated to leave early, too. Maybe she had locked her stuff in the trunk of his car, only to come out and find both him and the car missing.

She borrows a cell to call the other girls, and the BF. He says that he will pick her up on the bridge.

This theory is simpler than the Borrowed Car theory, but still has major flaws.

I need some help from the female members that post here please. Maybe you can help me with this line of thinking. I have seen many posts by females here and elsewhere about Morgan always looking great when it comes to her hair, makeup and clothing. Even in a casual situation when others are dressed down, she’s dressed up. We all know what Morgan was wearing that night, but does anyone know what the other girls were wearing the night of the concert? Was Morgan “dressed to kill” compared to them? If so, it might mean she had plans to be elsewhere that night. Also in the same line of thinking, several women have commented on how important it was to her to always look great in any situation, hence the makeup, cloths, etc. Could a 20 year old girl be so worried or so vain about a cut on her face as to leave the JPJ arena and not want to return because she didn’t want to be seen? There is no reason for my asking other than curiosity, especially when it comes to how the others were dressed that night. It may be I’m just thinking like a guy here and way off base that those things might be important.
I am a woman and I can say that I would have just gone to the bathroom to clean up or go to a first aid station to fix it up and go back to the concert. I am always dressed up and in full makeup wherever I go even if my friends are not. But that's just me.
I may have left if I was not feeling well, I do suffer from vasal vagal syncopes and if I go through something traumatic I start to loose my sight and pass out. Good thing is I know when I am going to pass out and rapidly lay on the floor until it passes. But if that was happening then I definitely would have asked a friend to come with me and help me.
That is what strikes me as weird, my friends would have never let me go by myself if I would have gotten hurt.
Lastly, whenever I go to a concert with my husband I always go to the restroom by myself so I do not find it strange that Morgan went alone unless she was badly hurt. JMO

Say if Morgan and her date were an inter-racial couple, might they attract negative attention, enough to make him want to leave early?

Picture of Morgan with unidentified guy:

Sorry but he doesnt look like hes dating her from how hes not leaning close towards her.

BBM ..this is my opinion:
I would say yes there was a camera; Morgan supposedly cut her chin while taking pics of the band and having a fall. (common enough, especially if your trying to get the angle in the viewfinder and looking through that so your not focused on where your feet are)..
If they were told to look for a red camera, then that is one of Morgan's missing or "lost" items from that night, imo. Same as the battery of the phone seems to be missing..LE releasing she got her from a fall (while taking pics later on)
As for the bathroom sighting, you never know.
If someone had hit her, who would have done that? You'd think she would report a stranger, unless it was one of her friends.. forgive me for making assumptions here..
If the person hadn't seen her get hit, then maybe she didn't get hit, yet the person assumed she did as she was crying and upset as well..? I'm not sure how easy it is to tell the cause of injuries, especially if one got hit, unless they had a black eye..even then.
What we could gather though is since she was crying, she was upset about something. If she was that upset and crying, why didn't her friends accompany her to the bathroom? Why did she leave the arena if she was so upset? Girls that age are going to go to their friends for comfort and support, especially if they are in an arena admidst all strangers. Morgan seems to be doing the opposite, going to the bathroom upset and crying, away from her friends. If that is the case, i would question even more why her friends chose to not accompany her to the bathroom..

BBM, I second that. It makes no sense that she would be upset and not be with her friends unless she was trying to cover it up from them? Maybe she was intoxicated or did a drug and felt ashamed that she was clumsy and got hurt? I do not know what to thimk.... JMO

The only reason i can think of for her friends to not accompany her to the bathroom, is if they knew she had intentions of leaving the arena after going to the bathroom and they did not want to leave.
It is possible that they were just not thoughtful at all and didn't bother to go with her if they didn't really care or were too intoxicated to notice.
She got hurt before going to the restroom, and if it is true that she was visibly upset and crying i would definitely question why her friends weren't being there for her.
If she was alone and crying, maybe she met a guy who offered friendly help, etc and got talking and then went outside with him or to meet back up with him outside? Things seem to point that they weren't "normal" between her and her friends that night.
LE needs to take a close look at these so called "friends" that went with her there. By all means she should have stayed inside the concert with them and been able to have a good time. They should have been using the buddy system, they weren't. It's sounding more possible that there was some kind of conflict or fight that occured between her and Sarah, Amy, and the guy (whoever's boyfriend he is).
These arenas are extremely huge, crammed with a ton of people for concerts. Whenever i went to a concert when i was young, we always used the buddy system to go to the bathroom, or get drinks.

Morgan's "friends" claim they offer her advice on different entry points to attempt to reenter the arena at once she is outside, yet if they were that concerned about her, i would think they would have at least brought her the keys, if not met up with her outside. Safety should come first before having a good time..

You cannot compare a parking lot bet. a Metallica and a Jimmy Buffet concert.

Jimmy Buffet has fans that travel and go to every concert of his during his tour. A lot of these people have vans and do not go inside the arena for the concert. Instead they stay outside listening and sell merchandise, food, drinks, etc. They have Buffet music blasting and party it up. Also, a lot of people show up without tix trying to score one there.

It is the opposite with a Metallica concert. People go to the concert and they do not roam the lots while the band plays and they do not travel in caravans selling merchandise and food.

So, my point is, the night that Morgan disappeared, I bet the lot was pretty vacant by the time the band took the stage.

If what LE says is the truth and she got hurt while taking pictures and falling up or down a step, i can understand that easily.
A lot of times the steps in arenas are easy to fall on, you have to focus when you walk up them amidst a sea of people. If she was looking through a viewfinder while trying to either take a picture or video, its extremely possible to fall and miss a step.
It doesn't sound like something to be embarrassed about around friends, if they are "true friends", however everyone is different..
It doesn't make sense is right.. :waitasec:

I just don't agree with you there. Trust is the key factor.

Yes. A middle-class or more privileged individual would ask their family attorney for a referral.

Not all attorneys specialize in criminal law, and even among criminal lawyers, there are specialists in different types of cases.

My apologies to you, Walker, it seems i am the one who has completely missed the point you are making.

I see what you are saying now, that it is possible that Morgans' friends who were with her that night would obtain an attorney with integrity to deal with the media in this case, so that would be the reasoning we aren't hearing that much about her "friends" who were with her there.

They come from well to do families, who would recommend attorneys to other wealthy families, thus passing along business. If her friends have obtained their "family attorneys" who are giving them advice on how to deal with the media, the attorneys are doing an excellent job.

We should be hearing more from her friends about what happened that night, even LE stressed in their first press conference:
[nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DM1bUC35iNc"]YouTube- Broadcast Yourself.[/nomedia]
Rader stresses in conclusion 13 mins 15 secs into the videos:

"I really urge her friends who know her probably better than anyone beyond her parents. You know her habits, you know her friends, take an interest in this case. Don't let it lay down and go away from your perspective, the police won't.
But the information we recieve is as about as good as we get in conducting investigations. Hopefully we can all cooperate together the media, police, the parents and the friends and bring this thing to a successful resoluation and a postive resolution...
he then adds:

"we can talk off camera if you like if there's something you need to clarify.."
Is this last comment by Rader directed at Morgan's friends as well?

At around 9:30 into the video (15 mins long) Rader is asked by a reporter whether she made it to the concert and the details on who reported her missing. Rader relays her father did and Rader says he won't go into detail how they learned that..

It seems this first press conference about Morgan going missing may be directed towards her friends' working with LE in this investigation.
We've not heard much about them at all.
IMO, we need to hear more about how her friends are really working with LE to help in this case.
Does LE have reason that her friends may want to Clarify something with them?
(given that is directed towards them)
Was something not clear prior to Rader saying that?
Has Morgan's friends really been cooperating? Or cooperating through their attorneys if they have them?

"The information they recieve is as good as we get.."

Does this mean that LE is implying that the information from her friends wasn't that good?

LE urging the friends to get involved in Morgan's case. Aside from a search and maybe an interview, what have her friends been doing to help LE with this case?
Did they lawyer up?
The reward amount is $150,000. Is that appealing to her wealthy friends to give up more information?

I need help with these questions, sometimes i fail to "read" things correctly..

I have a sneeking feeling that LE is going to end up discrediting a lot of the supposed sightings of Morgan outside the arena at somepoint. To me, the vast majority of the sightings, which have been termed "someone looking like Morgan" are just that... Someone that looks like Morgan, not Morgan herself.

The sad part of it is, I really think that this all will be AFTER they find her body.

Who are CYA?

CYA stands for "Cover Your A$$" In other words, say things/do things so the big brass can't come back and find fault. Oftentimes, CYA reactions aren't as usefull as honest reactions. Hope this helps!

Sorry for the confusion. I was responding to UVA covering thier a$$*$.

The rapist was caught in 2008 after a decade of attacks on and near the campus. (Article: http://www.newsplex.com/home/headlines/15955547.html

I know that LE says that there were DNA links to the rapes and everyone seemed to believe that this man wa sguilty of all the attacks, but lots of things never set right with me. Early reports said that his DNA was only linked to two cases, but then suddenly it was being reported that the DNA was linked to seven cases. That seemed odd to me. And...the description of the rapist was that he had very large eyes with lots of white. All of the victims spoke about his eyes. I don't find this man's eyes to be unusual as I would have expected them to be.

To my knowledge - there haven't been anymore rapes since this man was convicted so maybe it was him. Of course, I have also heard stories of the university hiding (not reporting) assaults and rapes that happen on campus.

Sorry for the long post and to be OT. This topic really frustrates me.

FWIW - Our search group was not given a description of the camera during our briefing. Someone in our group asked our leader for a description of the camera and/or battery and she said, "Just look for a camera or a battery of any kind."

It makes me wonder if different groups got different instructions? :waitasec: I felt ours were very generic and not very helpful.
