...
He will be playing again, I would bet my right leg on it.

Cal
If he can make a team money, you can bet that he will be playing again. I hope that I am wrong.

We now have to take a wait and see. Michael Vick will be sentenced, and then we will have to see how long Michael Vick actually spends in jail. Sentences these days are a joke; as unless a prisoner really acts up while in prison, they are usually released very early--often after having served less than half of their original sentence. Michael Vick could be out of jail well within the same year he went in, and that's even if he is sentenced to up to two years.

Soon, the NFL will need to make a statement. We'll see how it is phrased. The Falcons will also make a statement, again, we will need to see how it is phrased.

Virginia has said that they will bring charges against Michael Vick too. I can't see that happening, as it seems it would be a waste of time, as their sentence would probably end up being served concurrent with the Federal sentencing, but I almost hope I am wrong.

The special on dog fighting on Bryant Gumbel made me hysterical. I cried all that night and I still hear the sound of some a**hole shooting his dog in the head because he lost a fight.
I still recall the face of one dog who was mauled and deformed by another dog in a dog fight. And I still recall watching the lady at the humane society putting a 'fighting" dog to sleep on national TV simply because he had been in dog fights.... seemed gentle enough, though.
The dog just died before our very eyes... she described him as "going to sleep".
Oh, it infuriated me.
That dog should not have been put in that position.
Dogs are companions to humans. They are man's best friend.
How dare man throw them into vicious fights, beat them, shoot them, and kill them!!

It should be stopped.
Anyone associated with such inhumane violence should be imprisoned and immediately have all pets removed from their home.

It's disgusting and vulgar.
I can feel God's raining tears.

It HAS TO STOP.

Michael Vick is a poor excuse for a human being.
I hope someone drop kicks his sorry 🤬🤬🤬 in prison.
I hope he gets thrown into a group of dogs and mauled.
I hope he experiences a fraction of what he and his so-called friend perpetuated on innocent dogs.
And i hope he faces judgment day and goes straight to hell where he can burn.

I heard that the sentences for VA charges would be based on the gambling aspect and would carry much longer sentences. Plus, the IRS would likely get involved for the tax evasion on his winnings...I am certain he didn't report it.

There may be hope.

I'm not a big feetball fan but I'll say a prayer for Harrington! I hope he does an exceptional job so the Falcons won't even think about Vick anymore.
Atlanta's record hasn't been very good in the last few years with Vick, so I, too, am hoping that Harrington can bring a change for the better.

2004 11 5 0 1st NFC South Won Divisional Playoffs (Rams) 47-17
Lost Conference Championship (Eagles) 27-10
2005 8 8 0 3rd NFC South --
2006 7 9 0 3rd NFC South --

That's because Vick's superstar status revolves around his speed and nothing else. Marginal arm. Substandard intelligence and more than questionable decision making skills on and off the field.

For crying out loud, he was larger than Jordan in many ways with regards to endorsements.....he did such a poor job speaking that Airtran stopped using him before all these charges came out. My thinking was that if Airtran was going to try to serve the type of people who would be swayed by marble mouth's ghetto speak, I don't want to fly on that airline.

The part showing the dog being put down was disturbing. But people need to SEE what those dogs go through and how they end up. A lot of people have "heard" or read about dogfighting, but have never seen the actual brutality of it. I think it was something that needed to be shown.

Every time I see one of these, I look at my sweet dogs and can't imagine how someone can do this. They have each individual personalities. My vet said he has never seen a pit bull born mean, if it is mean it is because somebody made it that way and he said you have to do awful things to them to make them mean because they are gentle with people by nature. He said raised with kids they will be great dogs. These fightings dogs have endured so much by man but still wag their tails when people show them a little compasion, a little affection, it is so sad.

NAACP urges NFL to let Vick play again
An NAACP leader said Michael Vick should be allowed to return to the NFL, preferably the Atlanta Falcons, after serving his sentence for his role in a dogfighting operation.

"As a society, we should aid in his rehabilitation and welcome a new Michael Vick back into the community without a permanent loss of his career in football," said R.L. White, president of the group's Atlanta chapter. "We further ask the NFL, Falcons, and the sponsors not to permanently ban Mr. Vick from his ability to bring hours of enjoyment to fans all over this country."

White said the Falcons quarterback made a mistake and should be allowed to prove he has learned from that mistake.

I think I might just do the same here!!! All I know for sure is Vick is a sick pri#k and should NEVER be allowed back. I highly doubt he will ever play in the NFL ever again, at least I hope!

I'm sorry, but this is total B.S.!!! The "man" was involved in dog fighting and murdering dogs that did not "perform" as winners by shooting, drowning, and hanging. We should all admire such a so-called athlete??? I think not!

Many others (you know, "regular folk") that have committed crimes against animals have gone to prison as well as undergone psych tests to find out why the feel the need to maim/kill innocent animals. Vick deserves better treatment because he plays football. Gimmee a freaking break. Pete Rose was banned from baseball for gambling. Vick is an animal killer, but deserves better treatment for entertainment sake.

That just makes me want to vomit.....

Vick is also pleading guilty to gambling charges, I assume, so that should earn him the lifetime ban alone, just like Rose and others have had.

If he wasn't black, the NAACP could care less. That's all they look at, as that is their "job." If it was Bret Favre (another southern boy) they wouldn't care less, or even hold the same opinion, IMHO.

Excellent point!!!!!!! Maybe we need to e-mail them and write letters to the editors in Atlanta and point out their hypocrisy! It's the least we can do for the animals, before the NFL caves in to them and goes easy on Vick.

yep just as I suspected it's quite obvious black people simply do not believe dog fighting is a bad thing. they obviously don't feel Michael Vick deserves the punishment he's getting. Like I said before, this is another black vs white thing.

Amazing decision he made not to go to trial. His lawyers definitely would've gotten at least one black juror on there and most likely more than half would've been black. But even if there were only a few black people on the jury, hung jury guaranteed with a chance at not guilty verdict.

People like SadieMae are living in a dream world when they say that most black people dont' support Michael Vick. SadieMae also said it wasn't true that the overwhelming majority of black people in America didn't support Orenthal. Ya right. lol.

Nevermind the dog torturing, nevermind the Channon Christian/Chris Newsom torture/murders.....Don Imus is the worst person ever because he's a shock jock who made some silly jokes....boo hoo!

oh and please don't even try to say that most black people don't support Mike Vick. You'd be wrong to say that, they've just been hiding behind the guise of "wait for due process" and many black people have openly said dog fighting is not that big a deal. When the Duke Lacrosse players were charged, there were no black people saying "wait for due process" they were calling for their heads even though there was not a shred of evidence against those charged.

I'm with you all the way. But if he were thrown into a group of dogs, they'd probably kiss his face. Because, in spite of the way he's treated so many of them, they were and always will be man's best friend.

IndyGal, it is a race issue whether you admit it or not. I've never known a single white person involved in the "sport" (ha!) of dogfighting. It is primarily a hobby of black culture.

That you claim all people with similar skin tones hold identical beliefs is racist.

The O.J. Simpson case notwithstanding, black jurors find black defendants guilty every day. In my personal experience on jury panels, black jurors were the least sympathetic to claims that black defendants were unduly disadvantaged and therefore due special considerations.

Some black leaders have articulated a belief that African American celebrities are held to higher standards and punished more harshly when they fail. Whether or not that belief is accurate, rants that begin with "all blacks this" and "all blacks that" aren't going to change anyone's mind.

Personally, I don't agree that Michael Vick deserves leniency. But the NAACP isn't even an elected body, much less the anointed voice of the Great Black Mind Meld. Jumping from an NAACP statement to "all blacks" isn't necessary. Unless, of course, such a statement merely serves to reinforce one's deeply ingrained prejudice.
