I just have to say, and this will be the last time i look at this thread, I am SO OVER people being hypocrites. We (not me but most of society) called for him to be hung, or, oh my god can't believe it's an animal yadda yadda yadda, but clearly we've mentioned PEOPLE dying and no one seems to hold them to this same esteem?? The man has served his time. Don't like him? Well hope he doesn't end up on your team, change favorites if he does. JB, what salary cap would you put him at? THAT is the most ridiculous thing I have EVER heard. Am I sickened by what he did? yes but the man served his time and wants to go back to WORK. plain and simple. So you want to try to pass a law that felons can't make more than minimum wage? Good luck with THAT in the land of the free and the day that law passes I will MOVE. We have freedoms, and so do criminals after they serve their time.

There are lots of jobs out there that a convicted felon will never be able to hold once out of prison.....in America. I believe that playing in the NFL should be one of them.

While I believe he's an incredible athlete, I thought Philly, the City of Brotherly Love, was trying to bring "better attention" to the Eagles...since sooo many fans were concentrating on Andy Reid's sons drug habits. How in the world will that be accomplished now? Is this a forgive & forget...as long as you help us get to the Super Bowl and make us richer and we'll forgive you and your cronies for torturing innocent animals & turning them into killers in return...kind of deal?

Michael Vick's contract with the Eagles is for two years, but his stay in Philadelphia is more likely to last one year based on contract terms revealed Thursday night.

Fox's Jay Glazer has the scoop: Vick signed a one-year, $1.6 million contract with a team option for 2010. The option is for $5.2 million.

This Vick story is so disturbing to me. He is convicted of crime and yet, is signed up for a $1.6 million deal 2010. Seriously, is it any wonder why so many that look up to sport "hero's" think they can get off themselves when involved in a crime they choose to be part of???

This disgusts me. The guy knew, planned, and was part of money making abusive/death crime regarding dogs. The only way he could ever make himself a decent, humble, "I take responsibility for illegal activity" for me, is if he donated a HUGE portion of his income to those in need.
I very much doubt that would EVER happen.

This is not the first time that the NFL has let a player that has been convicted to come back and play in the NFL.

That said, Michael Vick has served his time and the NFL has reinstated him. I say instead of just outright judging if he hasn't cleaned up his act without proof, give him a bit of time because if he hasn't then he will screw up again.

Lol hate to admit it but Philly pfans are just nuts and if anyone can accept him on to their teams its philly. Though the city is pretty divided at the moment.

Andy Reids personal experiences are coming in to play here.. its his own kids repeated trips to jail that is part of the decison making for him

However Not sure what the Heck is going on in the front office - seriously wonder about the decision making. They let some great players/guys go over money and short tenure but they take Vick for a short time, but he was cheaper then others though he is also the 4th quarterback and they will not get rid of McKabb...

Well, I woke up this a.m. to the news and I am just stunned.....absolutely stunned........

I live about an hour from Philadelphia. We have a friend who has season tickets to the Eagles and we have gone to many many games.......I actually don't think I can sit in those seats now knowing that piece of garbage is on the field......

I'm an animal lover and his actions are inexcusable.....He's paid his dues? How? He served 18 months out of a 23 month sentence and boom, 2 weeks later, he's back in the NFL? What restitution has he made or will he make. Will he donate 1/2 his salary to animal shelters? Will he lecture people on how he learned from his mistakes?

Truly disappointed in the Eagles today. We all know everyone wants to win that trophy and wear that ring but at what price? Bringing this guy to Philly? And paying him millions to do it?

Do I believe everyone deserves a second chance? I believe in second chanches, but definitely not for this guy. He tortured, electocuted, and drowned poor defenseless animals. He's a piece of garbage.....:furious:

I don't normally watch football and I'm not, never was, a fan of Michael Vick. With that said I will watch the first televised Eagles game just to see the reaction of the audience.

They better hope they win every game or MV might take it upon himself to rid the team of the losers (isn't that what he did with his dogs?). JK and no, I don't seriously think he would do anything to intentionally hurt his teammates.
