I agree, Dark_Shadow! The NFL should ban Vick for life and probably will, IMO. He is now an "undesirable" for being a role model to others and would no longer be an asset to the NFL. I don't believe the plea deal will do anything except lessen his jail time and keep a trial from bringing out even more horrid truths of Vick and his racket.

Vick is finished careerwise. He will be lucky to be hired to flip burgers at Burger King after this!

Of course you or I would have been locked up along time ago

We sure were. I predict that he'll be very much loved and taken care of during his stay.

yep. doesn't matter how good the fed lawyers are (and they're the best) all the defense needs to do is make sure there are a few black jurors and the best we can hope for a is a hung jury. and if it's an overwhelmingly black jury, forget it, not guilty verdict hands down.

don't think it can happen? I have two letters for you...O and J.

Unh, uh. This transcends color; it's about how one treats those in your charge. Black, white, green, this is going to go the way it should: colorblind.

Garbageman (Is used to the smell)

Here's the article at msnbc.com!

Updated: 43 minutes ago

RICHMOND, Va. - Michael Vick agreed Monday to plead guilty to federal dogfighting conspiracy charges, a deal that leaves the Atlanta Falcons quarterback facing up to 18 months in prison and puts his NFL career in jeopardy.

Under the plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend Vick be sentenced to between a year and 18 months in prison, according to a government official who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the terms have not yet been made final.

That would be a higher penalty than is usually recommended for first-time convicts, and reflects an attempt by the government to show that animal abusers will receive more than a slap on the wrist for their crimes, the official said.

The offense is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson will have the final say on how much time Vick will ultimately spend in jail.

Vick’s plea hearing is Aug. 27.

Defense attorney Billy Martin said Vick reached an agreement with federal prosecutors after consulting with his family during the weekend.

“Mr. Vick has agreed to enter a plea of guilty to those charges and to accept full responsibility for his actions and the mistakes he has made,” Martin said in a statement. “Michael wishes to apologize again to everyone who has been hurt by this matter.”

I'd read online this morning that Vick's attorneys wanted less than a year in prison and the Feds wanted 18-36 months.
:truce:

Oh wait, he apologized. He should be set free now. :p

I'm sure every convicted murderer would apologize too if they thought they could avoid going to prison. He's just trying to save his hide! :furious:

I believe I read in the paper today that Hawaii is one of only 2 states that allow dog fighting legally?

I will have to see if I can find it.....

Meanwhile - I would love to hear what went on behind closed doors with Vick....I bet he cannot believe he has been caught and people aren't forgiving him.....sh!thead.....:behindbar

I heard that 2 states still allow it, but I'm not sure which ones. :furious:

I heard this on my way in this morning on the radio!
They were saying that people here in Atlanta were sending in their Vick jerseys into the local SPCA's and shelters for dog bedding! :woohoo:
I don't know if it is true or not or if it was a joke but I laughed. LOL! They said it on the Fish.

Apologized? Hmmm...It seems that he was telling the public and his fans to wait to judge him, that he was not guilty and that he looked forward to a trial to clear his name...

So, I guess that you could say that I am really confused. If MV is innocent as he proclaimed in the very recent past, why on earth would he take a plea?? Why wouldn't he just go to trial to clear his good name??

I can't wait to see how his lawyers and he spin this. Please, insult our intelligence again with some cockamame story, Michael.

He realized that his 'good name' was actually a detriment to this case! :D

How ironic he will be in chains behind fences now:crazy: Everything that goes around comes around, although I would have rather him have his mouth taped and hands and feet tied and then left to fight of some of his dogs.

Wait until he carries that big dog persona into the Federal pen and meets some really bad dogs! :D

I hope he is given the same violations that my dog gives the cat from time to time. I don't understand that, she is such a shrew. :D

I really think that Vick will have a grand old time in prison. They'll all be asking for his autograph and slapping him on the back.

I don't really think so....famous personality equals target.

Unless, that is, he is sent to a farm system somewhere.
