I really think that Vick will have a grand old time in prison. They'll all be asking for his autograph and slapping him on the back.

That's my feeling too. I don't see him as being a target like Scott Peterson is at all. Hero worship and all that....

I agree with this. While I think being locked up for any amount of time would be horrible to endure, I think people like him have it much easier than the general public. He'll be runnin' 🤬🤬🤬🤬 before you know it.

I'd still rather be free.

IMO he'll have a group of hangers on around him who will defend him if there's ever a need. Many people are outraged about the animal torture but I doubt as many people in prison are, maybe they would be more so if he wasn't a famous football player but I believe he'll be walking in there as a celebrity and when he walks back out he'll still be seen in that light. The biggest way he'll be affected is in the pocket, this will cost him many millions and I would love if he also had to pay a million dollar fine to help go towards helping some animal shelters.

The unfortunate part, from watching Monday Night Football last night, is that they are already talking about his comeback....:banghead:

"show contrition", "serve your time", "give a lot of money to the HSUS or animal causes", "America is a forgiving nation", etc.

The media has gone from he is done to he will probably play in the 2009-2010 season.

Grrrrr.

GRRRR indeed! I still haven't heard anything CLOSE to remorse from his 'camp' and legal team. The only remorse seems to be about what he has done to his football career and let down fans. How about showing some remorse for what you DID, how about perhaps saying that 'yeah, it was disgusting and I am ashamed of my actions.'

It all seems to be about him, not that I expected anything different.

And we need to keep up with writing these money-grubbing yahoos at the NFL and the owner of the Atlanta Falcons. Oh, did I leave out the politicians like East Tennessee's Region One US House Rep member David Davis who voted AGAINST stiff Federal penalties for interstate commerce when trafficking animals for illegal means? We need to tell these politicians what we think too, maybe repeatedly so they'll know we're watching their actions. :furious:

I'm afraid "once a 🤬🤬🤬🤬, always a 🤬🤬🤬🤬" applies in some cases ... unfortunately. I have little respect for any sport that would take back someone who committed these crimes but he also lied about it and lied to his employer as well. It sure won't say much for the Falcons or the NFL if they let him back under any circumstances.

I'm sure Vick will be kept in the "special population" section, for celebs, child killers, etc.

We need to make sure the NFL bans him for life. Bombard them with e-mail, letters and phone calls until they do it.

I saw on msnbc.com there's a poll where readers can vote and the results don't look like people are all that forgiving or believe he's going to play again!

I think they're waiting until he formally enters his plea in court next week. I also hope the Judge gives him the maximum sentence despite the DA's recommendations.

ITA, there is no place for criminals like him and no excuse for his behavior. This is one step away from human torture as to suit his needs. As I have mentioned before I am from an NFL family. I have seen the abuse when someone goes awry and capitalizes on stardom.

The issue is to keep on track and not let the big contracts cloud the justice that needs to prevail.

Dear Buzz,

Today, Michael Vick’s attorney announced that Vick has apologized and is taking full responsibility for his actions in relation to federal dogfighting charges. When Vick pleads guilty in court, a case that has jolted the conscience of a nation will have reached something of a conclusion.

But our work is far from over.

I encourage you now to sign our virtual thank you card for U.S. Attorney Chuck Rosenburg and his staff, who have prosecuted this case and helped bring the tragedy of animal fighting into the spotlight. And I ask you to help us bring other horrible crimes against animals to an end by making a special gift to our Animal Cruelty Response and Reward Fund.

The Humane Society of the United States has charted an increase in law enforcement activity since the Vick indictment, with at least 32 animal fighting rings broken up in 15 states in just the last month alone. Vast numbers of other cases, however, need attention -- and to that end, we’ve doubled our standard reward to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of dogfighters.

Our phones are ringing off the hook with requests for help by law enforcement officials, who often want our expertise in both investigating these crimes and coordinating the logistics involved in rescuing large numbers of animals from abusive situations.

In fact, our Animal Cruelty Response and Reward Fund was created to make this work possible. In addition to enabling us to offer rewards, this fund helps underwrite our undercover investigations, our work assisting local law enforcement, our championing of tougher laws, and our highly trained response teams that rescue animals from large-scale cruelty cases.

We must not let the scourge of animal fighting continue after the publicity surrounding the Vick case recedes. Please thank the U.S. Attorneys today, and help make our cruelty response work possible for tomorrow.

Thank you for all you have done to protect animals victimized in these sickening staged battles.

Sincerely,

Wayne Pacelle
President & CEO
The Humane Society of the United States

I'm watching Hannity & Colmes and they're going to be talking about Vick. They've given him a new name on the banner at the bottom of the screen ~ "CON-VICK". :woohoo:

LOL!! Fits though.

While it seems I am bashing Falcons players I want to acknowledge others that I worked with on committee years ago.Steve Bartkowski former Falcon quarterback who was famous for his "Hail Mary's" and William Andrews who attended ballet classes to have an edge and a heck of a running back. These guys were awesome in raising funds for the Ronald McDonald House in Decatur near Emory. I know that Bart was called Peachtree Bart at some time but he was the best when help was needed and he did his part. I knew others but these guys were the ones that raised cancer awareness in children and did the most for helping.

I really thought that name was fitting too!! :D About the players, there are so many good ones who go out of their way for charities and community service and then there are the very few like Vick and a couple of his teammates who are still defending him. It's going to be an interesting season for the Falcons this year because Harrington is going to have to step up to the plate and take over as QB and his record isn't that great with other teams.

I'm not a big feetball fan but I'll say a prayer for Harrington! I hope he does an exceptional job so the Falcons won't even think about Vick anymore.

I will too ~ but I can't cheer on the team since they're in the same division as mine!!! :D

Michael Vick makes me sick.
Animal abuse -- especially dog fighting -- needs to STOP.

Michael Vick should go straight to hell!!!!

Right, but the American people are sheeple.....the more they hear the idea that he will be allowed to play again.....they will start to come to acceptance of it.

He will be playing again, I would bet my right leg on it.

The really funny thing is that Matt Schaub was a great quarterback...I think he could be the next Farvre. They traded him on a Wednesday and these dog fighting allegations hit on Saturday or Sunday. DOOOH.

To avoid turning this into a racial issue, you cannot--in today's world of the NBA and NFL--hang your team's hopes and season around the neck of a hip hop 🤬🤬🤬🤬. Lewis, Vick, Vick Jr., Winslow, etc. I want someone running my team that has a strong moral character and a tad bit of self control....like Peyton Manning, Grant Hill, Terry Bradshaw, Roger Staughback [sic?], etc.
