Now, that the NFL has issued a ruling, although not one with finality to it, we need to hear from the Atlanta Falcons.

Under certain circumstances the Atlanta Falcons can try to recover signing bonus money paid to Vick. I don't know if this fits those certain circumstances, but we should hear details shortly after Vick appears in court Monday.

I'm thinking Michael Vick will be selling off some assets including the Bad Newz Kennels Virginia property. It's probably well set up for someone to open a legitimate kennel operation. Buy it on a distress sale.

IndyGal, it is a race issue whether you admit it or not. I've never known a single white person involved in the "sport" (ha!) of dogfighting. It is primarily a hobby of black culture.

I see white people all the time involed in dogfighting. Turned them in myself, sometimes!

Vick let his football career and the money he made go straight to his head. He thought he was too rich to get caught or to get arrested. Thankfully his buddies are ready to testify against him and the NFL is taking this seriously.

Nike Terminates Contract With Vick

BEAVERTON, Ore. (Aug. 24) - Nike severed its ties with Michael Vick on Friday after he filed a plea agreement on dogfighting charges and was suspended indefinitely by the NFL.

"Nike has terminated our contract with Michael Vick following today's release of details of his plea. As we have said in previous statements, we consider any cruelty to animals inhumane, abhorrent and unacceptable," the Nike statement said in its entirety.

I think that is great they suspended him before his plea has been officially entered. I hope this sends a message to all other proffessional players that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated. Our children look up to these people, they need to be held accountable.

Michael Vick can only hope he will get more leniency from the judge than he did from the NFL. Roger Goodell's letter informing the Atlanta Falcons quarterback of his suspension reads almost like a goodbye, the NFL commissioner doing nothing to hide his disgust and his disdain.

A similar reaction by U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson, who will be presented with Vick's plea agreement on Monday, could mean years in prison.

In court papers, Vick admitted bankrolling "Bad Newz Kennels" and participating in the killing of dogs in the dogfighting operation. But he tried to deflect much of his culpability in the grisly enterprise onto his friends.

That didn't deter Goodell, who was quick to hold Vick responsible, suspending him indefinitely and without pay Friday from the job that made him a millionaire and a superstar. The decision, on the brink of season opener, left the Falcons without their headline player. Goodell he made it forcefully clear Vick wasn't helping himself by trying to pawn off blame on his three co-defendants in the case. "You are now justifiably facing consequences for the decisions you made and the conduct in which you engaged. Your career, freedom and public standing are now in the most serious jeopardy," Goodell wrote.

The Falcons are expected to cut ties with Vick once the signing bonus issue is resolved. If the Falcons receive payment from Vick, that amount will be applied to the salary cap of the upcoming season. This is the most important thing. Unfortunately the lawyers pussed out and apparently so will the judge with the jail sentence, 12 to 18 months? PFFFT big deal. What Vick is most worried about is the money. That's why he made sure not to plead guilty to the gambling because that would be NFL banishment.

The best thing will be for Vick to lose A LOT of his money. The good news is that he was due to make about $61 million over the rest of his Falcons contract and that's DONE. NFL contracts aren't guaranteed and he will not get the $61 million in base salary. Great news. Now is the $22.5 million the Falcons will try to get back and they have every right to do so. The owner of the Falcons, Arthur Blank, has a lot more money than Mike Vick will ever have and surely has the best attorneys so I'm hoping he will win and Vick will be forced to give back $22.5 million. I'm looking for Vick to lose $83.5 million. That'd be sweet.

Hopefully the judge will at least give the high end of the fed lawyers 12-18 month recommendation. Very disappointed in those lawyers. Vick had NO leverage. They should've made it a 3 year minimum sentence which would be half the maximum and all time must be served of the 3 years. If Vick doesn't take the deal, fine then add the RICO charges. Oh well maybe the state of Virginia will charge Vick with that?

If the Judge gives 18 months, Vick will be out for the next two NFL seasons which would be nice plus the commissioner will probably add a one year suspension so Vick will not be playing for the next three seasons at least. The reason this is good is because he will be 31 by the time he gets back in the league at the earliest. There will be some team dumb enough to sign him to the league minimum, probably the Raiders. The older he is, the less time he can still play.

The judge should say "screw the plea recommendations, I sentence all three to 6 years" (which is the max) that'd be awesome.

The only teams I can think of that would take Mikey Vick are the Raiders and the Dallas Crackwagon aka Dallas Cowboys.
