But, do we know that's actually DE, or just someone that looks similar to DE?

There is no way to know for sure. It's not a public profile, it's his profile on Kik.

This was the case with ARS, who killed :rose: Jessica Ridgeway :rose: . He initially attacked an adult female jogger in May. Later that year in October he went for a younger, weaker victim, 12 year old Jessica. Her case is classic is demonstrating how some predators do not always operate within certain age perameters (the same is true with some serial killers with regards to gender preference).

In Nichole's case, we do not know any of the details at this point, while it does seem obvious that a social media/internet connection could be present, different from some other cases being discussed for reference, such as Jenise's, Maddie's and Jessica's murders, but I'm guessing the bottom line is going to be the same. Rape and murder of a minor.

Anxiously awaiting to see how this unfolds, I further speculate to say the defense attorneys are going to have a field day with this one. I've mentioned in another thread about me having the misfortune of having to attend a group dinner with one of these defense attorneys, representing a 20 something year old iirc accused of SA on a young girl. The attorney was telling us what he planned to say in court the next day, about how this girl was promiscuous, she brought it on, basically blaming the victim, anyway I told him he doesn't stand a chance because the girl is a CHILD and to go on the stand blaming the victim hardly does well in shining a good light on him and his client (or maybe I didn't tell him that so he could go look like an a$$ in court).

Nichole might have opened herself up to a very, very dangerous situation that cost her her life. Bless her heart, makes me so sad, I'm sure I would have done the same if the Internet was around when I was a teenager. No doubt.

He still killed a little girl, whatever the case.
its revolting what the defence attorneys will do, including badgering and blaming statutory rape victims in depositions and on the stand, which is what makes taking the cases to trial a difficult decision for parents, when the victim is a survivor-- do I put my child through this, or do we take a plea bargain... It's revolting, and I suspect it accounts for the fact that so many of these dirtbags don't get what's rightfully deserved. I hope that the autopsy reveals indisputable evidence so that the punishment can fit the crime and the family doesn't have to be dragged through too much. I'm not sure I even want to keep up with this.

Ohhhh! I was there but was so focused on the awful top line with that other jerk calling her ugly, sorry I don't do this SM stuff. Sorry, haven't had my coffee yet, he's right there, DUH, that's what yall were talking about with LG. I need to quit speedreading!)

LG. See, he's a freaking pedophile!!!!

Eta:

Mods, hope this OK to post since he's been named as the perp, (if not please delete!)
Deleted by me, help trying to delete my attachment!!! Flagging my post.
Whats LG mean?

Whats LG mean?

"Little girl" though it is more likely he was saying "Ig" as in Instagram since Kik auto capitalizes the first letter in a line of text.

I wouldn't be so quick to post that pic here since we have NO way of knowing (through LE, MSM, etc.) if it's been confirmed it's actually DE. Could be a totally innocent kid. Or, it may actually be him. We just don't know for sure.

Whats LG mean?

Maybe looking good? If it was true as I suspect and she was dumped by a guy he might have built up her sled confidence and went with him

I think it will be no more complicated than he was trying to "get laid" and then it went horribly, horribly wrong in every way, and he panicked. I don't think there will be more to it than that.

Word to the wise: don't believe profiles on the internet, and meet in a public place if you choose to date online.

When you're talking about a 13 year old girl, there's much more to it than "trying to get laid". Putting aside the fact that it's morally wrong, at 13 years old, she is unable to legally give consent. I think saying he just wanted to get laid removes some of the responsibility from him. HE is the one responsible for choosing a child to illegally get involved with. Even if she was of age, she ended up dead and I highly doubt it was of her own doing. JMO of course.

I don't know we can name him a pedophile, she was posing as 18 on the dating sites as posted above and in the slanted pictures she posts, I could see where someone could believe her. I'm not so sure he knew she was 13. Maybe suspected she was 16 or 17 but I don't think her actions and pics unequivocally would let someone know she was 13. She looks younger in the full body shots

In any event there is too much doubt to prove he knew she was underage but I don't think it matters legally. As long as she is underage what he thought does not matter

She looked 13 to me. I do see your point though and it is valid, if he really thought she was 18.

Maddy Middleton (can't remember the killers name and don't care to look) is another one that comes to mind.

Most photos automatically capitalize the first letter so it's likely an I.

I don't think much blame can be put on Facebook at all really. The internet, as a whole, yes. But pre-facebook there were other places where this kind of stuff went on. So unfortunately, even if those FB groups are taken down...the creeps will just find somewhere new.

It will be pretty hard for me to teach my son to "trust nobody" on the internet though....since that's how my husband and I met each other.

Right - BUT you were probably an adult? Children/teens don't have the maturity or life experience to guide them yet in this type of situation. As adults, we know to meet in a public place, we know it's ok to leave if we get a bad vibe. Most kids don't get this yet. Yikes, even some adults to be honest. But as parents, it's up to us to make sure our kids don't even go there yet. So, right now I am teaching my kids not to trust a stranger online.

(I'm going to quit speed reading I thought yall posted upstream it was a common abbreviation for little girl?)

(ABSOLUTELY. I realized my huge mistake immediately and tried to delete and flagged my post IMMEDiately. As soon as I hit click I was like Noooooooo! Soooo sorry about that! Putting myself in timeout!)

(Eta: my heart was just racing because if that's him, that clearly establishes a connection in this case and that is HUGE imo!)

Could mean anything really. I think it's more likely he was saying "ig" for Instagram but that's JMO

Whats LG mean?

One of my DDs has a kik account so I had her search his "David A" user name & no user found....and I asked her what "Ig" means & she said that is a capital i not an "L" & it means "I guess", so seems he's replying to a question of some sorts.
If they had met previously, is it possible they had relations before, could she have possibly told him she was pregnant? That for sure would've ruined his cross country future, not that abduction & murder wouldn't but that could've been why she left with only a blanket & left her window open, she thought she was only going outside to "talk about things". We don't know for sure if this was the 1st time she'd snuck out.

The thoughts & opinions stated above are that, MY random thoughts & opinions.

And once again we don't know for sure it's DE. To me they look alike but the pic is so small. In no way am I saying it's definitely him, just thought they look similar.

Rest in peace, sweetie :(

ETA In cases like this, it just doesn't really matter to me what she was doing ' online'. She did not deserve to die and I'm so glad they got their perp so quickly.

ETAA What have we done by creating this world wide web where our babies fall victim every single day and no one can seem to stop it ?

:tyou:

Also sometimes people know something intellectually but choose to ignore it in pursuit of another goal. Even if he knew she was underage he might have chosen to ignore that.

In fact prosecution would be best off not focusing so much on her age and what he did or did not know, because then all these dating websites will come in where she says she was 18. Focusing on what he knew about her age just gives the defense an opportunity to muddy the waters. They will just say he was a normal 18 year old looking to get laid and he thought she was 18 as she expressly told him that

Unless they have a smoking gun where she confesses to him she is 13 they could never prove what he knew. Best to leave it to jury to decide what he did or did not know and not make it the focus of the case

People seem to forget that everyone is innocent UNTIL proven guilty or admit guilt.
A defence attorney job is to DEFEND their client. If an accused does not get a fair trail, the conviction can be thrown out. It might be wrong to many, but that's the way the judicial system works.
FYI all jails have many innocent people.

All MOO!

He met her before they interacted on that FB group as evidenced by their Kik conversation from November that she screenshotted on her IG.

Yes. I tried to bring that post forward from page 6 last night but unfortunately I included a quoted post from Nichole (Sorry Mods) and both posts were removed. (I blame after midnight brain. :blushing:) She made reference to her boyfriend who was 19 and something about the Special Olympics. Many track and field athletes mentor Special Olympic athletes. (The thought sickens me that he was a mentor to some young person).
