THANK YOU WEBSLEUTHERS for posting the live tweets. I just caught up with your coverage. Excellent work and much appreciated by me!!

Onward we go....

Thanks to all who followed the trial and posted tweets. I was working all day, but am uber-interested in this case. Sounds like both of these two are sadistic, narcissistic and just plain kooky to me. Both need to be locked away.

I didn't realize the timeline until now:

Per the prosecution, DE stabbed Nicole and left her bleeding/dying on Craig Creek Road, and didn't return to the murder scene until 17 hours later. (Keepers accompanied him on the "return")

I got distracted this afternoon and evening. Can you tell me where you got the information for the timeline? TIA!

ETA: Reading through the news stories today, I'm still not finding anything to indicate NK was at the crime scene when DE first took NL into the woods to kill her. Not saying it didn't happen, but am trying to put that together from the testimony today.

Ok...a few things I wanted to note. I referred to this old Daily Mail news article

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...der-suspects-left-clues-possible-motives.html

to see that between midnight & 7am on Jan27, according to Nicole's mother, was when she disappeared. Apparently, she met DE after climbing out of her bedroom window, and he took her to Natalie Keepers. Wondering for sure what this means. Any chance he "turned over" Nicole to Natalie, to do with her what she wanted, and then HE helped HER hide the body, instead of the other way around. We know they bought cleaning supplies, etc. at two Walmarts (apparently DE & NK did this together). Here's a guy who drives a Lexus, maybe he doesn't "want to get his hands dirty" by doing the actual killing, whereas NK was "excited" about it.

Can't seem to find the exact time/date they went to the Walmarts, but off to look now. Will ETA if I find it.

Not sure how the prosecution is determining how DE went to the Craig Creek Road scene alone the first time, then back with NK later. Maybe thru phone records??

Just some thoughts. Love to hear others' opinions, and any evidence I'm forgetting.

ETA:Ok, found this info in another article, but this is all based on what Keepers has said, and can we believe her. Of course, Walmart receipts/and/or surveillance cams should corroborate if both went to the Walmarts and when. Looks like it was on the same night as the murder.
<Quote: Keepers told police that she was not with Eisenhauer during Lovell’s death, but did confess to helping Eisenhauer move Lovell’s body. Media exposure and increased police presence made Eisenhauer worry that the body would be discovered, according to testimony.

Hite told the court that Keepers drove with Eisenhauer to the location of the body. The two had previously scouted for a place to hide Lovell’s body on Craig Creek Road, settling for an area that they considered secluded. Keepers told police that she had never met Lovell and that she recognized her body in the snow from pictures in the news. Keepers then helped Eisenhauer load Lovell’s body in the trunk of Eisenhauer’s car.

From there, the two drove south to Wytheville, where they were recorded on surveillance video purchasing cleaning supplies from a Walmart. According to testimony, they had planned to bury Lovell near the property of Eisenhauer’s grandparents in Galax, Virginia. Eisenhauer and Keepers instead continued south to Surry County, North Carolina, where they disposed of Lovell’s body in a rural area. Keepers told police that Eisenhauer removed Lovell’s clothing and wiped down her body with cleaning supplies. Investigators say no effort was made to conceal or cover the body.> Quote

Thank you. I'll re-watch.

Here's part of what I heard

"... On Jan 26 the time has come for him to take care of his problem. At about 4pm the defendant and Natalie Keepers go to Christiansburg Walmart. The defendant purchases a garden shovel, the type commonly used to dig dirt. Then he and Keepers go out and get something to eat, at CookOut in Blacksburg. Then they take a drive. They are looking for an area where they can commit murder. They then return to their dorms.

At 11:42pm the defendant leaves his dorm. He gets in his Lexus, he drives a couple of miles to Lantern Ridge Apartments and he picks up Nicole Lovell. He drives to the Craig Creek area of Montgomery Co. The same area that he had selected earlier that day. They arrive at about 1:02am - early morning hours on Wed Jan 27th. He and Nicole get out of the car and enter the woods.

Then the defendant boldly and ruthlessly stabs Nicole not once, not twice, but fourteen times. He stabs her in the chest and in her throat.

The defendant leaves Nicole in the woods with her throat cut, lying in the snow to die. He drives back to his dorm.

On Wed evening, about 17 hours after the murder, the defendant and and his friend, Natalie Keepers, drive back to Craig Creek Rd. They drag Nicole’s body out of the woods and they stuff it into the trunk of the defendant's Lexus… "

The defendant drives back towards Blacksburg, gets on Interstate 81 and starts heading south. They stop at Walmart in Wytheville and they buy cleaning supplies, gloves, wipes, bleach. They get back on 81 and backtrack a little bit and head south on Interstate 77..."

If you or anyone heard things differently... please correct!

I added a bit more.

The prosecution's case is much weaker than i thought. Keepers is looking really bad too. At this point, i would say Eisenhauer slips right out.

You make an excellent point. I think DE may very well come out ahead being the first tried and dragging NK through the mud. NK's stuck. If her lawyers allow her to testify, she implicates herself. If she remains silent, DE's team crucifies her. This is going to be ugly.

Her lawyers filed a motion for her not to testify in DE's trial. The judge hasn't ruled yet on this...so we'll see

I think I was busy typing and missed your post, BettyP.... but I think we're on the same page/and in agreement.

I don't know if my quickie transcript is 100% correct but feel free to change/add/etc.

In Defense attorney John Lichenstein's opening statements, he mentioned NK and Cassandra Claire's book Clockwork Angel. I Googled and found out what this book was all about . I am wondering how this book ties into all this ( at around 9:48 in the video- "murder-by-stabbing...not yet 14 year old girl...murderer takes the personal possessions of the victim in that novel.. takes possession of them and brings them into her own house")

Clockwork Angel

http://shadowhunters.wikia.com/wiki/Clockwork_Angel

NK brought Nicole's things in a duffel bag to her place.

He also mentioned that:

-hand prints on shovel not Eisenhauer's, but are NK's

-bloody stick - hairs were Nicole's and NK's

-NK said she planned Nicole's death

I haven't watched the prosecutor's opening yet tho'.

What evidence does the prosecutor have on Eisenhauer, I'm wondering??? Just NK's words??

I just realized...check out that photo that JerseyGirl posted of DE entering court today. Those gouges on the side of his nose are gone. Remember all the discussion if they were pockmarks or gouges?

Sadly I have to agree. DavidE looked very tired today, very very greasy hair, had some big unsightly bags under his eyes, and yawned quite a bit. He may very well get off of this one, but dont expect a running career anytime in the near future. Eisenhauer has gained a lot weight behind bars..

A nearby Division III school that fields a collegiate Cross Country program already said they have a program that would suit him fine.

I don't believe for a second that he's going to get off. The prosecution only started their case this afternoon. I think there's plenty of evidence against Eisenhauer that we'll be hearing in the near future.

The prosecution hit on big the searches on DE's computer ahead of time for knock-out drugs, how long does it take to burn a body, among other things. ALSO, dna of DE's under Nicole's fingernails. I don't think you can get someone's DNA under your fingernails with just a quick innocent side-hug like DE asserts. Nicole's blood in DE's car, etc....definitely watch the prosecution video. I agree with others that said prosecutor did a fine job summing up their "picture of the final completed puzzle."

The defense's opening bothered me in the sense (putting myself briefly in the shoes of DE's parents) that they really don't believe that DE is innocent (doesn't make any strong claims like "my client had nothing to do with this murder"), but rather putting a lot of emphasis on the commonwealth having the burden of proving and look over here at this shovel that my client apparently never touched. Not only was the defense opening not polished, but it was kindof jolty and disheveled and I wondered if this was a bit of a strategy to play to some jurors vs. the strong resting b*tch face prosecutor. I think the defense is hoping they can plant enough confusion to get DE an accessory charge with time served. But I don't get the feeling him team likes him or believes in him much.

Thank you wyome for the info on the prosecutor's evidence- compelling for sure. I'll have to watch the video.

He did look like crap, which may play to his advantage. I do think he has good lawyers that have seasoned forensic psychologists advising. Jury selection went super smoothly, so I guess that has me a little worried that the defense thought they had a really good hand.

Thanks! I just read it. Appreciate the transcript. We now have to figure out if NK was with him when he took NL to kill her. If she didn't go along then, I don't see how they can pin the murder on NK. Will listen and read more.

I worry when there is a trial of he said she said.
I really hope they both get put away forever.
