Typically LE will not allow the parents to search. If the child is found, and parent runs and grabs child, then evidence could be lost. Most cases I have seen are always handled this way.

Thanks so much, Tallula. That's good to know.

Just got #NoahThomas press release. Really two big takeaways: 1) Sheriff Davis says there was no "lingering danger" to the public.

2) "Certain tests" are pending and could take weeks to be completed. Cause of death won't be final until those results are in. #NoahThomas

Did the parents ever participate in looking for Noah?

Have the parents issued a statement about Noah since he has been found? Or a statement thanking people for their help?

I might have missed it, but I can't recall a single statement from them - when usually in cases like this the parents seem to release something almost immediately 'in honour' of their loved one, once they have been found deceased.

This is a red light to me.

"Unfortunately certain tests take a long time to complete and the final cause of death is dependent on those results. I understand your frustration with the lack of details surrounding Noah 's death, however I ask that you respect my office's mission to thoroughly investigate the circumstances of this case and at the appropriate time - when it would not otherwise jeopardize this investigation - we will make a formal statement on the findings."

Hm, interesting.

Hm, interesting.

They would know by now that Noah had fluid in his lungs from drowning.

Is the idea that there was no fluid in his lungs and now they are reaching out to "certain tests" to determine the cause of death?

I imagine these are toxicology drug tests that are more specialized?
But even if he did have fluid in his lungs, they might have reason to need to do other tests too before ruling everything out.
Now we Google what tests takes longer to come back with results....

Me too. Sounds like they might be waiting on toxicology. Determining if he drowned doesn't require testing, as far as I know.

Absolutely.

Po

I agree that I found it odd, also. Unless, mom was so distraught, but you would think the dad would've searched. Could LE have asked them not to? I hear you about the dog. My neighbor's dog went missing and my husband drove around helping her look for the dog for about an hour.

During one of the numerous hurricanes here I also got out in the hurricane and searched for my boxers. I was recovering from back surgery and during the eye of the storm let the dogs out to do their business and they didn't come in. I walked around the property and found that a gate had blown down and the dogs had took off running. I got into my Yukon and was driving around the neighborhood when the back end of the storm hit, crying my eyes out for my fur babies when a man drove up beside me with my female boxer sitting beside him. He seemed to know that I was searching for her and told me that the big, male boxer took off when he approached the female, he was so caring and was searching for her home during a hurricane. When I got home (100 mph winds at this time) the male was sitting in the living room waiting for me. But anyway, I can totally understand going out to search for loved ones, no matter what.

If he drowned, that is cause of death, regardless of other factors, which would be included in manner of death. Even if he is found to be drugged, drowning would be "cause of death", and manner "homicide" Imo. This is all very, very strange. Jmo

My thoughts on the painfully slow way that information is being released to the public is that we will not hear the details until after the funeral is done. I have a very heavy feeling that a deal was agreed to in order for Noah's body to be found and removed from the septic tank. JMO and nothing more.

Even though that press release didn't say anything specific, it spoke volumes by what it didn't say. MOO

I would think that it means that he was dead before he was in the septic. It indicates that he did not get in there himself. I assume that there was not indications of physical trauma. So, drugs? Indicators of illness or heart attack?

This is just so sad.

I guess we are now looking at something other than an accident. Unfortunately, I had already assumed as much. If he drowned, wouldn't they just state- at this time it appears to be a tragic accident, pending confirmation with a negative tox?

in general, tox tests can be very slow to come back.

based on the "at the appropriate time - when it would not otherwise jeopardize this investigation - we will make a formal statement" yes, I'd imagine they're not looking at it as an accident.

They didn't say what the cause of death was. Hmmm. Was it drowning or blunt force trauma, etc? I understand it takes time for the toxicology to come back. I guess I thought we might hear a little more. Poor Noah.
