Wow, I am sort of shocked that they both will be hiring private attorneys to defend them. I would have thought a PD would have been assigned so neither one is declaring they are indigent it seems. There must be money somewhere in the family because we all know attorneys don't come cheap.

Each will have their own attorney I would think. I think it would be a conflict of interest for one lawyer to defend both parents. I imagine before this is over with one is going to rollover on the other one. Lets just hope the main one that did this doesn't get the deal if there is one for testifying against the other one.

In the Moorer case they also have different attorneys.

I know a lot of people have questioned why the parents were allowed to go to the funeral and to spend time alone with him. I feel it was multiple reasons. Not having enough yet to arrest them for, and also to see if perhaps one or both of them would break with a confession.

I think they wanted the parents to see the full dynamic of what they had caused and how it affected everyone, breaking them down. Once they're in jail there's no drugs to cover up reality. Plus you seperate them from one another, and take away their comfort zone, now they know how it's affected the community and they don't know what the other is saying to cover themselves, so they'll probably roll on each other.

Well, it was a toss up between Noah dying and the day her Lisa Frank unicorn quit producing rainbows and glitter.
If that one statement from her doesn't convince the doubters that she is a cold and uncaring woman then I don't know what will.

But that doesn't really explain why Ashley's status is 'married' - if she's part of that common-law relationship then hers should be like his, showing 'not married/single'?

Ashley White, 30, and Paul Thomas, 32, were charged Thursday with two felony counts of abuse and neglect of children.

One of White's charges is more serious. If convicted, White faces a maximum of 15 years in prison and Thomas faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.

Both are being held at the New River Valley Regional Jail in Dublin without bond. Their next hearing is August 12 at 1:30 p.m. in Pulaski County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

At this time, neither White nor Thomas have retained an attorney. Their son, 5-year-old Noah Thomas, was found dead in a septic tank March 26 after a five-day search.

The parents of Noah Thomas are expected to be arraigned Friday afternoon through video conference.

Ashley White, 30, and Paul Thomas, 32, were charged Thursday with two felony counts of abuse and neglect of children. They are currently held at the New River Valley Regional Jail in Dublin without bond.

A Juvenile and Domestic Relations judge in Wythe County is expected to preside over the arraignment at 1 p.m. White and Thomas are expected to appear through video conference in Wythe County.

Five-year-old Noah Thomas was found dead in a septic tank near the family’s Dublin home on March 26 after a five-day search.

White and Thomas each face two charges: one involving Noah and a second linked to an infant who also lived in the home. The infant was removed from the home by social services a day after Noah went missing.

This is the kind of thing mothers say when they miscarry, or their child dies. This is the saddest thing that's ever happened to me. I don't see why that's an odd thing to say.

As I said, self absorbed drug user, and I've got news for her, she'll always be a topic of someone's dinner topic for years. It is good she's that self absorbed, because I can see her turning over info on Paul and anyone connected with any drug use.

Oh I know that - I'm from the south and unfortunately have attended way too many services. My point was that this is a couple that had their daughter taken away and a day after the services, they were both arrested for abuse and neglect of their children, one of whom was laying in the casket. Surely LE knew about the charges that were about to be brought the next day. I just found it odd for this particular scenario unless there was a purpose we don't know about. JMO

Like you I have been to far too many funerals. The parents were not under arrest, so there was no way they could say they were not allowed to spend time with him.

Media members were allowed to attend the hearing, but cameras were not allowed inside. White said she did not want media inside of the hearing because this is the worst thing that has ever happened to her and she doesn’t want her life to be the topic of everyone’s dinner conversation.

And the were still contacting people who had called to report different things, the day before the funeral. So, I think you're probably right.

That part always sucks. I wonder if she hadn't been caught if it would have been the saddest thing to happen to her? Maybe she would have been exhilarated that she/he got away with it.

I honestly hope the DA tells them both to go pound sand and never offers a plea of any kind. I think this is like several cases I have seen lately and this is just a prelude to further serious charges coming.

I read a case one time where a wife testified against her husband saying he was the one that killed their child. Years later it was proven she had lied and she actually was the one who did it. She was given a sweetheart deal at the time to testify against him.

So I am very wary of plea deals. A lot of times its who can be the better liar and women are looked at more favorably than men even by LE. As an aside: Much research has been done in that area and it has been proven that not only are women better liars but they lie more often than men.

I want the actual one who did this to Noah to pay. In fact if they find out Noah was drugged it could become a felony murder case and be death penalty qualified. Not only because of his young age but the possible felonious acts that were done to cause his death.

I have NEVER heard the mother of a deceased child say she was "sad". Devastated, destroyed, broken but never sad. I'm sad when my dogs destroy my favorite bag but my children mean far more to me.

More about her! Has her children even crossed her mind? Does she care that Noah is dead and that Baby A has lost everything that is familiar to her? Are they acceptable topics at dinner?

One of the admins posted on her page their behavior at the funeral was bad, they said they just wanted to get the ~bad word~ out of there. I'm sure they did, because officers were guarding them in sight at both the funeral home, and cemetary. I'm sure they suspected they would be arrested, because tests still would be coming back with results.

You would think Ashley's saddest day would be when Noah died and was thrown in a septic tank, or even his funeral.
